Linkage http://bp.kkweb8.de/downloads/BP_E3_2008.zip
I ran into the above link a short while ago, I assume its from E3. Is this annother space MMO, something aspiring to create an eve type universe? Just fishing for informtion really. The graphics look shiney (though no evidence of what the gameplay/universe/mechanics/anything else are like) and something EVE will probobly graduate to in the future.
Thoughts/opinios/info/flames?

It's a "real-time sci-fi action MMO" apparently, but that trailer looked very nice and those screenshots on their homepage are yummy, very detailed. Probably needs a monster PC to run though, and almost no info in terms of gameplay. Other than some blurbs about modular ship construction and an innovative mission system.

The url you linked is identical to the one for the teaser trailer on the homepage.

this game will probobly rival eve to a certain point. I think it really depends on the scale and quality of pvp. And how in depth the story is of course.
if it can rival the scale of eve and have better pvp then eve. That in itself could probobly hurt eve quite abit. if it has the type of economy and story as eve aswell. Well then i think we just found ourselves a better space mmo.
looks pretty epic to me, i am looking forward to playing beta. pray for joystick controls for a fighter! --------------------------------------

Seeing the video it will be Joystick controlled, as you cannot fly like and shoot like that with point and click ;) Looked too realtime, so it's joystick controlled alright :)
But then again. No info! No gameplay details! So far only some nice screenshots and a nice video! That's it.
Cheers

Is it just me or does the Homepage linked above bear a striking resembelence to the 'look and feel' of a certain mmo interwebs space ship game we all know and love?

They know who to target, EVE is the only operational space based MMO out there I think, so you have a pretty clear target besides new players.

i have a feeling it may end up being more like "WoW in space" instead of real competition for EVE. it will really come down to how much of a sandbox it will be, and what kind of social, political, and economic systems the players can develop. ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

Looks like X3 and EvE had a child. I'll not complain, as another space game is good for all of us

saw this on the quest for infinity page
Warning: the following was our April Fool's joke - apparently a few people have fallen for it, so I must add this disclaimer. It should not be taken seriously!
Dear community,
This is with great sadness that I must announce a bad news ( sort of ).
We have decided to review the promised features list and to cut some of them to be able to complete the project in a realistic time frame, and to differenciate us even more from the competition. The following list is not exhaustive, but here are some of the most important changes:
- the game will no longer be a MMO, but exclusively solo. - planetary landing is removed, it was all pre-rendered in Terragen and would look crap in real-time anyway. - in order to keep performance up, it will no longer be twitch based, but play as point & click. Newtonian physics is overrated and playing the view upside-down is dangerous for your mental health anyway.. - the game will now be wholy jumpgate-based. We thought that the freedom of the previously-planed hyperdrive would confuse newbies too much. - we'll remove collision detection.. nobody likes to bump into objects. - there will only be around 5000 star systems, and not a full galaxy. They will only feature one sun and a couple of random planets, and they won't be moving on their orbits anymore. It was causing too many designs problems (what if you were taken in sandwich between two colliding planets?). - you will no longer be able to acquire a station, a city or a planet. You will never have enough credits to afford those, so it was wasted time to implement them. - we'll introduce a system of races and skills to make the game more interesting, because we all know that a game without those will be boring. 5 races will be available: the Rrama (directly inspired from A.C.Clarke of course!), the Iradlac, the Etnellag, the Evoj and the Ratamnim.
To reflect those changes, we also decided to rename the game. We have settled on a new name.. let's all wish a warm welcome to "Adam Offline" !

Haha yeah I laughed about that. Cannot believe how stupid some people are and went beserk and fell for it! You only had to look at the name of the 5 races. How inlogical they were and so easy to read them backforward.

As far as "choppy camera" goes, How was it any worse than the Empyrean Age trailer in that regard?
If you're worried about how good the game will be based on that, err, then the same holds true for EVE.
Of course, It might be that you're just critisizing it since it'll compete with EVE for it's playerbase. |

hey guys guess what. Nice thing about eve is you can play both eve AND another space mmo.
After 3 years EVE is still a blast and even bigger and better expansions are on the way. The question is now, what comes after ambulation... what comes after planetary interaction.... One can only dream.
p.s I am def checking this game out when it hits open beta if it ever does that is.

Eve has what ? Four year of patching, fixing, expanding, nerfing and bla bla bla ?
The regular upgrades and expansions will place it like a vet pilot that is facing noobs; they HAVE to aim to do something different or they would be in trouble... eve is ever expanding, it's always like a project and a game... and the more time passes the more it gets complete.
With ambulation and planetary interaction on the orizon... think what they could pull off 3 years from now...

A joystick MMO? Doesn't work. MMORPGs are not played by aircraft simulator players, no matter how spacy it is.

says who? go back to your 2004 hole.
other than this stupid dolt any other fans of freelancers 1000 man multiplayer out there? That game was so cool, I loved how you could lan together a whole school of players. you'd log in and your best trade route might be out hualed or your battleship base was taken out by a another groups battle team.
man mmorpg with a joystick ARE awesome and they still will be.

Meh. They have a LONG long way to go. I'm not holding my breath.
So much of eve is beyond graphics, and they have shown nothing but graphics. Is there anything else? have they done it well?
Nobody knows. My bet: they won't do it as well as EVE has. The EVE bar is too high and the average game quality is too low.
