Ambulation will significantly improve PVP. Here's how:
Noobs who keep getting blown up wont, as they'll be docked up comparing hairstyles and playing poker.
Therefore they wont head to the forums to whine about whatever blew them up (nanoships, lag, mining lasers - whatever).
We'll therefore have fewer forum posts about nerfing the flavour of the month (so the rest of us who are capable of adapting can get on with blowing each other up) and therefore CCP won't be driven into nerfing modules for no good reason.
Overall this will be a 'good thing'.
Sadly we will have lots more forum whines about nerfing Gallente hairstyles, and poker scams. I for one think its a price worth paying.

What did the graphics update do for the game? made it look better. Ambulation is an aesthetic patch, and even though it wont make the graphics prettier, they will provide something to do other than fly around, and let people interact easier. If you don't wanna use it then don't, I for one am looking forward to being able to use the /facepalm emote.

Nothing directly at least to begin with. No combat/running/jumping and their being very careful on emotes so as not to destroy the setting. Although the initial release looks set to be the base for a whole new part of the game in years to come i believe. Hope in time you'll be able to live part of your career out of your pod as well as in. Plus its non mandatory to use and a nice added extra from the development team of the world of darkness MMO team CCP is making.

Same as any other dynamic in the game: New players will be walking around the crappy areas because if they turn the wrong corner and head out to the good areas any older player will beat the crap out of them just for being there. This of course will yield zero benefit to the older player yet force the now dead newbie to start over from zero. Even more of the wonderful nuances that make this game such a thrill for everyone other than 5 year old players! |

And just because in real life I don't have shootings every day where I live doesn't mean I shouldn't live.
the point is maybe not everyone wants to live in the outlands fighting for their life everyday, some people just want to trade and run around. However just like in real life some times crimes happen, and people are killed in "safe" towns. that's part of makes eve great.
So if you don't think more players means more people to shoot as an outlaw operating in high sec, your a fool.

The only thing it will do for PVP is create less lag.
Since people in station will be on a different server, the guys in space get a little less lag.

I like the concept of ambulation, and am looking forward to it. However, it lacking any sort of combat at the outset is a bad thing.
As far as PVP, at least you have the option of docking up and getting in the face of the "I smacktalk from a station but won't undock and fight" punks which will be entertaining at least. If they dont' offer actual combat at least maybe an emote that allows you to "smack em around a bit" would be doable?

Welcome to the eve forums.
We've been through this before, what it'll do for PvP in other threads.
1. It gives you something to do when you're being camped.
2. It syphons off some of the traffic from the space faring side and shoves them into a newly created area, hopefully making it less crowded and more enjoyable for us all.
I've no idea if you're allowed to go on a fisticuffs rampage or bring a rocket launcher or anything like that, only thing I remember being highly likely is you'll get some form of gambling entertainment most likely included like some form of poker or something.

It's posts like this that make me think WoW now has a higher average IQ than the EVE community.  Ambulation won't affect lag, because being within ambulation means you're out of the rest of the EVE world, apart from chat. It'll create as much lag as being docked in the current game.
The thing I'm looking forward to is the chance to party or relax with my corpmates after a hard days fighting. It'll beat spinning the ship!
