While I am new, I have been putting a lot of my efforts into getting larger and larger vessels, ultimely hoping to fly a Leviathan. I have the training to fly a Caldari battleship. I lack the funds, however, being barely able to afford a cruiser. That is were you come in. Give me a battleship, and I will work off my dept in anyway you wish. |

if you can't afford a battleship you need more training, more skills and more experience
(assuming for a moment this isn't a troll....) (you are not yet 2 months old, a leviathan is YEARS away)
if you can barely afford a cruiser, go back to your agents and stick with frigs and destroyers, if you can barely afford a BS you need to stick to cruisers and battlecruisers believe me, the Drake is about the most low-skill, noob-friendly a ship can get.
no one with any sense will give you the isk or straight up trade you the ship unless they wanna see the inevitable loss-mail that will be forthcomming.
That being said... a rough guide to ships (personal opinion, times vary) ...........................sit in them......mission with them....pvp with them frigs ...................day 1 .................day 1 ...................day 2 destroyers .........day 2 ...............day 4.....................day 10 cruisers..............day 20 .............day 30....................day 45 BC......................day 45 ............day 60.....................day 90 BS......................day 45 .............day 120...................day 180 If you follow this ROUGH guide, remember to train defense as well as offensive skills, you'll avoid a great deal of tears and anguish if you need a guide for such things.. refer to this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=77176 one of the best posts on this forum
if however, you want to ignore all this, please do so... this is eve... you can do what you want... but don't expect folks to hand it to you
P.S. if you haven't done the Sister's of Eve epic arc it is HIGHLY recommended and will give you a pile of ships and a ton of isk (relative to a noob)

Random question... do you think you're ready for a BS if you can't afford one? Why do you need one? Do you have have the skills to fly one? I don't just mean the prerequesites to board one... I mean the support skills in gunner, shields, cap, etc, etc, etc...
In EvE, BIGGER does not mean BETTER..... Trust me... I've solo'd ravens and drakes in a rifter... a BS pilot that lacks the support skills is easy pickings!!!!!
Much love though.... |

Remember this cardinal rule of EVE: "Bigger is not always better."
Larger ships do have the potential to possess very large tanking and damage projection abilities... however this does not mean they are universally "better" than all ships smaller than them. In fact... it is entirely possible for a small, well piloted frigate to chew apart a battleship... if given enough time... without the battleship being able to fight back (I should note that this is an extreme situation that doesn't happen often).
Capitals all have their own problems... especially if you have no support to rely on. Flying one solo is often referred to as "a killmail waiting to happen."
tl;dr... think of larger ships as slow moving "wrecking balls." People will see you coming from a mile away and can either bring out their (usually larger) "wrecking ball" to smash yours or walk away entirely with you being unable to catch up. I lost my first Raven the day after I got it. The reason was not that I lacked skills, but that I lacked experience. However, I could afford to buy and fit another. That one I never lost (I eventually sold it).
I lost a Navy Raven just the other day when I lost connection, however I grabbed a shuttle and immediately flew to Jita and replaced it. It was about a 1.5b loss (luckily most of the modules dropped into the wreck).
Don't pilot what you can't afford to lose and replace.

I lost my 5th mission Abaddon yesterday, fairly cheap mostly t1 fit and faction ammo runs about 450-500mil every time i replace it. If anyone bought you a battleship they would be kissing their cash good-bye, since you have no clue how to fly anything bigger than a destroyer. I give it 48hrs tops if you are trying to run anything above a lvl3, before you are a half billion in dept to someone and have no ship to pay it off with. I'll repeat what everyone else has said about how you aren't ready for a battleship yet, you're not likely to find someone to supply one, a Drake is what you should be aiming for, and how bigger isn't always better.
Just know that when you do get a mission battleship you shouldn't have to pay over 200 mil for the ship and all the modules, even if they're T2, in order to get a good performance out of it (assuming skills.)

yeah, I could be wrong about that been more than a year since I ran it... but I do remember the isk and other dropped bits were decent for what amounts to a pile of lvl 1 missions
besides... if he had asked for something simpler, and avoided mentioning the titan at all he'd have a drake or 2 by now
lots are folks are generous, but 2mo toon + BS = lossmail 2mo toon + drake = possible lossmail... not certain

Name makes me think possible troll, but ill bite.
Truth is you are a bad investment, anyone doing their research would see that you rushed into a cruiser hull and were only able to fit it with frigate sized equipment save for the 2 medium blasers on your caracal, a ship ment for missles. Not only thst but you went and lost said ship venturing into lowsec. And the risk of you doing the same in a battleship is enough to scare away just about anyone.
Truth is even if you were my best friend I wouldent hand you a battleship, I would be doing you a horrible disservice. If you can't afford it yourself then you just arnt ready for it, and rookies in terribad fit battleships are just flashy neon "gank me" signs. |

I agree with your PVP numbers, but your PVE numbers are high.
You can put together a mission destroyer about 3 hours after you can a frigate. A PVE cruiser .... about a week. About 3 weeks is enough to tank level 4s in a Drake (OP ship is OP) but I would say 3-4 weeks and level 3's is a better medium. T2 tank, primary hull skill to 4 and supports to mostly 4 PLUS T2 drones and a mission BS is viable. This is probably 45-60days.
Suggesting waiting 120 days (17 weeks) before doing level 4 missions is a long way off, sorry. I was doing them (albeit awkwardly) in my second month of eve. The trick is to find friends.
Not sure what your "sit in them" column is, but from scratch you can "sit in" the hull of the top tier of each class in:
Frig: 6hrs Destroyer: 7hrs Cruiser: ~2 days BC: ~2.5 days BS: ~6 days - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's |

Sit in them is so you can actually fit something useful on them, like "shudder" mining lazors on a rokh, but yes basic skills for the hull are shorter. My pve times are long both to allow a new player to get accustomed to the game and to allow that they might/might not want to join a corp. Trying to grind Angels extravaganza(or worlds collide) solo in a crap fit BS is just painfully slow, with better skills (or friends) it goes much quicker.
Also if the OP is still around... a destroyer is much more powerful (usually) than a frig, but I'm constantly surprised that with the number of ships I can fly, how often its just quick and easy to slap together a punisher or kestrel (or their T2 variations) and learning to use a frig starts early when you have little choice at the beginning, don't sell them short... there are a ton of them in the game.

Trust needs to be earned in EVE, so it's unlikely anyone is going to take you up on your offer even if it were a good idea. There's nothing stopping you from taking the battleship and then just failing to ever work it off.
Regardless, battleships are rather skill-intensive. In addition to the fact that battleship weapons are far more skill intensive than frigate or cruiser weapons, battleships generally need a wide variety of support skills to be effective. Additionally, don't even think about stepping into a battleship without drone skills.
Additionally, a Titan is an ultra-long-term goal. You'll generally need well over a year (likely 2-3+) of skill training to fly a Titan competently...and you'd need to be a long-term member of a 0.0 alliance which has one that they want you to fly. Capital ships are far different than subcapital ships. They are used in high-end 0.0 fleet warfare, not something that single players putt around it.
Even normal capital ships (carriers, dreads) are rather long term - I wouldn't expect to be in one for awhile and I certainly wouldn't expect to use one solo.
Still, don't be discouraged by all this, just have a respect for the fact that larger ship classes in EVE are actually meaningful. A battleship is ridiculously different than a frigate. |

I agree with pretty much what is said above.
I still consider myself as a "new" player after 7-8 months in Eve. I'm not combat oriented but still able to "sit-in" a BS. And my Destroyer(Trasher) do even more DPS than my Maelstrom, for a faction of the price.
Think twice before jumping in your new shiny Battle Ship and blow it on your first run, smaller ships are here for a reason, something as to be learned from them.
Personally I enjoy much more flying my Trasher or my Hurricane than my Maelstrom, because I can fly them correctly. |

Remember that Caldari tend to run on missiles and Gallente on drones, both of which you can train up to T2 without having to also train small and medium. It's actually not unreasonable to just skip straight to the large stuff and focus there with the Dominix/Raven, I was able to run L4s in a Domi like a month in.
Well... _able_. Year or three later and even with all the incidental support skills and secondary damage skills I've trained in the course of training up ships I actually enjoy flying (cruiser and below), and whacking away at PvE in the BS is still really, really boring. I basically only do it in proportion to the cost of the ships I lose in PvP, and then only when I can't find a decent wormhole. |
