Edited by: Aethana on 25/07/2008 16:31:06 With the new change that MWDs can be turned off by warp disruptors, wouldn't that make crusaders even better in dogfights?
This makes the crusaders 2 mid spots ideal since turning off the enemies mwd should now be good as a web?
Anyone can help me think thru this idea? |

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure though with a web+scram on a ship a 3 midslot ship still has a advantage.
Also it makes Afterburner ships viable again which is something to think about.

I do believe that they said the short range scrams, not disruptors, will turn off enemy MWD.

It's warp SCRAMBLERS not warp disruptors, so unless you buy faction you have a 9km range (not overloaded), may be nice to use but unlike the web it will slow the enemy down to base speed which in some cases could be close to 1km/s still. Probably would be hard to keep the enemy in your scram range.
On the taranis however.....

Wouldn't this be more of a boost for the non damage inties, IE, the ones having the scrambler range bonus?

The intys with 3 meds will obviously also have his ability though so in inty vs inty dogfights it will obviously be different but not drastically so. I think it may however make the rocket crow a very effective dogfighter again.

On paper it does look like damage interceptors like the Crusader gets a leg up. At least until you realise that most of the MWD targets a Crusader would engage have high basespeeds to begin with or have mid slots enough to have AB fitted as well negating the loss of their MWD.
The exciting prospect of the whole thing is that afterburners will come back in style opening the dor for some good old fashioned active tanking showdowns, best capacitor micromanager wins!
There are a lot of things that needs to be addressed in the proposed changes but overall it looks promising.

What if they have an MWD and a AB. But anyway, back to the point... I'm awesome :D |

not to mention very early cap problems in a fight, dropping a potential cap recharger and taking the 25% hit...

I can't see how the crusader is buffed any more than a 3mid inty tbh. If webs won't be necessary you can easely fit other stuff in the third mid. Also ABs are going to become alot more common after the nerf, so webs are still going to be important.
I'd rather say that short range intys have gotten a huge buff with the web nerf. Ab taranis has potential to become brutal.
