Many of you guys are telling other players who are upset about the nano nerf to "adapt or die". I find this ironic because the only reason this change is getting brought about is that many of you could not adapt to kill the fast ships in the first place. Stop being hypocritcal.
Also, I am disturbed at what this game is going to become with this new nerf. I think that the viable ship options for pvpers is going to diminish greatly, and that the new FotM is going to be remote repping bs's with many falcons for support. This kind of warfare is not exciting to me... but hey, i am not the one "balancing" the game.
Also, before you say that I am whining because my ship is going to get nerfed, realize this. I can fly nanos, but I hardly ever do. I instead enjoy fighting against nano gangs though, and the thought of fighting against huge blobs instead of nano gangs makes me a sad panda.

I disagree, with the nerf viable ship options for PvP'ers greatly increase because your fit does not revolve around an MWD.

yeah i find it funny that alot of the whiners now once did say adapt or die. Good thing you dont need two webs to nail a mwder, if you get in range 1 web and 1 scrammer = 93-95% speed reduction from thier mwd speed, which is better than current webbers.

this.
A game based around customizing your ship with various types of modules isn't good when single modules become mandatory and aren't meant to be like that

MMmhhmm,
Nano is getting what Nos got and for exactly the same reason.
An MWD became a required module for most ships in PVP, just like a Nos. Now it's getting a nerf. It's been a long time coming now that it's here it's not the end of all nano life. It's just the end of the patently absurd stuff.
Look at what they are doing, a MWD can be deactivated, but only at close range. Most nano ships already avoid close range.
An interceptor can now tackle nearly any nano ship but it will need someone to kill said tackled nano. Hey 2v1 should usually win that's the whole point of bringing a friend. Will that mean blobs? No more than it already does. People blob because numbers trump nearly everything. That's true in every pvp game.
People will still solo and look for small gang fights. Why? Because those fights are fun and people like fun.
As for the adapt or die crap. Everyone who complains about anything will get told adapt or die, cold harsh universe and can I have your stuff? Now that it's your turn to adapt being told to adapt is hypocritical?
Can I have your stuff?

And who's to say that combat won't be richer since more ships are needed with differente roles and more strategy and tactics are needed.

Ahh but when he says "The game is ruined" what he actually means is "my game is ruined" because he's been training for the FOTM and no one told him that the devs watch to see what everyone is training and what everyone is fitting and that when everyone does the same thing, carriers, nos, mwd...whatever, that thing gets a nasty nerfing. Seriously, get over your self, and realize that all game design decisions are taken by CCP alone and they ultimately decides how the playing field is laid out and what aspects to promote and not. The rest of us have two options: Stay on the ride or get off.
I must be getting old because I have lost track on how many times CCP has re-evaluated game play aspects with significant changes, giving hundreds of forum bickering posts quite like the OP here.
And yet, subscriptions continue to increase. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute |

Actually MWDs will most likely still be mandatory at least in 0.0 roaming, if only to burn out of bubbles or reapproach gates fast. But their usefulness for actual combat might be reduced, which is a good. And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

I've always felt that be all and end all ship fits were detrimental to the game, when everyone fits an MWD because speed = the best defence you only encourage one particular playstyle wherein the ones with the best speed mods and skills win every battle.
I hope this change encourages new strategies where varied ship fittings complement each other and add to the overall group. I think an additional change to the gang mechanic to limit the usefulness of a large group by adding deminishing returns per gang member would encourage smaller but more versatile gangs where every ship is vital to the gang's survival and not just another speed boat orbiting a tackled target.

ive played this game for 5 years
ive seen various fotm.
nanos are current fotm
i have flown nanos amongst other ships.
can i just say one thing
"adapt or die"
biggest whiners i have seen on balance are the nano pilots moaning about the changes, which tbh are getting tedious.
and if a nano pilot cannot understand why changes are necessary, he has no idea of game balance tbh.
the changes may see a tad harsh (because instead of just refining nanos, mwd, scramblers, afterburners are also looked at) but all will be good in the end.
the changes affect everyone.
if you put all your eggs in one basket / cross train for fotm, then you risk this happening in eve. in the past other ships have been hit badly, eg the gankaggeddon (everyone seemes to fly at one point) nosdominix (everyone flew) and other ships.
get over it / get overyourself.

I think it is safe to assume that the Matari speed boats will still be the zoom-zoom compared to the rest. Hell, most of them can outpace an Amarr MWD ship using an afterburners. Same applies to blaster ships and any ship that has is primary function/feature modified (I am looking at you Min/Gal recons).
CCP may make some unpopular decisions but does anyone really want to return to pre-nos tweak game play or how about the pre-stacking gameplay?
Besides, they are "proposed changes", as in not final. Everyone with concerns should do their duty and hop onto SiSi to help with testing. CCP got the same response when they wanted to change the Thorax hulls, but testing proved that it was *******s and changes were scrapped, so they are not complete imbeciles.

This point has been totally missed by most blaster point pilots. In fact you probably wont even need a webber, if your flying directly at your target, or steer to match his orbital path the transversal is going to be so minimal blaster turrets will track and hit.
Equally most blaster boats are gallente, the majority have drone bays, so you can always carry webbifier drones to help out - actually giving you a spare mid slot if you want.

Agreed with ole Slothe.
0.0 combat was well on its way to having roaming gangs consist of nothing but the same few ships. The new changes promote more diversity by making other ships viable and other module combinations much more viable (we may actually see some combat AB setups now that aren't dependant on high grade snake implants to function).

I'd like to answer you with a quote from the dev blog:
Quote: If one then takes a look at the max velocity on missiles and drones, it is readily apparent that our combat system was never designed for such speeds. Even when we did some basic tests on our internal servers, with special high-speed missiles, we quickly noticed Destiny (our physics engine) behaving very strangely.
How are we supposed to adapt to "broken" speeds if the engine is not actually capable of handling them in the first place? Can't you see the problem there?

adapt or die? hehe well goood moorning:P, eve is all about adapting to situations, cose nothing is fixed in eve niether we want that, else megathron would be megathron no matter who flys it(its how u train/fit yours),
niether this so called nerfs, seriously its not nerf, what has been in eve is history and new ballance is THE CURRENT SITUATION (ENVIROMENT) to adapt to. should be taken as challange, btw im a nano pilot, nano nerf? bring it on,
ofc it will be a challange to manuver in new establish mechanics, scramb takeing out the mwd, hell yeah, see scramb is now 2 weapons in one, u see that as disadvantage, hek no, its a whole new weapon, more tactics involved, sweetness :P
but!!! alllll this going on! aint here to contribute to blobs or any no fun large fleet engagments, its bout lil ppl in skirmish gangs getting the fun of eve time, more sort of weapons, less speed more mates in gang, more small/med skirmish mates gangs flying round more encounters more victory, bigger the reward(fun/domination) and the reputation
as much my opinion is or isnt very understandable i think ccp is on right track, ballance yeah, make small skirmish gang double the challange than big nasty "screenshoot" no fun battles, i think in there u at least feel the speed and rush and skills and u do matter as part of squad
blah blah, love ya all, as my mateys says, i dont understand a word u saying, but i love ya :P

on second note: 3 on 1 is ok if u encounter faction/officier fited battleship, u need to fuel your ship, it costs. but personaly beating the odds, takeing out on bigger numbers liek 4 on 7, or 10 against 35 and wining as we do, thats a special touch, thats a battle that each of your mate in squad counts big time. u win souch fight no one cant take u that awesome feeling after u look at feeld of wrecks and few of u still standing, prrrrrrrr

I'm assuming not, even if you just look at the wording of the modules it should be self explanintory. I always tought warp scramblers should disable MWD. After all its got the 'warp' in the module name. Plus I think the changes should make for some interesting combat possibly. But none of us are psychics and will not now 100% until its out and running. So to the OP suck it up and try it out.

...except this time, "adapting" involves whining.
Any real skirmish pilot would've forseen the nerfing and made provisions to make up for it. Over-reliance on a one-trick tactic seems to be common.

The reason people are telling you nano pilots to "Adapt or die" is... well, every "nano whine" thread resulted in "Adapt or Die" being spewed by nano pilots.
Now it's the nano's turn to adapt. And you're no longer, spewing adapt or die, for some reason...
Instead, now it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah the sky is falling the sky is falling.
It's rather delicious to prove that your "Adapt or Die" mentality only applies when it's other people doing the adapting.

I find it ironic that that is all I ever heard from nano***s when I complained that rockets do zero damage to nano ships moving at engagement speed.

This is so sadly true.
Dont bother to set yourself training goals; dont train for anything specific, your gonna get hit with the nerf bat (usualy sooner rather than later)
GO GO ALL T2 weapons and ships, a nice 2 year train time to avoid your character being under par when your shipclass/race gets its turn in the "whining inspired dev loving lottery"
Dont bother seting virtaul material targets by investing billions in pods/ships/fittings as a few hundred whiners with 50M ISK drakes will have the game changed so they dont have to skill up/learn how to fly.
Dont bother thinking outside the "sand"box either; The sandbox is getting smaller and smaller, and f00king huge walls built round it.
waste. of. time.
And in answer to the common question. No; stuff is already earmarked for folks I know in game. Tears are already mixed with rum and drank down while singing a hearty sea shanty.
(I will excerice my sub money to whine on the forums; seems to be where the real game is played)

CCP does it again, while we're at it lets go ahead with that carrier nerf to.
You are taking away the only defence against a ridiculous blob. My particular hesitation about the patch is scramblers turning off mwd, sure it may make sense on the drawing board but who the hell cares. Its absolutely ridiculous, arazu's and lachesis's will be unbelievably overpowered. If you want to reduce speed, fine, but for gods sake dont overstep the mark like you always seem to do.
If something is tipped one way on your balancing scales u just move the same weight to the otherside. People moan about speed and all this other crap but all you are doing is promoting numbers in an environment that cannot handle them.
Again i find myself asking whether these changes are brought about by people who play/know the game or people who think logic+imagination (ie. huge fleet fights are epic and lag free) = fun.
Normally i dont like to complain eve is a very unique game, but these kinds of decisions just turn this game upside down, small combat is being eroded away by blobs and lag and these kinds of nerf just twist the knife.

Defense agaisnt a 'blob' is avoiding the frickin blob, using scouts to dodge camped systems, and being smart about choosing targets in a non-nano world.
If you're sitting there, with your gang, playing 'you cant catch me' to a 50 man 'blob' on a gate, are you really playing the game? Wouldnt it be better if everyone didnt have to resort to the same low slot/rig setup??? People began to tank again??? Use scouts to see if there's a camp in the next system??? In my oppinion this nano-nerf comming is the best balance made to this game since they removed the cruise kestrels. Now a "normal" pvp gang will be made of more then 5 types of hacs and 2 types of recons. Keep up the good work CCP!!!!!

You're stuck in the past, that would have been fine about 2 years ago, with the current eve population no it doesnt work you will have gangs staring at eachother through a stargate.
Im actually a huge fan of slow moving tankable ships but you theory drawing board guys dont have a clue, the game you talk of only exists in your heads, taking 2 large gangs against eachother isnt much fun at all, its a bit of a coin flip really.
Nano ships die all the time, there are already methods to combat it, ontop of that people pay for the privilige of their speed at a very high cost, yet those ships do still get caught out.
I wish it wasnt this way but an eve filled with slow tanking ships isnt an eve at all. Now i know this isnt a COMPLETE speed nerf but its too much and too soon, its changing the shape of eve combat in 1 move.

The arazu is now overpowered, because it can reduce your speed by 85% at shorter range than the rapier can use it's webs?
And the rapier has not been overpowered for all this time, reducing your speed by 99% (2 webs, you cant stack scrams to turn off MWD twice), at a longer range?
There us a delicious amount of "waah" in this thread. If you're so obsessed with speed and agility, use a frigate. You shouldn't get a 5 km/s ship that does 500 DPS with a decent tank due to resists / shield extenders.
Speed and "nano" tactics are still viable for the ships they were intended for: Frigates. HACs no longer take over the frigates role.

"Adapt or die" is a corollary of "EVE is a cold, harsh place." We all can disagree about the implementation of the two, but it's an undeniable fact.
So I would argue that it's hypocritical to claim that nerfs are bad, per se. A nerf is a nerf. Deal with it.

Investing in something very popular has always been a good way to lose your investment. Over-specialization was always risky too, even though it can provide better payoff for a while.
However, in EvE, your skillpoints towards certain things can always easily be used towards something else.
Hey, you trained Minmatar specifically for a Vagabond and now are training something else of a different race, you wasted, what, 3M SP at most (all other stuff like generic gunneries, navigations etc translate to all races). And that's if you were dumb enough to train a race for just one ship.
Also, if you fail to see the ways to adapt to this change, it just means you have no imagination and were a FOTM follower.
I thought anti-nano whiners sucked because of their horrible failure to adapt, but nano whiners suck equally bad for their failure to adapt tbh.

I think this more points to issues with battlecruisers than HACs.
When all the tier 2 BCs came out they just stomped on alot of HAC roles.
This speed nerf is an important first step... I think signature radius should be boosted in importance so that there is a decent divide between applicable targets for weapon classes.

Apparently the devs don't realize that very few people have t2 polycarbons or snake sets All the idiot nano-whiners seem to think that ships are hitting like 5 km/s+. Barring the vagabond and interceptors, the average nano-ship with a good fit and good skills will go 3.5-4 km/s IN A STRAIGHT LINE (much less orbit, thus why you have to manually control it). That is not only very killable, but it shows that the devs haven't a clue and they just used all the snazzy stuff to construct a flawed argument.

edit: im fine with you reducing speed a bit, say 10-15% maybe a bit more, but like i said its never just a slight alteration its just shifting weights.
itll be hard for triumvirate, but you'll get over it

What about a blob of nano's you toon?
Defense agaisnt a 'blob' is avoiding the frickin blob, using scouts to dodge camped systems, and being smart about choosing targets in a non-nano world.
If you're sitting there, with your gang, playing 'you cant catch me' to a 50 man 'blob' on a gate, are you really playing the game? Wouldnt it be better if everyone didnt have to resort to the same low slot/rig setup??? People began to tank again??? Use scouts to see if there's a camp in the next system??? Use--gasp--frigates again to go fast?
These nano'ers have not a god damned argument.
20 t2 snipers + cov ops vs 100 bs clumsy blob camping a gate. The cov ops sets up position and snipers warp in outside of the rage of most of the enemy blob, gank a few and use drones to force a couple cepters to disengage and warp out if more dangerous enemy come near. The clumsy blob gets peeled like a onion though several weak spots that get set up by cov ops baised on whatever tactic is the most appropriate one.
However, since nano got beyond a joke, then tactics like the above became more and more harder to do since in 5 seconds the enemy is already on top of you with 80% of their DPS. Now with nano's nerfed, people can start using tactics again to massacre clumsy blobs.

You need to let go of the past. Nano Online is dead.
The regions are setup so they have choke points for a good reason, it was never intended for you to trivially bypass these choke points. It was never intended for people to trivially bypass regional defenses to strike at defenseless targets.
Coverts and the like are designed to be the ships you take behind enemy lines, they however, they have very real weaknesses when you engage in combat. Nano's are not invulnerable but they are extremely hard to take down compared to any other ship build option.
Eve mechanics were just not designed with those kinds of speeds in mind. Tracking and explosion velocity are not remotely coded in a way that they function at all vs ships that go ridiculously fast. Everyone who has abused nano ships do so because they know the mechanics are broken and look to gain an advantage from it.
Nano ships still die, of course they do. They either die to other nano ships or it is because of pilot error, it has nothing really to do with the skill level of the other pilot. How good the defending pilot is should be a significant element in any PvP encounter.
Some elements of the changes seem extremely dubious, like knocking out MWDs in addition to a significant reduction in speed, but that is what sisi is for. I want to see a good balanced system in play where multiple styles of play are viable. I don't like it that I am a Caldari pilot and my specialization is missile combat yet it is utterly worthless against nano ships.
You just need to accept that the days of abusing speed are soon to be numbered and focus on ensuring the new mechanics that come into place create a better environment. That is the only thing the anti-nano community wants, balanced gameplay. If the nano community had the same intention things would have never got to this point.
