The first over 9000 pages of every non-whine forum would be threads with "Moved to brats n stuff" under them. Just accept it, it's not like there aren't serious discussions going on here, they're just rare and you have to find them. If you read the forum a bit, you'll recognize some people that pretty much always post constructively, and if you see a thread they've posted in, it's probably worth reading. All the other stuff: Well, it's nice for a giggle at work (just like this thread is now), but they're not gonna ban 99% (attn: made-up statistic) of the player base active on the forums. That said, time to call it a day at work \o/

However, that is for the biggest part the responsibility of the entire community. We as palyers make this forum what it is. I have to chuckle sometimes when reading these forums and references are made to for example WOW (that seems to be a populair one, especialy in the Rookie channel I could remember). It's not that the EVE forums are that much better tbh. The only reasonable general forum I have seen sofar in an MMO is LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online). That forum is ahead to others with a landslide.

Also, I think if you look there's a post by DS from a long time ago about a forum feature allowing you to block players so you never see their posts. This might work better, as it allows you to ban players from your own personal EVE forums. Finally, if you don't like these boards, go to SHC or something else like that.

I'm new so I don't know which one it is Its not as if its a secret - Goonswarm have created alot of the problems on this forum. They have admited to wanting to destroy peoples gameplay and have (with the kugutsumen incident) said they will destroy this game... I hope CCP are reinforcing their procedures against certain attacks from the goons, threadnaughts anyone? Quite simply enforce stringent rules on these forums and send them packing because quite simply they are annoying the hell out of alot of people - not to target a single group ofcorse. I can't imagine that people who are that active in the game, and in no doubt must like to play also, want to destroy it. I'll be honest here, I have about 4 different forum post characters, and I post with all 4 depending on circumstance. Some are known traders, some are known in ships and modules or on the pve side, some are known on the pvp side. They may be "alts", but for the most part, each one serves a "main" function, and is better able to post on the forums with the experience and function that they were created for. I'm sure more than one person may be on the same boat. Many times, if I were to use a different character for a specific post, calls of "STFU you don't know what you are talking about" and "use your main" or "you don't even do X Y or Z so why are you posting" get made, and unfortunately, having a "forum main" or "alt" or what have you designation would actually take away from serious posts in those cases. Yes, we have to deal with lame trolling / posting / kiddie behavior, but after a while you just get used to ignoring the kiddies anyway. Im not saying that alts shouldnt be allowed to post, my aim is to have 'mains' designated and all other characters on the account do not go through the 'warning' processes they just get banned outright for breaking any rule... whereas the 'main' gets a warning etc... It would curb alot of the problems on the forums imo. Yes and no. it's incredibly easy to get a warning on the eve-o forums. That's the problem. Even when you are posting legitimately. I do think your idea has some merit though, as long as it's only the mods who can see the main / alt flags. My issue is not that alts could / couldn't post, but that seeing posts made by "alts", even when they are legitimate, will sometimes detract from a serious post. And I have characters I use for serious issues in the POS categories, for example, that aren't necessarily "mains", and wouldn't be tagged as such. ----- free bree!
