If you get your connections skill up to level 4 you only need a corp or faction standing of about 0.47 to qualify for an agent that would otherwise need a 2.0 standing. (Which would be a level 2, base quality 0 agent you could actually use any level 2, base quality -8 or less agent in any corporation that you have a nonnegative standing with.)
Going beyond that is made much easier if you train a few levels in the social skill. You can get up to a 25% bonus in faction increases per mission.
Making money on that stuff would be made easier with the negotiations skill, which add 5 effective quality per level.
So, in summation: train up those social skills.

Nah. Just make sure you run missions for good quality agents. I now have two qty 16 lvl 2 agents and I've only spent a week doing missions. That wasn't one week either - it was a few days here and there. I've also only just got the connections skill to lvl 1.
Pick the highest quality and highest level you can. This sometimes means running boring courier missions but that's Eve for you. When have completed an 'important' mission check the agent list to see if any new ones have become available. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Try to find some very low quality level 2 agents. As close to -20 as possible, then you will need a faction standing slightly above 1.0. 1.05 for -19 and 1.10 for -18 for example.

Um connections level3 gives you an extra 1.2 corp standing (0.4 per level) so you only need connections level 3 and no existing corp standing to access level 2 agents - you only need an effective standing of 1.0 to access the worst level 2 agents, which are still loads better than the best level 1 agents. --- "Due to the European lard shortage, we are currently unable to supply this product." |

Agreed with above, I found a corp that has a -19 L2 agent, very low standing requirment. Within 2 days (admittedly about 15 hour days, and connections 3) I was doing L2 missions, and within another 2 days (shorter play times) I was doing L2 missions for a very high Effective quality L2 agent.
I just last night qualified for my first L3 agent (6 days in).. of Course I'm still only in a frigate and can't handle any of the kill missions she's giving me. I'm looking forward to at least about a week of training combat skills/ship skills before I can actually do the missions :shrugs:
