Ok guys and girls. You've read the rants about how bad Jita can be during evenings, (GMT and GMT-1 gametime,) with many of the Americans just logging in, the majority of Europeans already on, and some late night Russian players alike. With all of us contributing between 7~10 GBP's, 35Dollars and so much in other currencies; i think that Jita should be able to accomodate at least 1000 people on a multiserver system. With the amount of servers split bandwidth onto each system, surely with all the profits made, you guys can have a seperate system/bandwidth allocated accordingly? We'd all be a lot happy having to fly and open windows in the Jita system without any lag, pause, stuttering, or waiting half an hour to depart from the Caldari Navy Assembly Plant :)
How about you EvE folk get onto this and get it sorted, or at least raised at your next meeting with management!!
Regards

Yea they aren't sleeping yet, thats why jita lag, because if 10players gonna spam trash around server will have much more to work over than normally.
I personally only see one way to solve this problem, make places like jita dodi agile and similar, market connected, i mean that you buy from seller in jita and it ends in your agile hangar.

If I'm understanding right, you want Jita split onto multiple different nodes? Jita runs on it's own crazy awesome node, but there is just too much for one to handle--and splitting it between multiple would only slow things down and/or is not possible at this time. I like pie. |

I think some understanding of the server architecture is required before creating this kind of thread.
The Jita system runs on it's own node The stations in Jita run on thier own nodes. The database has a couple of nodes all backing onto the RAMSAN.
I'm sure that if you're able to design a stable multi-core real-time concurrent server solution just for jita and it's stations then CCP will gladly investigate your ideas. --- New to the API? GrabRaw XML

Why not make it so when you enter Jita, the game checks the current amount of players and logs you on to a differnt server in Jita if one server hits a specific amount of players like Guild wars does as well as give the option for players to switch back to a specific server in Jita. Of course link the market with each server. Places that are extremely populated should have that feature due to the major lag issues.

Or better yet tell the ****ers in Jita to GTFO as they're causing lag? Jita doesn't lag because the server is inadequate, Jita lags because people go into Jita until it lags.
------ Cause it can't be quoted enough.

Since europeans pay more than americans i think that Jita should be closed to americans until the europeans are sleeping. Vote against the nano nerf! |

Well there are several other major issue's that cause this lag. Being in the system doesn't cause the lag its the information being sent and requested, Example considering 1000 players.
1. The market is loaded on demand from the server, nothing client, so all pictures, text, market prices, even the scrolled to area is allocated by the server. This in itself is the poorest acquisition of data and is not necessary and this is a HUGE portion of jita's lag. If market information pictures, item info tags, were actively stored on the client you could view and browse without any need for bandwidth at a substantially faster rate.
2. Ship trajectory, speed, modules running, is all actively sending and receiving its on/off and fired or afturned state non stop. That's a lot of data every second for 500 people floating in space. That's why when you jump out of warp you can be targeted and popped before you even load the space of that area. And this is probably the biggest lag there is in eve as a whole.
3. The client of eve itself acts as a live broadcast, every re size, button click, highlight all seems to stem a instant gradual lag/slow down for every little thing you touch with the exception of the calculator.
CCP just needs to reprogram there client a bit, make a lot more information available client side that doesn't need to be requested constantly from the server and we would see such a huge gain in speed and performance the *****ing would stop indefinatly or at least close to it.

Support local business, shop in Rens. Or Hek. Or wherever.
Personally I only go to Jita to sell the rarest of the rare stuff.. I wish other people would do the same, but apparently people like the lure of the market. It's self-defining.
Perhaps part of what they need to do is make Jita prices available across the entirety of Eve, much like the Dow opening and closing and stock prices, etc. Part (though not all) of the problem is the fact that people their corp, alliance or trade channels for 'Jita PC on XXXXX', forcing a market query for that region.
Perhaps allow people to register an item for sale across several regions, for a higher cost (double % of taxes and brokerage), and also having to train a high multiplier skill with strong prereqs. 'Visibility' would be a great name for the skill, but that's already taken
If I could list an item across an Empire (eg Minmatar sovreign space) or the Universe, and make it visibible to enough buyers I don't have as much need to go to Jita to sell.
People already use the Contract market for common items because it gives them global visibility. Expanding on this would be a great idea.
I dunno, CCP: Wake up to the fact that the Caldari own the stockmarket and that people pay attention to what goes on in Jita, much like Wall St. Think up some creative tools that give people the access to the information or goods that they want without lagging the server.

Make Jita a no-fly-zone.
Once you jump thru the gate, there you are, docked on a single station. No more ship trajectories. Undocking? Only if you have a course plotted in, so the system knows where to throw you out. If you don't have it, then you either are unable to undock or you end up in the same place that you entered.
Or just make Jovians wtfpwnd Jita... :D -- R, U & Y are letters, not words... |
