Can the battleship kill the interceptor if the interceptor doesn't want to(aka, keeps it's distance/etc)?
Unless the interceptor warps away, or manages to get to 250km, yes. Because of the reduced speed and maneuverability, by the time you get locked you'll likely be 40-60km away, and the trip to 250km isn't fast enough, even on a spiral outward orbit to keep the transversal high enough to avoid being vaporized. That is the same issue in reverse. It's very unlikely you can tack in on a battleship from distance without being hit. Suicidal if there is more than one.
edit: This basically puts the role out of the interceptor, and into HICS and dictors. The 'ceptor has gone from a "get on them fast enough to hold them down" to "wait 250k out until the fight starts, then slowboat in to try and hold down support" - aka, a group of battleships and battlecruisers perform a better job at covering each other than a mixed fleet does. Between drones, neuts, medium guns, and light and medium drones, an interceptor or even group of interceptors can't really do the job of holding a single target down. The job gets passed out to tougher ships that can whitstand the punishment.
As it was, orbiting a vaga at 20km was already dicey because of hit mechanics. With the slower speeds, even medium guns will ruin your day. -----

If, using the interceptor as an example, the inty can be killed by any ship(like cruisers, battleships, etc) without it being able to do anything, then there's a problem.
I just have this slight tickle in my bum that A: this isn't that big a problem and B: it is big enough a problem to be a problem.
I'm thinking, this should go through, but then do a bit of tweaking to balance the "really bad outcomes".
Because as it sounds, i'm kinda liking the fact frigates are taken out of the battleship arena. Kinda.

I know this is very, very late, but it bears repeating. Before CCP completely breaks their game, they need to play it.

Well, considering ships in eve shouldn't even have a top speed it is all kind of moot tbh.
Bagsy the frontier style of flight where we all accelerate as much as we can before our retro thrusters kick in to decelerate us enough to stop us crashing into a large planet.
What was the common jump point to station speed? i'm sure we used to go about 15000 KM/s or something without any mods or equipment.

Fumunda as you are relatively new I'll go easy on you, as I doubt you were around last major nerf.
You started training for speed assuming this is the way it would always be in EVE. Its fair enough, you didn't know any different. But now you do. Now you realize CCP changes things for overall balance. Whining about it wont help. Now you need to think differently.
Also I find the fact you were training to nano an ishtar without even considering any other form of tank to be saddening. ________________________ Lord WarATron:

Regarding post #1:
I felt the same with the Myrmidon nerf ages ago. I maximized my drone skills to sick levels with no intentions of maxing my gunner out for a while as I was busy loving flying the Myrmidon, and all that damage that it dealt out. However when the Myrm nerf came out I died inside a bit, as I'd specialized my char for the boat, maxing drone skills all to V, with Spec skills across the board to IV and training Battlecruiser V lastly, as it was on IV for ages. So, shortly before I finished BC V, the Myrm gets nerfed. I felt jilted to say the least, but I have to admit that it was a great idea, after realizing the damage that the boat deals out when compared to the other races.
In this case, I support the decision by CCP, as they recon, as to loads of people I talk about Eve with and play with, that there are too many nano'd vessels taking the p**s. Still train up for a nano vessel as they still have their advantages. :)
Wait it out and see eh? You may feel different after the patch gets released.

ok, guess i won't be visiting the forums anymore =\ speed is overpowered, and for once, i actually agree with the devs. it's no longer an option to fly speed, it's manditory. they already tried a nerf earlier, and it only really nerfed the Typhoon.
but it's kind of getting annoying. first Amarr was overpowered with the 7 heatsink geddons -> nerf then it was branded Caldari Online for the EW and ravens -> EW nerf then it was dampners on everything -> nerf during that time minmatar was called Might Aswell Train Another Race -> became manditory now speed is the fotm and is manditory in almost every fight so, -> nerf

Responding in fail thread #9001 about snakes on a plane and adding nothing of relevance with another satirically charged and meme saturated poast...?
I'm actually getting sick of all these threads, so I'm going to say what I never thought I'd say publicly, and that is adapt or die. Speed was getting out of hand and anyone that says only Snake set owners were achieving insane speeds (for some reason this is a popular argument) is delusional or running propaganda against facts.
Yes, the nerfbat is harsh, just like the game world. I've experienced it many times myself.

I agree that speed seemed to be a problem to me on the larger ships, Hac's and such so as far as the nerf go's I don't mind it there but on the other end of things I think that the Ceptors should be left as they are.
I don't fly them but have seen many used in combat and they appear to be working as they should in my op. Ceptors should be the king of speed in the game but yet still remain a frig with the small frig cap and structure so they are still vulnerable. I have seen many ceptors taken out while preforming what they were meant to do as it is and I see no reason to slow them down. All slowing a ceptor down is going to do is make it more cost efective to take a fast T1 frig to do the ceptors job or some other ship with more armor.
Again I only see the uber nano Hacs and such as any kind of nano speed problem let the ceptor do what it is designed to do.

The problem is that now the blob, what you guys claim to dread, is Nano. Almost everyong flys nano in PvP... there is no diversity or variation, you either fit for speed or get overwhelmed by those that do.
nanogangs are fun and easy to kill. They don't blob because if you are flying a papership and there is a lot of lag you don't even have to make any mistake to die.
By taking speed out of the picture they are not only dumbing down the gameplay, but discouraging any kind of solo/small gang work.
Sorry my friend, most pilots (including speed tanking specialists) disagree with you on most counts.
I would suggest getting your facts straight, read the arguments for and against that the veteran pilots have posted, and then get back to us.

The reason i ask is that if the above is correct, this might be a step towards a more realistic battle scenario where one frigate should NOT go near a battleship.
If the battleship can't fight frigates, and the frigates can't fight battleships(one on one), then it would force fleets to have more frigate vs frigate, cruiser vs frigate, cruiser vs cruiser etc fights and leave the big boys fight amongst eachother.
Unless ofcourse you fit a battleship for a destroyer role.
Because we all want that realistic scenario. What you're suggesting removes nano as the supposed solopwn, and makes BS solopwn. --

Yes, nano ships can be taken down if you specialize your fittings and know what you are doing. There are a large number of people posting on this that have killboards full of dead nano ships (IE. your "I killed a nano ship once so I'm special" isn't scoring you any points). This does not change the fact that they are out of balance with the rest of the game.
Difference is good, out of balance is bad.
How can you say that most pilots disagree? Look at the vote threads in Assembly Hall, I believe you might be mistaken. --

Heh, Marcus, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
The voting thread Pro is full of nano pilots and all of their 16 alts/accounts. Look at the names, do some checking, you'll see what I mean.
More to the point, many of those that have voted against the nerf as it stands now have expressed the opinion that "something" needs to be done... they just aren't happy with one part of the patch or another... not taking into consideration that these values are out there to be experimented with and tweaked and are not meant to be final.
So no, most pilots do NOT think the status quo should stand as it is. Many are not pleased with the current state of affairs on Sisi and that is fair enough, but the mature players in the game recognize that things are a bit out of whack now.
