  Exceptionally long and frequent downtimes
  Cluster Full 24/7
Lag shifts between bad and terrible
Patchlogs are close to non-existant and the info within thin as water
Chaos used to be a nice featured service. At the moment it's turned close to worthless though. I think most players can do without it, but having it back at the pre-hardware-upgrade standards would be a luxury treasured by many

I don't know if it is actually supposed to be a service. Its a test server where devs can try out their new stuff, and then let players do it, since they like hanging in there.

If the cluster is full 24/7, how can you say that it's dying ? :)

I think that there is quite a lot of idle players, therefore in my opinion, introducing a X hours/week quota per account would be a good idea.

I think most people sign on then stay on even when there AFK, so if there was say a 20-30min timeout when the session would expire it would likely clear out alot of the idlers.

 Quota - NO!
Idle kick - yes, after more than 10 minutes.

There's shouldn't be any limit to how much testing you're allowed to do.

Yeah i think it's time the devs upgraded the 486 they run the chaos server on so then more peeps could log on

If the test server was bigger(able to handle more people), then we would have less problems with a patch goes live, because it would more thoroughly tested.

How hard would it be to upgrade from the current abacus powering Chaos, to a 386sx or something?

I agree that a quota qould be a bad idea, and I really like the idea of a Timeout/idle period of say 10-15 minutes... this would encourage people to actually test things and not just sit there doing nothing thus keeping others from being able to test things.

As for the lag, yes it IS terrible a LOT of the time I've been able to login to chaos. The downtime I have no issues with.. means they are working on things which I like to see. Perhaps upgrading/changing the server to be capable of supporting say 50 people, but still limiting it to 31 (though 35 would be nice) I think there would be far less issues with lag etc.

 Just my 2 isk.

While I have to agree this is a free server etc, I must admit that of late Chaos has been quite shocking. It's nearly always down or full, and once you're on, you can't do anything because the lag is nail-bitingly bad. An upgrade would be much appreciated, or at least some sort of fix for the lag!

anything under 30 minutes is too short of an idle time in my honest opinion.

and I heard somewhere that Chaos is being run on an ancient laptop, Dont know if it's true or not thou :P

a timeout on idlers is most definately needed, maybe 10 minutes, or even less.

As I'm usually the type who tries to support his statements allow me to add this (trying to remain constructive rather then just complaining)..

While logged into chaos last night (which I was shocked to find wasn't full at the time) lag wasn't too bad for the first 20-30 minutes I was online, fairly normal I'd say considering warp-in lag, etc. Then lag got steadily worse untill the server either crashed or was shut down. Later that day I attempted to login again (I usually have to stay up till 4-6 am EST to even get a chance to login :() it took quite literally 10 minutes to authenticate, now attempting ot test if it was my connection or not I connected to TQ.. took 30 seconds.. this is by no means hte first or only time it's taken so stupidly long for the login process to complete for chaos. I'd seriously hope CCP is willing to make some changes to ammend this situation.. to that end I offer my time and assistance in gathering info about latency, login issues etc. I want to be able to login and test htings.. as is the purpose of chaos.. would be nice if it worked.

 be well all.

Why? You're not supposed to leave for lunch while logged in on chaos.
