Edited by: Captain Roberts on 01/08/2008 21:23:58 Hello,
Apologies for my previously snipped posts. It seems I have to be a member of a PC-run corporation to post here. Fortunately, I joined one last night.
Now, I'd like to revisit the BoB strategy.
The complaints I've read on these forums are that:
A) BoB is taking down weakly defended systems
And
B) BoB's strategy is boring.
My contention as an uninvolved 3rd party observer is that BoB's strategy is brilliant.
First, by attacking weakly defended systems, BoB ensures easy victories and high morale amongst its operatives.
Second, because the systems are 'weakly' defended but not entirely undefended, BoB is gradually destroying resources belonging to the enemy. I can't imagine that 3 titans and the other equipment on site were inexpensive to create or replaceable on short notice. Some have said that the 3 titans were enroute to join the main fleet, which means that BoB's strategy has denied 3 hugely powerful vessels to the enemy.
Third, BoB is forcing the defending alliance to make some difficult choices. If they continue to bunch up their forces in a few systems, then they are forced to watch as their Empire is ripped apart. If they spread forces to defend their remaining space, then they risk losing their navy piecemeal to a massed assault.
Finally, because their strategy is 'Boring' and 'Frustrating', BoB is encouraging their opponents to make an error due to emotional discomfort.
I am hard pressed to find a single area where the BoB strategy is flawed. Unless a counter is developed to their advance, victory seems inevitable. I do hope some kind of defense can be managed against this strategy, because I would not want to see BoB rise to the prominence of which they aspire. Namely, placing every capsuleer directly or indirectly under their yoke.

I wonder, maybe those people talking about 'weakly defended systems' can enlighten me.
If systems are not important, then why are there cyno jammers in?
If systems are not important, why were there 3 titans doing each at least one doomsday blast?
If systems would be not important, wouldn't there be any cyno jammer or titan defending force at all?
Obviously this is all too complicated for me, but I would think that unimportant systems have neither jammers nor would be multiple titans in there trying to blast the attackers away.

The "flaw" is that as soon as BoB get bored and go back home the nc will simply regroup and it'll be business as usual within a month!
I mean its happened a few times already. Personally though I think BoB enjoy their annual turkey shoot up in the north and are careful not to totally destroy the eco-system. So as to guarantee a healthy population next year..

1. When you have had sov in a system for a long time it hits sov 3, then you can put up a cynojammer. Has nothing to do with the importance of a system.
2. AFAIK, the 3 titans were on there way to another system were the fleet had gathered. It had nothing to do with BoB presence. (correct me if im wrong)
3. No probably not.
Not really complicated if you think about it.

Hello,
Apologies for my previously snipped posts. It seems I have to be a terrible poster to post here. Fortunately, I am such a poster.
Now, I'd like to revisit the BoB strategy.
The complaints I've read on these forums are that:
A) BoB is taking down weakly defended threads
And
B) BoB's posting is boring.
My contention as a mildly ******ed grade schooler is that BoB's strategy is brilliant.
First, by attacking weakly defended threads, BoB ensures easy victories and high morale amongst its posters.
Second, because the threads are 'weakly' defended but not entirely undefended, BoB is gradually destroying the remaining decent posting on this forum. I can't imagine that the titan and the other equipment in Jake Noble's thread were inexpensive to create or replaceable on short notice. Some have said that the titan was enroute to join Lady Scarlet, which means that BoB's strategy has denied two hugely powerful vessels to the enemy.
Third, BoB is forcing the defending posters to make some difficult choices. If they continue to bunch up their posts in a few threads, then they are forced to watch as CAOD is ripped apart. If they spread posters to defend their remaining space, then they risk losing their posters piecemeal to a massed assault.
Finally, because their strategy is 'Boring' and 'Frustrating', BoB is encouraging their opponents to make an error due to asdfdasasdasd.
I am hard pressed to find a single area where the BoB strategy is flawed. Unless a counter is developed to their advance, victory seems inevitable. I do hope some kind of defense can be managed against this strategy, because I would not want to see BoB rise to the prominence of which they aspire. Namely, placing every capsuleer directly or indirectly in a terrible thread, such as this.

You're really overdoing the empires ripped apart bit...
All bob has done is knock out RA moon miners for the first 2 weeks, which RA doesn't defend at all.
Then bob has hit some station systems that belong to RA, they are pretty much looking for anywhere that they can get their caps in before having to fight the NC fleet.
Their FCs blame NC titans for everything but they are rarely used, unlike the bob titans which are used for everything.
As far as the boring part goes, you are correct, MAX is just another bob roam into the north.
For the third time in a row, bob moves to pure blind and then within a week a storyline event is announced there. They just don't happen when bobs not around. Wonder what sweet loot they are being given now? Jovian DDs with 15 minute cooldowns?

Gathering hundreds of pilots in one system prevents to be attacked by a large fleet due to the immense lag while loading the grid for the incomers
Bob's strategy is nothing more than to do something to occupy his members at doing something, and not see them quit EVE due to the boredom of an uncontested military and tactic superiority, established for years now.
MAX is designed to impress Bob members only, I don't think they care about what people think about it. That's why all these Bob and MAX threads and comments are pointless and uninteresting despite of the efforts made by some posters to relate things neutraly in CAOD.
This is just my opinion, but if you think I'm wrong, tell me what else Bob could have done to keep his pilots being interested to remain in EVE ?

So far BoB has been demolishing RA assets in the North. The northern napfest hasn't been hit yet but you make it sound as if they are already sieged.
Also, what does RA care if they lose the stations up North? The isk loss is nothing compared to what they had already gained from when they took the stations and moons.
So where does BoB go after knocking RA out of the North? Seems silly they would continue north leaving the goons unscathed which are BoB's nemesis. Besides continuing North will only strengthen the RAGOON/Northern bond at a time where both parties have been growing apart. |

I'm of the opinion BoB is like a rock climber setting themselves every greater challenges built upon their feeling of invincibility. They have beat the rest of eve once and are ****ing off everyone they can so that they band together and take another shot at BoB and they get to bat eve again.

Bob's strategy is actually quite obvious. They are depriving the Russians of their moon mining empire so they are forced to eat more of their "allies".
Which will break up the "Southern Coalition" which really doesn't exist anymore.
