I chose minmitar because it was the best looking avatar I could create.
found out later I had to train everything to make good fitted minmitar ships... then I discovered interceptors and have preffered them ever since. what can I say... I like being small and fast.

Hahaha, well lets face it Minmatar rock. CCP even had to nerf faction warfare after the TLF took a half dozen systems in the first couple of weeks. Now it seems nigh on impossible to to gain enough VP in time to get a system vulnerable.
Now I like a fast ship as much as the next Thukker half breed but I also fly some meaty tankers, snipers and E-War ships. Minmatar are a race of versitility. We have all these split systems to reflect that. Just look at all the roles you can fit a Typhoon for for instance.
While the need to train a broad spectrum of skills is a drawback at first that can be overcome by specialising in one or two ship types first, then cross training. i.e. do armour tankers first, then train shield tankers. Specialise in inties before snipers, whatever you fancy.
The end result is that if you stick mostly with Minmatar ships whenever something gets rebalanced you have the broad skills to quickly adapt to the new environment. I reckon all the whiners that wanted to see the Vagabond (self proclaimed fasted cruiser in the game and you are suprised it's fast!?!?!) killed off will get a nasty suprise after this patch.
The Minmatar are famous for guerilla warfare. A large part of that is speed and agility. Traverse a large area of space before the enemy can lock down systems, get some kills then get out while they are still in confusion. Some of the most fun PvP for me is taking 5-6 guys in fast ships and going to pick off ships in a fleet of 40 odd sluggish battleships. Now a lot of people will say this is proof that speed is uber but the fact is you can't easily kill a mosquito with a cannon, so bring a fly swat. Those who know speed know how to trap a fast ship and cut it in half. All of this has been argued to death.
I still want guerilla warfare to be an option, BS in fleet formation don't pump my nads. I just hope that with testing and feedback from the test server that CCP have the wisdom to do this right. Anyone concerned with how this will play out should get on Singularity and join the testing. Give contructive feedback and ideas to the devs.
At the end of the day we'll adapt and the people who can't think beyond "30 BS Focus Fire" will still die.

Just to clarify. I am FAVOR of speed nerf.
But contrary to most people here I passed 5 days in the test server. And I am terrified by the concept that now mimatar ships are the HEAVIEST of all the ships. And cannot accelerate or even turn. What you think of a vagabond that to orbit a bs at 10 km must reduce its speed to 500ms? Because faster than that and its not agile enough to keep under scrambler range?
So yes, Minmatar IS DEAD as of SISI patch. Worse tank, worse capitals, shortest range sniper, Alpha strike worths ntohing due to HP increases, barely faster than ammar, lower capacitor ammount, lowest damage ships, heaviest ships, cannot use MWD puling to try control range anyore (so AC with barrage are worthless now).
So did I missed anything?

There's just no point in posting well thought out and informed opinions here.. people will not read it, and just tell you your tears taste delicious. Your best bet will be posting in the Game Development forum's speed feedback thread.
But I would personally start crosstraining other races already...

Let's not forget the Amarrian players (yes, like myself) who need to have crazy-ass cap skills - need to keep the targets at an exact range to do anything - needed to cope with nos issues before it was nerfed - need to have AWU 5 to fit anything useful...etc....etc...etc...

It's always a 'dear friend of mine' or 'my corp mate'... why don't you actually create a Matari character and see for yourself. Also, while the tempest and cane *may* be okay now on the live server, things do not look bright for them if these changes go through. btw the Tempest is universally considered to be one of the worst bs's now. I know it used to good, when alpha was in the game, but now...? Alot of people are stuck in the past, when the Pest was a good ship. Please actually create a Matari character before you go saying 'they're fine'.

You are either a serious noob in the game or you can only use shitty setups on the Tempest or the Vagabond if you think those 2 ships are crap now.
If you have seen my Tempest on sisi now, also in fights against others, then you know why the Tempest owns.
So far i have been fighting 6-7 Megathrons, 2 Maelstroms, 1 Kronos. And i have killed 5 Megathrons, 2 Maelstroms with my tempest, to only 2 Tempest losses.
The Kronos was down at 10% structure when i popped. But that was only because i managed to blow up one gun earlier in the fight. So i only had 5 guns in maybe like 70% of the fight.
So if i didn't had overloaded my guns to much and have had all 6 guns, i would kill that Kronos to in my Tempest.
So again, anyone who whine that Tempest / Typhoon or Vagabond sucks, they are players that should NEVER EVER be allowed to fly the Minmatar race.

Also, while the tempest and cane *may* be okay now on the live server, things do not look bright for them if these changes go through. btw the Tempest is universally considered to be one of the worst bs's now. I know it used to good, when alpha was in the game, but now...? Alot of people are stuck in the past, when the Pest was a good ship. Please actually create a Matari character before you go saying 'they're fine'.

I can fly all T1 ships, but all my T2 ones are Caldari... No question, Minmatar will be the WORST race to fly after this. They are in even worse situation than Amarr were before their recent boost.
Minmatar ships are:
1. Fragile (worst tanks in game)
2. Dependant on speed
3. Skill intensive because you need drone, projectile, and missile skills
Take the speed away, and they don't work at all.
Sad thing is my Caldari missile boats are going to get a huge boost.
Now, missile boats DID need a pvp boost... But not this!

Having said that I'll now proove it. The only part of my post you seem to have read was it's not my Tempest. Nope it was my Abaddon. My shreaded, thank got that was for fun and not real, yay I still have it, hopelessly outmatched Abaddon. [only 1k dps and a 100k effective tank]

Lots of matari ships can put out he hurt and since you don't need your cap to shoot you can have a lot more fun with cap intensive nasty surprises like Neuts.
If I knew then what I know now about Minis' I would likely have rolled one. As things stand I read lasers and picked Amarr. It's now a point of pride not to cross train.
Both the matari and the amarr are skill intensive. We get a lot of weenies training the FOTM for our ships when they are in the limelight, Curse [until the ECM and Nos nerf] Nano crap now [Pending the much deserved fix.]
The real players adapt to balancing, look foward to learning the new rules of combat and realize that training the FOTM is stupid. It never lasts.

I believe the above poster is confusing the Maelstrom and the Tempest. 
The Mael is the one with the tanking bonus. The 'pest has an 8/5/6 slot layout, IE, nowhere to fit a tank that matches up to the "standard" (IE, 6 slot shield tank, 7-8 slot armor tank).
In fact, the Maelstrom is universally superior as a lone ship. The benefit of the Tempest is that it has two utility slots for remote repairs (Or neuts, if you like.). It also uses no cap with it's guns, and has plenty of midslots for sensor boosters/eccm/etc...
So, it's not a solo ship or an enormous tanker. No minmatar ships are (save for the nano's, which aren't doing so well with this patch. ).
But, as always, EFT isn't everything. Minmatar ships are versatile. Use this to your advantage. You don't have to outgank a Megathron in EFT to be as useful as one.
Also, did I miss the Memo where we decided that every Minmatar ship had to be speed tanked to have an advantage in agility / speed?

Who's the idiot? If you knew anything about minmatar BS, you'd know Tempest has the worst tank of all BS in the game.
The Maelstrom now, that has a good tank, but it's a Tier-3 BS, and the Rokh will beat it both damage- and tank-wise unfortunately.

I was refering to the Tier 3 bs from hell. I may have seen Clear Skies a few too many times though. (It features the other one.)
Reguardless, you are an idiot and I didn't know the name of the ship. I do know to call the damn things primary unless they have EWAR or NEUT support. (Thank devs for the little picture on the lock)

Stupid speed is not being nerfed, they are nerfing the only useful speed counter (Huginn, Rapier) by killing webs and not giving the ship a new bonus to speed reduction. I personally like my solo huginn, and there is not a lot of ways to get the damage output needed to kill many ships (drake for instance) without fitting damage mods, which would mean... oh yeah, less tank for a race that is already in a f-ing multiple personality disorder frenzy over primary weapon systems and tanks...
I'm just glad I can fly a sleipnir very soon, as it seems to be my only minmatar option for the type of flying I like to do.
Don't get me wrong, I can fly other races. I just don't find any of them remotely enjoyable other than my gankathron which is gonna have some issues with range if my MWD gets cut off... ------------ CCP > Let's play the nerf a race game! Next up minmatar! |

I would almost bother checking to see how many kills you have in any ship type, but you appear to be a spineless alt.

And it's not an issue of training FOTM for some of us... it is a matter of a good portion of my SP being rendered more or less useless. Just a simple example on how matari ships can be corrected. Easy.. simple.
On tempest and typhoon , correct the SHield/Armor HP bias. They are armor tankes with more shield than armor. Invert those values. After resists applied that results in usually 10 k more EHP.
Correct Ammo. 2 things. EMP is horribble ammo. Our primary damage shoudl be explosive not EM. Switch fusion with EMP.
Make Highest damage projectile ammo equal damage ammount to antimatter and to multifrequency.
Be sure minmatar are still slightly more agile than other races.
ONLY THAT. Very simple stuff.. VEry simple. And I cannot beleive anyone can call them TO ASK TOO MUCH. Only change those things and the minmatar BS will be at least more on par with other races. ------------------------------------------------- If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough

First off ROFL at nano whiners who dont know how to play any other way. Welcome to Eve Online, and the world the rest of us live in.
I think its incredible how one dimentional nano whiners are. Because speed is being reduced by a well warranted amount they think its being reduced 100%. They dont seem to comprehend that speed will still be there and that mwd will go much faster than AF still. Hmmm, amazing.
Just becuase it is being lowered does not mean it is non-existant. Please adjust your limited brain capacity and try to understand that.
Last. I agree, how many YEARS did we amarr players say that we were underpowered and needed a boost??? 3??? And then finally they gave us a minor boost but we still have plenty of problems. Keep that in mind.
Also, I have min ships as an amarr character. Why? Becuase they are fun and I enjoy flying them. Guess what? They arent even nanoed (GASP!) They are CONVENTIONAL, and they are still competitive. So, please evaluate your thinking or I shall have to laugh at you some more.

Many of us just think that CCP is going about fixing things in a way that will severely screw up the Minmatar race in general. Nerf nanos. But give us Minmatar something else - fix our issues that were being masked by the Nanos (Artillery, clip sizes, optimal ranges, inverted armor/shield ratios, split weapon types and split bonuses, etc, etc).
Also Jaz, you know that on the test server, the Matari ships aren't even the lightest/most agile anymore, right? They're not going to be so fun for you to fly, either.
One more thing, speed being reduded across the board affects the Minmatar the most, it's a matter of percentages (20% of 1000 is alot more than 20% of 50). Since we were the fastest ships, we are being hit the hardest. Do you think you can wrap your limited brain around that ...? :)
