Edited by: Silverlancer on 31/05/2004 00:41:52 Nice fight PIE. Nice shooting... you were only one tachyon shot away from smoking my Thorax when I got away . Really, no sarcasm... nice battle. Thank you PIE.
It would have been a lot more fun if it was actually, remotely possible to destroy the impoc (its hard when concord guards it with their entire fleet and 8 omgultrauberwowsentries), but still, it was fun

Silverlancer, you werent supposed to bring the ship down.
The event was to transport the ship from its current location to Amarr. Terrorists like yourself took it upon youselves to try and destroy a well crafted creation.
Next time, dont play the terrorist.

Whilst I understand your frustrations at not having a 'free for all' at the imperial apocalypse you have to remember this was not a CCP engineered event. The events team simply provided assistance to get it off the ground.
Congratulations to all involved!

Silverlancer...
The Impoc was tanked by our CVA allies Imperial Dreams...
When we heard that a suicide fleet was gathered it was the wise course of action...
We had assumed that the enemies of PIE and CVA would attack us in full force allowing the other suiciders to engage the Imperial Apoc. We also had to defend from the Minmatar (Events team).
It was our duty to ensure that the Imperial Apoc made it safe to Amarr and it did. We destroyed around 30/35 enemies with whom we were at war (mostly in frigs).
We also lost a few ships to Concord - due to the excessive lag and the slow scanner response...
All in all we had good fun though despite how slow everything got!
We salute Ionstar for this gesture and for returning the Apoc to the Empire.
We also salute Imperial Dreams, Dark Seraph and Elite Force who acted as guards to the Imperial Apoc during its journey!

I am very surprized there is no one crying about now it went. I was on the losing side.
Other than the lag, it was a fun event. I am glad to be a part of it.

good night, good fight
all you enemies showing up made the event even more fun. thanks to all of you.
on the impoc imo it's only fair to have the one who won it and decides to donate it getting it to amarr safe.

PIE would like to thank IonStar for their noble gesture in returning the Imperial Apoc to the Empire.
We also wish to thank our fellow CVA pilots who helped us including Imperial Dreams and Dark Seraph as well as other corps including Elite Force and BlackSheep who all played a role in seeing the successful return of the Imperial Apoc - despite the efforts of massed Minmatars.
Some pictures:

Massed ships outside Emperor Station in Amarr salute the successful return of the Imperial Apoc
(Unfortunately some careless driving severely damaged the two Apocs in the last picture )

I remembered locking on to a minnie Breacher, even scrambling him. He of course, fired his cruise missiles at me, thinking I would attack him.
While I on the other hand, didn't, knowing what cruises will do on a major blobfest like this. Even though we're legal to engage each other.
The misisles hit some bystander, sentry guns did their work, tore the Breacher in a single volley, and left a nice little pod.

Uh...quick question...if this was a "almost" event...then what does BIG have to do with it...and why were we all duped into believing there was an actual Imperial Apoc to be won...and where are those billions supposedly raised by BIG?
I can only speak for myself here...but I entered that contest under the pretense there was an Imperial Apoc to be won...not a quasi CCP engineered event. I would like my money back.
I may be the only one in this boat...but I'm kinda unhappy about wasting my cash hoping to win a ship that really wasn't being given away.
What's up???

There WAS an imperial apoc to be won... you just didn't win it. The person who DID win it gave it back to the empire. As for the billions, they will be split and given away in the next 2-3 big lottos.
There's no conspiracy... quit trying to make one.

Unfortunately, I couldn't be at the event. However, just reading about it has been entertaining. I think CCP did a good job of taking player driven events, and turning them into Official ingame content. This is what people have been whining about for months. The inability of the player to affect the game world. Now that it's happening, don't complain. That would be a great way to guarantee it never happens again.
It's nice to see this happening, and I hope it's the beginning of a trend. Good job CCP!

After winning one of the games most coveted ships...worth so much...why would someone just give it away?
Thanks, MrBinary

I can think of a few.
1) That ship is going to be a massive "SHOOT ME" sign wherever it's flown. Therefore, it will sit idle in station, or get destroyed. Either way, you don't get much use out of it.
2) If you're a RP'er, it's the right thing to do. From a RP standpoint, the Gallente who gave the ship to BIG shouldn't have had it in the first place. It was the rightful property of the Tash-Murkon Heir. A true Amarr citizen would give it back to it's proper owner. RP is important to some people. Perhaps more important than having an Uber-ship.
I'm glad it didn't just sit in someones hangar as a trophy, at any rate.

Congrats on getting the Impoc back home, though that isn't what I would have done if I had won.

I can fully understand Ionstars decision. I would have done something similar. "Don't fly anything you can't afford to lose" is a general rule for small time players, and it looks like Ionstar is sticking to it. Applause to you. ---------------- What's a rumor on page one is a fact on page two |

While generally miffed over the mishandling of the lottery, I've slowly realised a couple of things:
IONSTAR could've made 4-10B isk from this event. Instead, they chose to enhance the RP environment for those who like that sort of thing and for that I think we should be thankful.
It's just a pity that m0o can't blow this one up
It'd be nice if CCP could work the storyline of the return into an EVENT where m0o terrorists try to hijack it or something......

Who says they didn't get anything in return? My guess is they got a full set of BS bpo's at least. I could be wrong too. If they did get something for it, good on ya Ionstar. If you did it and got nothing, good on ya Ionstar. Either way this corp is the talk of eve. Can't beat the publicity. Wish I could have been there.

Few more screenshots of the event. So much fun. I don't think I've ever seen Tempests succumb to "laser death" so quickly before. In a twisted way I kind of felt bad for the Minnie terrorists (event staff).

Thanks for the vid. I actually see more of the battle of Kador gate in this video than I did at the time - my lag had reduced me to 1 fps. What a great laser display

(OOC) It was fantastic. The players were all well behaved. I witnessed no smack (plenty of lag). The fleets esemabled on both sides were amongst the biggest I have seen, I was proud to be a part of it.
Even my cry of "For Corin!!" Added some falvour for me. Okay I'm still beaing hunted in Kador Prime by CC thanks to a bug in the game, but I have to congratulate everybody and a well crafted player created event. We didn't get the Impoc, I never expected we would, but the fun was actaually being there. And sitting there in a pod wtahincg one of the biggest Empire Space battles I've ever witnesses was well worth the loss of my Kestrel, the CRS Nevermore.
Cograts to both parties, and thanks for letting me be part of it ---------------------------------

Well done to Ionstar for making this all possible, by handing the ship back; to the CVA fleet doing what it had to do in protecting this iconic ship and my friends and allies for mustering such an enormous suicide force!
This is a little bit from my 30 seconds or so in the battle, as the suicide wave i was part of jumped in:

btw, i posted 3 screenshots (not that great though) of the Imperial Apoc in the screenshot section last night. I also forgot to turn off Fraps while following the Amarr fleet all the way to Ammar in my Vigil, so now i have about 30 minutes of file footage (with sound) that i dont really know what to do with.
