This topic has been brought up before, and I feel it needs to be addressed.
Missiles need to come out of their launcher ports, not arbitrarily drop out of the center of the ship. When a drake fires 7 missiles at the same time, I should be able to COUNT 7 missiles coming out of it, instead of seeing a single ball of light as if they were tied together with bungee cords. Since I'm sure the CCP resident graphic designers aren't doing anything else(except nerfing our lovely pink skins), it won't tie over any current brains to fix balance/lag/etc.
Also, local skins please. Or have an option to right click a character and load/unload skins. Yes, I want a hello-kitty tempest.
Double also, fix the sounds. Artillery needs to sound menacing (I believe the 1200 scout is the best sounding one at the mo - don't quote me on that though), and missiles could use something that sounds better than a deflating balloon.
Triple also, fix the warp sound. This is one of the big reasons I have sound off.

They are working on remaking planets, asteroids, and other celestial objects and TBH that is more important than a launcher animation.

each missile should be invisible(equipped with a cloak) and put supressors on the autocannons/artillery

Full disagree. I'm usually nowhere near planets or asteroids, but I always tend to be firing guns...

lucky for you then gun animations work fine.
I believe this has been addressed before however and the reason it hasnt been fixed yet is the problem is alot more complex then it appears and has to do with how missile turrets are coded on to ships etc.

Lucky for CCP, they designed the game and can actually fix these issues, coded or not. The engine itself shouldn't have any issue with it, so it's really CCP saying "ehhh, too much work, sux4u".
EVE would be a lot more popular IMO if they worked on animations/planets/trails/sounds/warp/whatever. When you go into warp for the first time, you should say "Cooooool!" instead of "Ohh... OW shit that hurts".

Yeah. When I sit in my chair, frantically mashing the F keys and yelling "MR. WORF! MISSILES! FULL SPREAD!" at the top of my lungs, I want my computer to give me a better show than one stupid ball of light whooshing somewhere out of the middle of the hull.
I like the warp sound, though.

I like the warp sound as well. I've cried out for missile launcher animations and separate launchers on the ships like turrets before as well :(
However, I can't stand that damn cloak/uncloak "noise". THAT is why I have the sound turned off or down most of the time. It seems to come from the front center speaker mostly, so I turn it down when I start up EVE. I think it's annoying as hell and makes no sense to me :/ I think the cloak/uncloak noise should me more like a soft crackle or something. Like a low static noise.
/signed in futility as we all know CCP will ignore us anyway....

I strongly disagree with this sentiment. I, as a player do not directly interact with planets/moons - they represent waypoints that I can warp to and little more. Even in a different sense our relationship with moons is limited to sticking a POS up and having crap randomly appear at set intervals. The planets by and large are nothing more than background scenery - much of the time they are little more than especially bright points of light. When I'm close enough to marvel at planets I'm probably doing something with my ship, and observing other ships, and firing weapons and whatnot.
Eye candy won't ever break a game but it certainly can enhance the experience. Immersion is important in ANY MMO, and Eve honestly utterly fails in this regard. The sound design is so wretched that I just turn the things off (because how many times can you really stand to hear a laser cycle, the warp rumble or missiles detonate?). The graphics themselves are lackluster - yes the ships look fancier and shiner these days but every time my drake pops missiles out of the center of it's mass rather than from the unmistakeable missile launchers it bugs me.
A big part of the draw in many MMO's is gearing your character - in WOW (strike me down if I again this year speak of WOW without voicing contempt) changing out your gear changes the way your character looks. One can tell a well geared player by a mere glance - in EVE the differences are slim at best. Guns are placed haphazardly on most ships, amarr being the exception in that they appear to place their guns in batteries for effective broadsides like you'd expect a race who'se design philosophy revolves around several meters of armor and the biggest guns you can find. Most ships don't look like they were designed to fly in space much less engage in brutal ship to ship combat. Is it too much to ask that a ship be designed so that it's weapons appear in logical, reasonable places (the hyperion for example ought to have guns sticking out of the nose and along the sides - because it is a blaster boat meant to fight head to head at point blank range).
Will such changes resolve the major issues the game faces? Nope - but immersion when found in video games is almost magical. I'm sure most of us have played Guitar Hero at some point, and those of us who don't let our skeptacism destroy the experience will find from time to time for the briefest of moments you catch a glimpse of what it might be like to be rock star.

Graphics & sound could use some lifting i agree. Trinity was good, but it could always be better.
And TBH i dont think that adding some extra animations would be that hard, or that difficult. Most PCs can cope with much more stuff nowadays.

Fully agreed , CCP should change sound effect+and not techno theme musics this is the easiest to do. For a game graph can be super but the sounds+music will make the atmosphere of the game awesome and unforgetable. So change that pityfull arty sounds, made for kids not to wet their pants, to real devastation sound effects + little quake animation on the ship it fires :)
Oh and game needs much more sounds too so it wont get repeatating, which is realy fustrating after some hours play like warp/cloak/jump sounds.Thats why most of us just turn off or down the audion in EVE.
About missiles yeah would be nice to have launcher places for them, but i would like more if missiles would have "smoke" trail. Oh and pls make shield hit effects too it just doesnt feel right that enemy shells/missiles land on your ship when you still have shield left.

I don't care how much you want to keep the game role played, local skins attract a lot of potential players. Most of the more popular games have some kind of modifiable aspect to it; I'm almost surprised eve doesn't.
Man, this would make eve so awesome

I would also love to see how many missiles are incoming. "Ohh, there is only three....wtf!" Same goes for every gun. If they fear performance in fleet battles...well tone it down when there is like 50+ missiles in the air.

if you don't like one big ball of light then don't fire the missiles all at the same time and delay them a little and you'll get lots of little balls of light
as for the animation.... well i've never seen a missile launcher on my ships when i've fitted them so why not just have them coming out the front?

:/
You should fire them all at the same time and see 7 missiles coming out 7 different firing ports.

On another node... shields. I want to see shield reflecting shit when a ship isn't into armor. That would be nifty.
For any of you who dig effects look up Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.
And play it, its a GREAT game too. But astounding to look at... and its old!
I'd rather they fix the sound in this game before doing anything to the graphics (although I agree, some things could use fixing including missiles). Also, add some damn antialiasing support, lol, but most importantly for me, fix the sound. Fix the volume spikes, add some actual surround support, improve the sound quality, add some voices, yada yada. I have several hundred bucks of audio equipment that mostly sits idle when playing EVE because the sound is so craptastical, haha, but it'd really improve the feel of the game I think if they'd overhaul it.
