The majority hold Russian passports.
Now, the question is, why do they hold Russian passports?
Chechnya anyone?

Edited by: Ryysa on 08/08/2008 15:28:55 Obviously they hold russian passports, because they are russian...
And I don't think georgians like russians very much and vice versa. And since the majority of the people in that region are russian... A leads to B leads to C...
Probably the only decent solution is to get out all georgians who want to get out and give the province it's independence... But that would be admitting defeat for Georgia, and they are too proud for that.

Quick everyone start playing RA 2, WIC and any other training simulators you can think of using to help! We must be prepared for the red bear! He'll be coming down Fulda gap any day now! The fall of the Soviet Union was all a hoax!

I'll point you to England and France, that's long term. We're just in a 100 year long lull in-between hostilities

Not even that long. The cold war started after WW2 (when we were allies mind you) and lasted the better half of the century.
While currently we're not exactly friends we're not really enemies either and many things have changed in the last 20 years or so.
Doesn't help that our genius of a president wanted to put up missile defense batteries in the EU pointed at russia though.
In terms of the US and Russia I kinda see each other as a couple of jocks trying to outdo the other in every little aspect so they can /flex.

While I agree that the message behind is less than friendly, at least it's a missile defense system and not offensive weaponry. __________________________________________________

Edited by: TotalCareBear on 08/08/2008 16:05:36 Most ex-USSR see Russia as their main enemy. And plenty of Eastern Europe is in EU.
Georgia starts attacking separatists. Now why does Russia take their troops to a foreign country, who is dealing with their internal issues?
PS. I don't that Georgia is the somehow the innocent one, but Russian involvement = Russian trying to expand their territories.

Which is how the Russians saw it too which I have to agree with their feelings on the matter. I haven't checked on the matter in a while but I believe the program was shot down.

I never heard any country declaring themselves aggressors. Officially both Russia and Georgia are defending their own territories/interests. There's no truth ofc, only dead bodies and huge business in waging war.

Russia marched into Georgia, not the other way around.

Too bad I really like that flag, it had flair.
North Ossetia is part of the Federation, South Ossetia want independance and play the unity card. Will russian liberation solve anything, who knows?

Russia is the enemy if you do your homeworks right. And by that I mean their rulers and especially their former rulers, not the russian people. Transnistria, Abhazia, Osethia, Nagorno-Karabah etc. are all happening because at some point populations were moved and borders were changed. And trust me, those borders didn't change on their own and those populations didn't move because they wanted to. It was because a malefic mind made it so.
The same happened in the former Yugoslavia and most of the people blamed the serbs.

malfunctioning acts such as war or brutal conflicts stem from malfunctioning beliefs. or to put it more simply, the only reason you do stupid shit is cause you don't know any better...
nah ppl just gotta get out of denial and stop keeping all this incredible stuff that's been going on for ages, a secret.. expose and reconsile our ancient past, and then there'll be peace in a matter of f'ing days, no joke either..
course the case with the truth is, that it shines a razor sharp spotlight on everything, and shows what ppl have actually been doing.. and some might be less happy about that then others..
alas.. tick tock.. you can only run from yourself for so long.. catches up with you eventually.. and we're all going to have to deal with it, for our own good.
but what do i know right.. the ones that make wars are the smart ones.. and i'm just like crazy n shit..
there's some that think you deserve nothing and should be exterminated..
and then there are some that believes in you.
love you

Same old crap. USA helped train and maintain the Georgia military in return Georgia has helped with the Persian conflict and peacekeeping forces. USA always has to have a foot in Russia's door...

Originally by: Ryysa Edited by: Ryysa on 08/08/2008 14:53:24 Uhm, small history lesson.
Abhasia and South Ossetia have been pretty much sovereign states of Georgia for a long time. They want to break away from Georgia, but Georgia is not letting them.
So, Georgia starts shooting them and killing the russians, Russia responds. However, it's not that simple - It is in Russias interests that they do break away. So Russians have been supporting the seperatism.
In the end, there is no good and evil, but I personally think, that Georgia went a bit too far, imposing military force on highly sovereign state. South Ossetia is fighting for independence pretty much, and Georgia is trying to suppress it. To me, it does seem that Georgia is the greater of the two evils.
It does make me wonder about how hard some people have been brainwashed with "Russia is our enemy" in this forum and are posting bullshit, get an education =/
This tells me you didn't live during the cold war and know nothing about what you are talking about. STFU and educate yourself.

This action by Russia - is precisely the reason why any sane person would an expansive of a missile defense shield as possible. The aim of politics is to keep the populace alarmed and clamorous to be saved by menacing it with imaginary hobgoblins. The urge to save humanity is a false front for the urge to rule it. |

No I didn't. I said countries like Russia, whose diplomacy consists of indiscriminately shelling civilians, and without notice, and without any effort to mediate the matter (even through the UN) are dangerous. This is not the first time Russia has gone into Georgia to shell its cities. The aim of politics is to keep the populace alarmed and clamorous to be saved by menacing it with imaginary hobgoblins. The urge to save humanity is a false front for the urge to rule it. |
