It seems the Dev's hate mac / linux users... They have been saying for months that a new dev blog on the premium client will be available next week (see below)

A dev blog four months in the making? I can't wait to read it, I'm sure it'll need its own table of contents at this point.

It is possible to enjoy EVE on one's Windows PC while acknowledging the benefits of having EVE subscriptions from two additional platforms, you know.

As someone who owns a Windows PC that also has Linux installed, as well as a Mac, I would be glad to have the option to play Eve no matter which environment I'm currently using. //// ---------=== []= ---------=== \\\\ Rifter(RedBad)

I've always found it amusing how Windows Vs. Linux is instantly forgotten if someone mentions macs. -

Hoofs I say.
The most interesting part will be, that when the blog does come out...it's half a page of "ideas". Oh my what a sh**storm that will cause. Seems like we (mac users) and in the same boat with the pingus. The boat leaks, it has no padles and but somehow the pingus got hold of beer (wine + premium).

Although I understand it's annoying that there is no good Premium support for Mac, I don't understand why - in the meantime - you don't just install Windows on your Mac, and run Premium on that. Works like a charm.

Edited by: Case Reiderer on 08/08/2008 15:56:03 I switched to mac because my profession required it. Don't know anyone who owns a mac? freakin farmers
And unless you're someone who started playing eve on a PC the summer after it came out ('03) and only came back after being on a mac because mac "support" was announced (me! ), you you can't possibly have any idea how frustrating this is. Clearly no one at CCP is in this category.
This has been going on for almost a year.
In November, three months from now, (it's been almost two months since they said the dev blog was coming out next week!) it will have been one year.
And to think Q1 sounded like an impossibly long time last year...

yeah, if you want to partition your hard drive in half. I'd rather keep my music (and ProTools) than devote my computer to Eve, thx!

Well there's always WINE... http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9971
But I agree, CCP's official "support" for Mac and Linux is not really much to write home about - the unsupported WINE versions run the Windows premium binaries better than their officially supported Linux non-premium client. Community troubleshooting and fixes are lightyears ahead anything GM's and Customer Support can provide.
And judging by dev responses - or rather, lack of them, they just don't seem too organized, they promise info and blogs but can't be arsed to write them.. I guess their managers can't be arsed to check on what their employers are doing either - it seems somewhat... well, chaotic.
It was just a glorified CCP PR-stunt/press release - implementation is almost non-existant and very poor quality.

I heard that Carmac uses Mac as his primary development platform, ever since the NeXT days.

I run the premium client in Linux with no problems under wine 1.1.2.

…and that's what make things so puzzling.
Wine can already run premium. CrossOver can already run premium.
…so what's the hold-up for transgaming?

Your gaming machine isn't necessarily purpose built. If you game on it, it is your gaming machine. -
