Even though it has been in the game at least as long as me, it has now cost people some very expensive killmails. PL lost two super carrier killmails because of Self Destructing while being aggressed. Denying killmails is an unintended effect of using self destruct. I too lost an expensive Tengu killmail to this exploit.
Anyone doing this should be banned immediately.

Tears come in many flavors. None are bad imho. Also: Valid tactic destroys loot. It's more of a "move" than an "exploit" in my humble view.

OP is taking the mick because some people have really been crying (again) about being denied KM's due to self destruct, mostly due to their misguided view that just because they've locked something down they should be granted the spoils.
Unfortunately sarcasm doesn't always come out well in text unless you really emphasise it. |

Edit: I would consider SD'ing a valid tactic as it prevents the enemy from getting at your goodies. And no KM since you did not crack the ship to get at the gooey center. |

No I am drawing a parallel between this and the webbing JF "exploit". If webbing a JF sticking it in a warping state is an exploit then this SURELY is. Killing supcaps takes a long time. Unless you bring a blob of supers and isn't that what goons are complaining about?

Oh but if Goons were denyed the KM and the loot it matters all of a sudden? Just like losing a JF full of Zydrine and Megacyte to webbing Vindis only matter if Goons lose it? This is T20 all over again...

I don't think you understand what "cold, harsh" means. Here's a hint: if you didn't bring enough ships to do the job properly, CCP isn't going to hold your hand and make it all better. Yeah, it sucks that you didn't get the killmail, but that's EVE. If you REALLY want that kill mail, then bring enough of the right ships to do the job.

If a kill mail must be sent out send it to the pilot who Self Destructed, because of all technicallities he is the one who laid the final blow on his own ship.
