unofficial link is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7Ki91U-mBE&feature=player_detailpage#t I expect CCP will upload their own one soon.
While I would agree with a great deal of you that the presentations were less than ideal i also agree that if your taking it seriously your doing it wrong., at the end of the day its a video game, and when you add lots of alcohol in you get drunken nerds.
To all of you saying you didnt even watch it because you heard/thought/think it was stupid or disgusting I would suggest giving it a shot and at least watching the first half, some of the presentations were amusing/informative/entertaining.
@ the people saying i didn't drink enough, i didn't drink at all, so that may be why you could understand mine and it made sense :P. |

While I watched that video, my growing realization was that CCP had a lot to answer for.
It's an absolutely basic, clear-cut fact in the media industry that if you allow live feed to be combined with alcohol, there will be trouble.
Let's not forget - this was a live stream to the World Wide Web. Not just to Eve players. Any member of Joe Public who clicked the View button.
At points, the streams of invective coming from these drunken idiots were beyond the pale. Mittani's faux pas was actually a small part of PR disaster for CCP particularly in the fourth quarter, and incredibly they just let it happen.
They could have cut the life feed at any time. They could have moderated more effectively. They could have disallowed alcohol on stage. Or allowed alcohol but not filmed the session.
Consideer what will now happen with any prospective Eve subsciber.
They will hear about Eve, possibly (hopefully) good stuff. They will do a bit of research, maybe read a couple of reviews. They will inevitably be linked to several game sites and read about Mittani's cockup and CCP's response. And a lot of them will probably watch the Alliance Presentation - or as much as they can stomach.
And while it won't bother a lot of people, there will be a fair-sized proportion who will think to themselves, "what a bunch of d*cks and how did the game company let them get away with acting like that?".
It's all very well Eve players being arses in-game and passing out at the keyboard. But CCP - when you're throwing the most important event of the year to showcase your Golden Goose to the world, you'd damn well better make sure your guests are more professional when they're live on camera.
CCP is launching an "investigation". I suspect that that will be partly about Mittani, partly internal, but mostly PR damage limitation. The box said "Requires Windows-á2000 or better", so I installed Linux. |

I greatly enjoyed MBIII's presentation and feel that he accurately represented TEST and its culture as best he could without vomiting all over Mittens' super-gelled hair and falling off the stage unconscious.
I also greatly enjoyed last year's presentation and it was one of the factors that made me decide to resubscribe.
If this alliance panel discourages people like G0dfailures from joining the game, then op success. |
