Yes, it should be an option for those who want it, and also that screen shake effect does seem to have an FPS reducing affect on some lower end computers. I've had the opportunity to use eve classic on two completely different computers, and can notice a difference in FPS when the screen starts shaking on the older slower comp.

Zooming out on warp doesn't help and even in combat you have to zoom out completely to see any change and by then you can't target/see anything anyways so might as well turn your monitor off :) Working for you the players, development threads:

everyone in a large fleet fight fights completely zoomed out to reduce FPS lag, and htey use the overview to select targets, so thats not really valid.

Talking about mission BTW and hey were on the same side jeez! now if they would give us control of this feature maybe they would sneak in text sizes larger that 12pt this game really hurts my eyes after a long time

Screen shake is kinda annoying and unnecessary from a 3rd person point-of-view. A subtle shimmy of just the ship would suffice. If there were a ****pit view, then...yeah, for realism, enable screen shake.

Signed for the dozenth time over the last few years...
Better would be to make your shield flicker or similar - maybe have the shield wobble instead. If you're taking armor damage, then the ship itself starts getting bounced around. But the star-field is rock solid in the distance.

Backdrops: I totally agree with you. Backdrops should be more subtle and dark (black) in my opinion, which I think would go so much better with EVE's ship and station models. Can you even see such nebulaes from anywhere in space? Are we wearing Hubble Goggles?...
Screen shaking: This is really giving me a headache and I would like to see it changed or at least be able to turn it off.
Light: In addition I think light and shadow should play a greater role. Near the sun you should be bathed in light and the far end of a solar system should be a really dark place.

Signed. I happen also to wish the brightness of stars could be modified. Talk about a headache! The first thing I do in any engagement or mission is point the camera toward the darkest area of space so that I don't get a headache from the brightness of the stars/nebulae contrasted with the general darkness of EVE. More control to allow for subtlety in brightness please. And the screen shaking... just get rid of that one :) |

I would love to be able to turn off many of the graphical effects. However, the warp shake is not actually one of them. I quite like it, and it gives an impression of something powerful happening. Coupled with the sound effect and red-/blue-shift colouring, I find warping quite impressive to behold.
The effect that I find most annoying is the slow sway that ships have when they are 'stationary'. If EVE were a sea-sim rather than a space-sim, I could understand this, but I see no reason for it (it can't be there to prevent LCD burn-in as there are many static parts of the UI).

A company I worked for 20 years ago had workstations which, if you left the monitors on, would accumulate huge static charges. If you were unlucky enough to be the first person to touch one of the keyboards after a weekend, a visible spark would fly from the monitor and strike you in the middle of the forehead.
That kind of thing? ;-)

The ability to disable or control the intensity of missile explosion/warp shake effects
The ability to control the intensity of lighting effects in the game
More control over the size and style of fonts in the UI discuss

bumpity.
Lots of really great ideas in here.
An option to disable/scale camera shake is really, I mean REALLY, needed. (who wants to walk away from the pc nauseated?)
Also, I particularly like the idea someone mentioned about locking the camera. Like toggling either to have the camera in relation to the X/Y grid of the map, like it is now, OR to lock its possition relative to your ship (e.g. if you set your camera to hover over the left end of your ship it will stay in that position relative to your ship as it turns.) ((this can cause severe dizziness, however; but I think it would add a nice variety:))
How can I know what I think. Before I see what I say. |

I thought when they removed it, it would be on the front page and users would rejoice my bad for missing the patch note on it, not complaining though, but a simple disable/enable wasn't all I was after I was also looking for controlling the intensity if you choice to keep it enabled but w/e good enough, and yes I am partially blind in one eye but thanks for asking!
