Originally by: Winterblink I'm not an ******* ingame or in real life either. Though I do tend to save it up for when someone slights me for no damn reason.
Take for instance this total ***** who cut in line in front of me at a Walmart. Here's this checkout, the girl at the till is waiting patiently, and there I am walking towards her with a smile and one item in my hand. This lady next to me with a cart full of whatevers suddenly speeds up, cuts me off, and starts to unload her groceries.
I stared at her for a minute solid while she went about her unloading. With a smile, I asked "I bet that made you feel good, didn't it?"
She kinda did a sideways glance, muttered "excuse me?", and tried to ignore.
Paraphrasing, I let loose with all 8 neutron blasters, with "Well I can only assume your home life is shit, that your husband beats you at least once a day for petty things, and your children are such s**trats you've considered suicide at least once or twice in the last twelve months alone. The only comfort you get is by treating strangers like crap, such as me with a single item in hand who would have taken maybe 10 seconds of this girl's time to ring in and pay for. But that's ok, I don't mind, I know what kind of home life you're going back to."
In a huff she took her stuff and hurried off after paying, I smiled and tossed a cheery "Have a great day!" at her back.
You should have seen the look on the cashier's face. :D
And here I thought I was the only one to use a mirror for them to see themselves. If you come to the southern USA, please bring your manners as we all say hello and thank you and good bye |

Edited by: Beletar on 19/08/2008 17:22:06 I am Middle class w/ 2 kids and a wife that has deep Christian Conservative values. I work 7am-4pm everyday then turn into Mr Hyde around 10pm after the kids are in bed.
Ingame I am a real jerk that lives for the gank and runs with a crew that has entirely to much fun at the expense of others that include targets and each other. Nothing like hearing a 2004 pilot make a mistake and the shouts of "Epic Fail!" on coms. I have been a real jerk online for ages because mainly its a release of stress and others are going to suffer by going kablooie! |

I think there's a difference between your in-game playstyle and your personality.
The problem isn't with nice people doing mean things, it's when normally rational people go completely apecrap in local or on voice comms. You can be an ebil pirate and still come across as something more than an an antisocial jerk.
The worst players aren't the ones who kill the most or do the most damage, they're the ones who ruin everyone else's fun by being x-phobic x-ist fountains of profanity. |

I'm pretty much respectful and treat people OK in game.
I can be a right c*$t out of game if crossed. I have stopped eight lanes of traffic after a road accident losing my nut. |

I try to be courteous and helpful in-game.
If someone kills my ship, or gangs up on me, or traps me or something then it doesn't bother me at all.
In real-life (and on the forums), I am fine unless I come across a complete bullshitter, then I rage.
I've had warnings for this in RL and on various forums (got my first one on here yesterday), but I can't help it
I also find myself yelling at the TV whenever a politician is being interviewed...
Can't stand people distorting the truth - especially when they know they're doing it.

I try to treat people how I would expect to be treated, both in real life and in-game. I'm not always an angel, but I expect that not everyone will always be an angel to me either so it balances out.
The only difference is that I don't expect to be shot, mugged, scammed, harassed, or generally taken advantage of in real life. |

I have the good cop/bad cop thing going on. I have a high sec only char that makes money in various ways (market, trade, standings, etc.) and he is a very nice person. However, when I log on this char (which is most of the time) I am a complete jerk and will kill anything that shows up in my overview (alliance, corp, gang don't show up in my overview). I guess in real life I am more like my high sec char, but at times I want to be like my low sec char but know that I can't or I won't be playing Eve (unless it is in a cell with a guy named Bubba). |

and honestly, what would you expect from a thread like this? Of course everyone is going to claim to be generally nice.

I'm meaner than when I started though, perhaps in a couple years I'll be a real troublemaker. |

I'm a lazy ass IRL, complete with "f-u" mentality to anyone who crosses me.
I'm not as lazy ingame, however, still, "f-u" remains, though I'm far more forgiving ingame. |

Out of game... Well... I love shining flashlights at people for fun ^^ (different colored lenses for added lol... "why are you shining red light at me?" "uhh..." *turns it off and walks away slowly*)

For me, my playstyle is almost the same as my RL personality. Saying that, my RL personality has changed over the years as has my playstyle. I used to be helpfull and nice in RL and as such, I became an anti-pie in game and blew up people that preyed on the weak.
Now, I have become more cynical and less caring in RL due to R-tards ( idiot neighbors, coworkers, bosses, politicians ) and my gameplay has adjusted accordingly. I dont defend those that are weak in game because they wont even try to defend themselves. Its wasted effort. I've pirated a few times in game, but that didn't agree with me. Kinda like standing outside grocery stores waiting on old ladies to come out, beating them up and stealing their groceries, wouldn't agree with me in RL.
So all in all, my playstyle is close to my RL personality and has changed with it. |

Now I take pleasure in peoples anguish and pain when I destroy thier property although IRL I am still the same as I used to be.
Now to you guys, how does your playstyle differ from your RL personality and has eve also turned you into being of pure malice?

Honestly, I was all goody-goody when I started. Now, I'm as likely as not to shoot a noob at a gate just because he appeared on my overview and I was bored. As you age in-game, you get more desensitized.
In RL, I don't randomly hit people over the head, though. (yet) |

its pretty similar,
both IG and IRL I'll do what is needed to win and get what I want, including being not nice to others; ppl tend to take it personaly but they shouldnt, I'm quite friendly and helpful when there is no reason to not be, though I mostly do things that are in my own interest; personal gain > rest
IG I blow up random ppl but can have a friendly convo with them anytime; and IRL I'm pretty friendly with random ppl, but mostly I wont bother with them, call back, etc, if I gets me nothing
it might seems cold, but its working well |

In game you are not limited by certain rules, you show your true nature. In RL your true nature is limited by law and law enforcement. I think that if there were no legal or social limitations in RL (lawless state/anarchy), you'd behave similar like in game, according to your true nature, you'd take pleasure in peoples anguish and pain when you destroy their property.
I'd not want to meet you IRL in a state of lawlessness, at least not if you had a bigger gun than me.

I suppose I am a bit of a jerk in real life since I like to crack a lot of jokes, and jokes are usually at someones expense. Although those kind I tend to aim at myself since my friends know I am just kidding. I also have a bad habit of picking fights with people that look bigger or stronger than me. In game I am like that except I also try to kill anyone I think is trying to send me subliminal messages. |

Hah! You have no idea how easy it is to troll in real life because you do not get silly bans and stuff like that - and noone can mute you (Well, I'm a big dude, try it!). But I always go to opposite against person who says something. As a atheist, it's always fun to troll another atheist by being "religious" person. |

I think you are overusing the term "troll"/"untrolled". Not every reply that does not please you has to be a troll-post.
