Murphy Dropkick Caldari Subliminal Engineering	Posted - 2008.08.20 02:47:00 - [1] I logged in today to find my CEO and a few others in corp chat having a very vulgar and racist conversation. I didn't say anything and tried to leave, but the system said I had to wait 24 hours. I then asked my CEO if he could boot me. He asked why, and I told him that I was black and I wasn't to big on the black jokes he had been making. I proceed to move my items to another station and he blows my ship up and pods me. My clone was 8 jumps away so I thought I was safe. I've been playing for about 5 weeks and I didn't know there was an option to locate a player. So I leave the station and he pods me again. I'm not complaining about the racist jokes, I can deal with that, I just don't want to hear it, my problem is getting out of the corp. I made a petition and the GM said it was game mechanics and it is legit. That's fine, there's nothing he can do. So my only choice is to come here and ask you guys if there is anything I can do to leave the corp? I really appreciate all of your input. Thanks a bunch guys and gals!

Mal Lokrano Gallente	Posted - 2008.08.20 02:54:00 - [3] first off revoke all roles assigned to you, after the 24 hour waiting period you can leave the corp and this will make you not as easy to pod as it will get concord interfereance. But understand if you join another player corp the ceo could war dec that corp and come after you. Your only other choice is to create anopther character, and start over. However it amazes me thayt a ceo who seems vert racist and is taking his racist ideologies into the game isn't being punished for things you should just keep to yourself.

I don't know if you'll get your stuff back, but it might prevent this from happening again. This is a form of griefing we as a comunity could well do without.

No need for a crusade, but there is no need to tolerate racism. You will need to use your own judgment on what the situation was: 1) Corp members chatting it up with tasteless and tactless jokes, and a CEO who was being a jerk because you decided that you didn't like being in the corp any more. 2) Corp members were deliberately promoting racism and decided to hunt you down when you found out that you where in a corp that was racist against you. I am guessing that it was more likely the first, and therefore the advice: just wait the 24 hours then move on, such is life. If you seriously believe that the corp is promoting racism, then open up a petition about it: they don't belong in Eve.

CEO and directors (and probably other roles too, not 100% sure) have acces to your exact location (system/station) and ship type flown with a maximum 5 minute delay, at no cost whatsoever. They don't need to use a locator agent, they see that in the corp member listing. If they were openly racist jokes, and the CEO is podding you because of your skin colour, that's the most pure and unadulterated form of racist hate, and people like him have nothing to offer to EVE, in which case, you SHOULD report him so he gets banned. But if he wasn't making excessively racist jokes, and you were just being a bit too sensitive about it, and the only reason he's podding you is because he feels offended by the fact you could/would consider those jokes racist, then there's nothing you can do. There's a very fine line between those, indeed, but a very important one.

I didn't make him say this stuff, I didn't even complain. I just wanted to leave. I tend to give humanity the benefit of the doubt for the most part, but he really wigged out when he found out I was black. So I'm gonna have to guess he blew me up cause I was black. He's dragging my name through the mud for no reason. I just don't understand it. I don't know why people can just hate you when they have never met you before. Depressing.

I would say even a non-racist-sensitive person would have grounds to scowl at it when seen. If by some odd twist of fate I would have had the misfortune of typing those jokes, my reaction to your reaction would have been something akin to "sorry it offended you man, I was only trying to be funny, but I can see why you'd be miffed". So, his reaction to your reaction does speak volumes... would I be in your place, I WOULD probably petition him (although I wouldn't expect much of a punishment to be dispensed, probably some temp-gagging or a temp-banning)... not for the podding, but for the jokes and the reaction to your reaction to the jokes, which almost completely prove he's a bit too racist for his own good. Of course, other explanations might exist, and I'm not discounting completely different scenarios altogether, I'm just saying what's the most likely state of affairs.

The problem is that we are getting 2 different stories here. Him saying you stole stuff and thats why he podded you (this is basicly what his bio said) and you saying he podded you because you told him you were black after he made racial jokes. It would be a lot easier if he came here to defend himself.

Items that typically are used till blown up and the corp does not typically care about you using. This CEO sounds like the type that would list this as corp stealing when in all reality, Murphy probably did not even think about removing modules before the corp boot. Plus he was still in the corp while he got podded, so how could the reason have been corp stealing considering Murphy could not put the stuff back in the hanger? Otherwise, Murohy if you have anything that did belong to the corp and were not ment to be taken on purpose, just contract them back and your hands will be clean. Either way, from the way that Murphy has presented himself, I would not really take the CEO's word if he did come in here blasting accusations. He has pretty much lost credability in my mind. But I am open for persuasion. Tasteless joke for the loss. Slade
