UK players have been an important part of the EVE community from the very beginning, organizing some of the very first player meets, being at the forefront of EVEGÇÖs PvP alliances and expanding the EVE experience with such creations as the Clear Skies movie trilogy. The enthusiasm and creativity of these players has only underlined the importance of the UK market as we enter a very exciting time for the EVE Universe. The new price for UK players will be -ú9.99. $15 USD = Gé¼11.30 = -ú9.45
Previously (or now, in fact) Eve costs $26.46 a month, converted, from PLEX. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. What people also don't understand is that the purchasing power of $1 US does not equal the purchasing power of -ú1 UK:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purchasing_power_parity#OECD_comparative_price_levels
In that article, specifically the link I have here, it discusses how you can have a denomination of currency that is worth more than another based on purchasing power. For example, the OECD comparative price levels for the UK is 124. This means that an American living in the UK would have to pay $124 US for the same things that they would pay $100 US in the United States for.
Once you understand how this works, you can compare the new prices of EVE monthly:
-ú9.99 British pounds sterling = $15.8551 US (as of today)
$15.8551 / 1.24 = $12.74
So basically, as of today's data, the people in the UK are paying $12.74 US per month for EVE.
I think that is fair, personally, since for the past 9 years they have been paying near -ú20 per month, however in the future I think that game companies need to consider the impact of actual economics on their prices. |

Well, actually...not quite.
For the longest time there was a 1.7 or better exchange rate for -ú -> $, and lots of people, including myself, used to buy Timecodes from places like Shattered Crystal at USD prices ($15 for 30 days iirc) via paypal.
So, with factoring in exchange fees + paypal fees, most of us who did it that way were paying the equivilant ~$16-17 USD or about -ú9-10 at the time.
Of course, that's with the old exhange rates before the recession hit in 2009/2010 and rates plummeted.
Interestingly enough, as it currently stands for us in the UK, CCP charges us in Euros.
In my case, I just bought 3 months for 38.85 EURO via CCP and Paypal, which equates to about -ú32.50, or -ú10.80 per month at current exchange rates. I could probably get it cheaper if I went back to buying timecards again, but I'm lazy and it's not really worth the hassle now I'm working properly.
In short, a new -ú9.99 sub fee per month is a fair bit cheaper for us and puts us properly on par with the US, which'll be even better when buying in blocks |

At FF they mentioned that a location hasn't been decided yet, so without that they'll struggle to set a date, but if they want a mass of EVE players from across the country the earlier the announcement the better. |

CCP hypothetic subscription by currency according stats since 2008
1st - 40% $$$ 2 nd - 20% Gé¼Gé¼Gé¼ 3 rd (new) : 13% -ú-ú-ú
what's left : $$$ cuz ISK (official) would be for exchange taxes.
Now you pay plexes in $$$, ETC in $$$ (would be screwed in any other currency atm) because Paypal exchange taxes stills better than paying in Euro directly. so $$$ should be close to 80%.
and YES, WE have TAXES in Europe, or e-VAT if you want, but charging 40% more for single month of EVE in $$$ to EuroZone is just outrageous. At this rate it's not any kind of real taxe, is just the Mighty APPLE's TAXE.
US guy : You want a computer ? Here it is. 1000$ + 500$ apple taxe. Greek Guy : You want a computer ? oooh you live in Europe, goooooood cow, shiny cow. Here it is ! : 1000Gé¼ + 500Gé¼. yes of course, VAT applies on our own taxe ;) you must reimburse some chineses you know :-D
Anyway, it's a lost fight in advance.
Also i laughed at the player nationality. 1st : US with ENG client 2nd : UK with ENG client 3rd : RUS with RUS client 4th : GER with GER client 5-99th : who cares, Learn ENG and pay in $$$ pwease !
Next translation : Japan, because it's a challenge to us !
Come on, be realistic, just a little at least?
and make us pay 15% taxes, not 50%. Cheers, and congrats for the (future-ex ?) Euro-island. God save the queen.
