In conjunction with that I'd like to see all gankers perma-banned based on IP subnet and credit device used to pay, and anyone with -10 security status CONCORD'd upon entry into high sec. CCP won't take this serious so it's forum fluff.
Adding to the fluff, all the things that made mining an effort got nuked out of the game because they were too profitable and the null bears wanted all the cookies. Mining isn't an issue. Bots are. They were ignored at first because when EVE had 10K login in it was in issue to expect half of those people to be bong shotting rocks. For any number of reasons people in numbers will mine ATK now.
I'd be quite content to go to a secluded .5 sec with no outpost, set up a POS and mine my ores, move them to my POS, ship them out to be refined and.. well, play EVE. I can't make it profit though and between griefers pretending they hate botting, targeting anything in a belt and bots, I can't be bothered.
Maybe some day you will find my POS in that secluded .5 and me in a Hulk and a Bestower mining away. Say something in local, I will reply. We can have a little chat and then you can go find a bot to kill. |

Mining is working as intended.
Aside from the fact that I am a pro-miner, enjoy it and yes that comes from a Goon....
...it's an entry level way to make ISK in the game
...it's fun to do in groups for corporate ISK making
...it has a risk / reward incentive that will be balanced when the drone poo nerf comes in
...mining creates PVP opportunities in both null sec and empire

I like many other things about EvE too, though.
I wish mining was more exciting, sometimes, but other times there is serene relaxation to be had just kicking back and letting the lasers hum, kicking out the minng drones, and just soaking up rocks (and beer).
Don't you guys have crazy stressful jobs you need to relax to recover from too? EvE is ust about perfect for that very thing. |

Missions provide variable minerals in variable quantities resulting in highly inefficient resource gathering. Further, the increase in the market activity to source large volumes of minerals (if mining didn't exist) would spike the velocity of money and send inflation to rates that are unsustainable.
You're proposing to destabilize one of the most distinguishing things about EVE; it's economy.  |
