Welcome to the MEGA Ball Draw #1.
We are an experienced 'organisation' that has carried out previous lottos for other mmo's and online games such as WoW, Runescape, Everquest, AoC and others.
We have now taken EVE under our wings and aim to be as successful here as we are on our other platforms.
To start us off we will be hosting a MEGA lotto with a protential grand price of... wait for it:
1st Prize: 5 Billion isk!
2nd Prize: 3 Billion isk!
3rd prize: 1.5 Billion isk!
------------------------------------------------------- Rules:
- There is a set of numbers 0000-9999
Each number costs 1 Mil isk... which for most of the EVE comunity is not alot, and the protential you can get in return is huge!
Each character can purchase up to 500 tickets.
The draw will be done each wednesday of each week. We would like aim to atleast half of the tickets to be sold before the draw is done, but the draw will take place anyhow. If no one wins then all the tickets will be 'rolled' over to the next draw day.
The winning number is determined by the closing value of the Dow Jones US Stock Exchange, on that draw day.
This can be found by looking here
If you would like to enter the draw or ask question please contact Silfe ingame.
If purchasing a large amout of tickets we would be graitful when contacting us if they where close together or with a range (E.g 100-300) for quick and easy submission.
However, this is not a rule or restriction and any numbers can be bought, no mater how scattered.
------------------------------------------------------ Next Draw: Wednesday 27th August ------------------------------------------------------ If you would like a copy of the database we use to record the characters and draw numbers please again contact Silfe.
Good Luck!

9999 tickets... best of luck with that. Many paid lotteries around here with 49 tickets don't attract enough attention. You have 9999. I know that people can buy multiple tickets, but to be honest I don't think you will find enough people who are willing to buy enough of them to fill all 9999 slots.
And then there is the fact that you are making 500 million. That's quite a bit of money for something that only requires you to keep track of numbers. --------------------------------- From #eve-chaos [11:47am] Ulviirala: my damn balls are bigger than these veldspar roids |

A lot of the current 49 number lotteries need to bump up there ticket price to be able to be able to give a meaningful prize (like 5-30m a ticket) Having alarge amount of numbers allows people to buy more tickets(as they are a lower prize each) and also allow new players or ones with low funds to still have a chance.
We have been running similar lottos on other mmo's as stated above for just under a year now, and we have had great sucess them them.
Although 500m profit can be achieved if ALL the tickets are bought, we will be adding other rewards to the equation with winners getting free vent/ts hosting 100-1000 slots, free website hosting and killboard hosting aswell as a number of others ---------------------------------- The MEGA Ball

Alright, I guess it seems reasonable enough. All you need now is enough interest. I'd enter, but at the moment I only have enough money to buy 7 tickets :P --------------------------------- From #eve-chaos [11:47am] Ulviirala: my damn balls are bigger than these veldspar roids |

Never buy tickets from a lottery whose promoter doesn't know how to spell, and uses words that aren't english.
Add to that the BS about being "experienced" and then not providing any proof.....I feel very very sorry for the people who already paid this scammer.
Oh, and what about these mystical "extra prizes" that he refers to, in order to deflect the criticism of his ridiculous take??
I know what it smells and looks like, question is: Is it?

"Words that arn't English" such as?
"not providing any proof" Most of the other lottos we did wern't hosted on websites due to the fact that most mmo's, such as wow do not allow you to 1. post websites in chat or post link either on the forum or ingame that offer gold or game currency as its against the EULA.
"this scammer" .. have u any proof that I/we are scamming? ....I thought not, if the people want their money back, just evemail me.
And these "mystical" extra prizes will come in due time if this gets popular.

I played wow for 2 years, this is not the case. What server did you run your lottery on? what was the payout? What was the method of advertising/collecting payment, how many tickets did you sell? I understand that you may be a perfectly honourable player, but this is eve. We don't trust anyone (except chribba and a number of players you can count on one hand). There are two ways a new player can run a lottery: Provide answers to every single question asked, provide proof of claims and slowly build trust in the community, or use a third party as mentioned above.

Nice idea Silfe, but you might want to examine the existing lotteries and their ways of doing things. I could see this working on WoW due to the huge number of players, but as described it sounds unsuitable for Eve.

I have played WoW for almost 3 years strting of on the Burning Blade (BB) server, at this time it was a very high populated server but in time it became known as "Broken Blade" due to its constand disconnects / bugs / downtime / etc. I/ we (with a few friends) first started the lotto there @ christmas of 2005 (it may have been 06) we starting off with the good old english lottery bonus ball style with a price of 1g with the winner taking 100% of the winnings to begin with. As this was pre TBC 49g was quiet an amount, so after about 2 weeks of doing this way we introduced other lottos in conjunction (same method just different ticket price) after getting fed up with BB I migrated to Kazzak and my other friends migrated to Ghostlands and a few other realms. So i set up shop on those realms holding weekly lottos for 2-3 months, they wernt popular and the serer was very low in population, with the combination of me having to raid on my mage(on kazzak) i didnt have much time to keep switching servers. So i tried it out on kazzak around christmas time of 07 which went OK for a month or 2 but due to RL i didnt have much time on wow so in the end i stopped it.
"What was the method of advertising/collecting payment" Typeing in /say /trade word of mouth, payment was either via a gam mail with the numbers/gold attached or just by trade ( mainly at ironforge bridge)
And btw this is the case, go onto wow and start posting a website in to chat offering gold and you'll prob get banned within a day (if the GM's arnt lazy)
I have looked around the forum and saw EVEBank, would you count this a trusted 3rd party? If i send the ticket money to thier bankers / deposited it in my account with them. ---------------------------------- The MEGA Ball

how did you run lottery on runescape? there's a limit on how much money can be transferred from 1 char to another. there are ways around it but it becomes extremely dangerous as well as tedious when u do it multiple times. I've been a big player on rs for more than 4 years and has never heard of you

Simple question, and if you answer it right you may even find that people will start buying your tickets.

With these parameters it is indeed lucrative lottery sure to grab my recommendation, if you manage to handle the security issue. Perhaps could start with note of 'do not send ISK untill we've arranged for a trusted third party to hold it'?
For some maths, the initial offer gives 9.7B prizes for 10B tickets, or 0.97 payback ratio. Taking optimal use of the ad program, as I would suggest to my pals (buying 5+5 tickets with 2 chars, receiving 5 extra), increases the ratio to 1.49.
This ratio could even further double if, as I understood, upon selling 50% of tickets, you would still grant all prizes even though it make take few more days to find them.
So please please, make it secure and I'll get many pals to participate in it.
Then again, can't really understand why experienced and honest fellow would organize such lottery; damn expensive for a PR stunt.
