I know that when the graphics upgrade was done, the Navy Raven's coloring was changed from a nice black to a camo green. Please consider changing this back. You can keep the detail, but change the coloring back. The new color is horrid.
I know many other people were/continue to be disappointed in this as well.
It was unique before, and now it looks like another ship.
Please show your support guys.

I always thought the raven looked like crap too, but then premium came out, then I saw the models sold in China (damn you ccp), then I fell in love again.
But still Mega > Raven.
Anyways, it's a Navy Raven, so the camo makes it look more... you know... militaristic.

I submit to you that in space, there are no trees, and that on Earth, the navy doesn't use that camo.

Premium models are not that bad. That CNR 'greenish' paintjob looks better than Golems golden. Still a raven, but not so horrific anymore so you would always zoom out to not see your ship. |

the model would still be the same ugly crap, but at least it would be a nicer colour.
Also do this with the kronos (disregarding the ugly part there  ).

They changed the color of the navy raven? Maybe I'm the only one that still likes the classic client over the lag infested "premium" client. really though it's all the same to me. as long as my screen isn't black and those red flashies appear in my OV I got something to shoot at.

Well I'm for it. I also feel you should be able to play with your toon a bit, even if certain settings are set permanently when its created. I'm just a bit bored with the way mine looks.
And yes, the Raven is an ugly ship. If it wasn't so well specified I'd get a Rokh instead, which looks a lot more money. But I am the suck at hybrid turrets.

You think the Raven is ugly? I personally don't mind it (not the best looking boat, but far from the worst).
The Typhoon is one Fugly (and skill heavy) ship... though most Minmatar ships are Fugly.
Iirc, the reason there isn't customization for ship skins is due to lag. Rendering that many different skins in big fleets lagged out a node when tested on sisi when they tried it, I'm pretty sure.

Being black before, you never noticed how ugly the raven really is. Now that it is green, it's a bit too much in your face. ^_^

Custom colored ships would mean that for each ship the server would have to check the database for the correct skin that goes with each individual ship (rather than just load the model & skin as it is now), thus adding monstrous lag if you want others to see it.
Individual ship additions visible to others is basicly undoable without adding significant lag to...everything |

Actually it can be as simple as loading background color for the Mesh and loading alpha blended texture on top of that. But yeah, few bits more to fetch from DB. Wouldnt call it monstrous though.

As the OP sais - lag would be awfull. But a Client side addition would be OK, just not visible to other players. Probably not much point really.

I have to agree with this - the female of the species greatly enjoys being able to personalise their presence in the game. If you look at the other MMOs with armour customisation, colouring, houses, all that sort of stuff, it doesn't take a genius to spot who focuses heavily on those aspects of the game.
Custom colouring of your ships would be a good move for the game. I leave it up to the devs to decide the technical ramifications of doing so (all of us arguing it'll give more lag might be talking rubbish, we don't know the code).

Not just chicks. I mean, getting to customize the look of your ship should be pretty basic - it's like dyeing your armor in Guild Wars. It gives the player the ability to tailor-fit his/her look a little. Makes him/her a little happier overall, which is a great thing. I know I love dyeing my armors in GW. Pink & black are my favorite colors <3
Really, I think this won't happen as the whole client & system just sucks. CCCP needs to make Eve 2, with a totally rebuilt engine & everything so that players can do all these things that just aren't possible in Eve (cuz it sucks). Don't get me wrong, Eve is amazing, but not being able to customize your ship's look AT ALL is a huuuuuge downfall.  Just like many other annoying little drawbacks of Eve that we've all learned to live with, and will have to live with until TQ closes down for good.

yes making ships diferent and unique is a major problem... heck i use the most uncomon ship of each class just to get some uniqueness even if it means i'm not as strong... but hey its a sacrifice i am willing to take....
i've suggested myself on giving us an option to choose between 10-20 colors to dye the three parts of our ship with (trim, windows, and hull) or allow us to have our ships name on the side or our corp logo on the side... it would certainly add to the uniqueness of the game and i'm sure brin gmore people to.
