Edited by: Taurar on 08/06/2004 17:24:08 Some questions listed in this thread will be dropped since they are more suitable for the patch review, and ships & modules sections on these forums.
More specifically the threads related to balancing since the developers (TomB, lickspittle) have already started threads asking for suggestions on these.
Also some specific ETA questions were dropped since experience has shown us that the only answers to these will be either soon(tm) or Shiva (or if after shiva release the name of the next build).

How will missiles work in the end? So far, as I have tested on Chaos, you are able to "dodge" large weapons like 425mm rails or mega beam lasers even in a cruiser orbiting the Battleship at 15km and with a transversal velocity of about 250m/s. Considering this fact Frigates and Cruiser can "dodge" this weapons without using any module but this doesnt apply to "large missiles" like the torpedo or cruise missiles since they always hit their target. I know you guyes are working on a missile physic change on a secret server but would you plz be so kind and give us a scoop how missiles will work in the end?
PS: Damn it, it seems like this quesion is too long, isnt it?

Drones Questions:
1) Where are the other mining drones that used to be listed on market? Is it possible to bring them back on next update along with having certain agents (Creodron Corp for one) drop Harvestor Drones or Harvestor BP's for doing important missions??????
2) What ever happened to repair and salvage drones????? I have yet to see any DEV's talk about them when they mention Drones.
3) Will Drones be updated before or at Shiva update (speed, tracking, damage output)???
4) Will the ability to control more than 10 Drones ever be put in game, or will there be a super heavy class of drones, that are basically remote controlled frigates.
Thanks for your response in advance

It has been about 6 months since it was "supposed to beÖ" out in Castor... still haven't seen it, and just wondering if its gonna make it in game soon? (as I have a TON of junk loot to reprocess)
Oh yeah... those Drone questions, could we please get some more info regarding them as well??

Ship sprayshop? Whatever happened to it?
It was promised to come shortly after the "look at" feature and high res mega/thorax skins were added. Currently there is no way to customize your ship's appearance, only options you have is loadout and name.

Are there plans to make escrow function better?
Aside from sorting the current problems with being able to view/enter escrow items, there are several additions that would be welcome. For example, a search function for escrow content and the ability to block the escrows of certain scammers.
It would also be nice if there was a "Show only escrow reserved for me/my corp" button.

Edited by: The1 on 09/06/2004 22:10:44 This statement was made by Chandra in the last CSM "Chandra > we do acknowledge that skill progression will increase the gap between veteran players and newbies Chandra > and this is something we would like to take a look at"... This is one of the most troubling statements I have seen in a CSM yet. My question is: Are you suggesting that at some future date older players skills will be brought back to the group or maybe that newer players will be given some way to advance more quickly through the game in an effort to "catch up to older players and make things more fair"? In my opinion either of these solutions would be a travisty. People who made the effort to get involved in the game first should be rewarded for doing so. What do you say to this issue?

works both ways, when I hunt pirates, they run to spot and logoff themselves. Not much CCP can do about it though.

Of course they can do something about it, e.g.:
- introduce log off timers when hostiles are in the same solar system, - introduce fog of war for the map, - remove local chat radar, - remove safe spots.
Works in trillions other MMORPGs well.

Personaly I think safe spots should be expanded one. I would like to see corps having hidden POS and stuff. The whole idea of hidden bases and having people have to scout for them is great. One question I would have, is has the possibility of POS away from moons been discussed and why was it discarded as an option?

Edited by: Elad Baan on 19/06/2004 08:06:16 Q: I'd like to know why Interbus is so low on the "to do" list of features, knowing that it was supposed to be implemented almost a year ago ? Most the of the friends I used to play with left the game because they were tired of travelling here and there all the time for such little things as getting an item, changing ships, and so on. I don't believe courrier missions adress the issue of moving objects around very well because you don't know when and if a player will complete your request. When you have to change ships, you have to waste time reaching the system your ship is in, and then go all the way back with it. You can use a shuttle to go faster but you'd quickly get an insane bunch of shuttles all around the universe. A temp way of adressing this would be to have shuttles for rent, but Interbus has been added to the background, and it should be used (maybe courrier missions could, in fact, be implemented as mission for Interbus agents!). Anyway, with the upcoming regulation, or even ban, of battleships in empire space, the problem of moving around ships and players to swap ships will become critical. I'd like to know CCP's views on this, and their reasons for not moving Interbus up in terms of priorities if they decide to keep it low on their list.
Q: Are there any plans to make the newbies get together ? Right now, newbies can either join an already established corporation, or play solo (mostly through missions). There is not much for those newbies that want to start in the game by playing together. Agents missions are all for just one player, and, from what I've read about the upcoming changes in missions, only level 4 agents will give out "group" missions... and it sounds like it's just because the NPCs are so powerful that you can't take them out by yourself. Instead of that "let's group when the foes are too powerful"-attitude, we could have some stuff that was genuinely designed, from the start, for groups of players. Complexes will address some of this problem but the best situation would be a group storyline mission - hence the necessity to have agents capable of handling groups of players that come to them. The most basic feature would be adjusting NPC spawns according to the gang size at the time the mission was accepted (something like the agent saying "oh, I see there's 4 of you, I've got just the mission for you - but you'll have to split the reward").
Q: There have been hints about what will be done to improve the communication between the events teams (prime & aurora) and the players (for example, changing "The Scope" forum into a regular Eve Insider page, etc.). What's the status on this ?

Content or bug fixes?? Some say "I just want this #@$% fixed", Others say "I want something to do other then sitting on my A@# all day." All of which are fine but try to understand its hard to satisfy both with the time we are alloted.
I for one am not asking any questions about Shiva, Until it gets closer to launch and becomes more relevant you can go to the features section and read all about it. Until then i'm asking questions based on what the community seems to want fixed, and what the community wants asked. Keep in mind this thread is pretty light on what to ask as far as content is concerned.
For fixes so far I have narrowed down the most important issues to..
Graphics:
- Glitch that merges others ship models onto yours. Sometimes this bug will also take on the role of stations/astroids/and other object models merging onto whatever it is the player is flying. Extremely annoying and difficult when in a system where you don't want to leave or dock.
- Engine trails misaligned for ships. IE Raven
- Different color trails on the same ship. Thorax A (you) has blue trails while Thorax B has orange. This bug goes back to when the UI got a slight update back in August/September (if i recall)
- No icons for certain elements of the game IE mobile warp disruptors
- Large ships flying out of the sides of station walls when undocking. Usually occurs when one or more ships undock at the same time resulting in everyone but the first to undock being launched out. Occurs mostly in stations where you NEVER undock from the correct location. Always from a wall. Usually occurs in Caldari deep space stations like those in Venal (6NJ8-V - Gurista Productions Shipyard) for example.
Conqerable Stations:
- Station Management in conqerable stations has problems applying the changed updates when conquered. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
- conquered station names in the "List Items in Solar System" (squared lined icon) have not updated in months.
- Issues with certain tabbed sections in station management loading with no ability to update/change the info.
- Tabs not displaying all the modifiable data in station management. Usualy results in the continuous loading of the selected tab.
Gangs
- Warp to for gangs is still bugged and does not allow the warping of the gang to bookmarks for example
- The graphical idicator on the health of players in the gang sometimes displays little or bugged data on some of the gang members. Usually results in a member have 100% health displayi ng 3 bars about 3 cm think
- docking/undocking/jumping (i.e. session change) when you are sent a gang invite you are unable to be sent a new invitation, something like "Character already has an invitation to your gang". You are what is known as "bugged for the gang". Even re-logging doesn't help. You have only one of 2 options, fly without being in the gang or reform the gang, which with 40+ member gangs isn't really an option. (MOST ANNOYING BUG IN EXISTANCE)
MAP
- Jumps in the last hour still does not work correctly
- "Number of Pilots in Space" Still way off on numbers, sometimes by over 100
- color stars by "My Bookmarks" only displays 1 bookmark for a highlighted systems. Systems with multiple bookmarks will only be displayed with 1
Chat/Channels
- Right clicking "delete" on a selected channel to remove it from your channel list does not result in the deleting of that channel
- The number of people displayed for a chat channel rarely matches the number of characters displayed in the list to the right.
- Local chats sometimes going awall and showing loads of peeps who aren't in fact there
There are some problems with escrow but since I do not use it I can't assertain whether it is in fact a bug or its worth asking |

For community questions I have thus far
Drones
- Will we see other types of mining drones back on the market. IE Advanced, Elite, Harvestor. Why are they not on there now, will they ever come back?
- Repair drones and other newer advanced forms of drones. Will we ever see them? How is their progress coming along? When if at call can we expect them?
- Will there ever be a skill that will allow control of more then 10 drones?
Graphics
- Customizable spaceship skins "sprayshop" any news on this feature? planned/in talks/issues you have with it? Do you have any other plans to implement external ship customization abilities in the game?
Market
ALL Tech1 bps, can they please be put on the market. When can we see the SCC putting final approval on Tech2 items?
Gameplay
Instajumps. Your thoughts on them (DEVS) Will they be removed, how do you feel about them and what is your stance. Officially. Any plans that may impact them?
Interbus. When if ever at all will we see its use implemented
Here is a thread for you guys, add to it and come up with more, so far this thread is pretty lacking w/lots of complaining. I'll try my best to ask relevant questions so feel free to add or talk about what I have on this list

Will it ever be possible to make your fleet all one color. Like if I wanted my fleet to be all black. Or if I wanted my fleet to be amarr colored. I do not approve of the other questions pertaining to this because I dont think that a large variety of colors should be allowed. I would only agree with using the colors currently in the game.
Are there any plans on making pirate standings more used? Example I have positive standing towards a pirate faction. Say my standing was 1.0 to Serpentis. Will small serpentis fleets like you would find in .5+ not attack me? Will there ever be a chance of the higher your standing the more space you can travel in. Like if I had a 3.0 standing with Serpentis I can goto .3 space and not ever be attacked by them.
Are there any plans on offering some solutions for small corporations to own player owned structures. Will they ever be self sufficient and not require mined minerals to be added to them that you have to actually mine yourself?
Will space ever be expanded? Will there be new outer regions to make it more viable for new alliances to spring up, more chances for small corporations to own player owned structures, more chances for freelancers and just those who maybe dont want to engage in war by entering into deep space (THey all dont have to contain stations or rich asteroids or even pirate factions, but maybe some good moons for player owned structures).
What solutions are you coming up with to make being in a small corporation potentially just as good as being in a large corporation (minus mining potential and military numbers). The acquisition of minerals and components to even sustain say an individual who obtains a blueprint from his agent, seems impossible. Why cant a small corporation potentially be just as dangerous as a large one?
If I think of any more Ill add them to this thread.

Could one of the delegates bring up the recent dissatisfaction with patches? The game is being completely overhauled with every major patch and a growing number of people want to see it stop. Make minor balance changes if needed, but we're over a year into release, the time for completely reworking game mechanics has long since passed.
Every new patch I should find myself asking 'I wonder what new content will be added this time around', instead I ask 'I wonder what will be nerfed to **** this time around?' I'm not whining, I'm genuinely concerned for the future of this game. It's been 13 months ffs, leave the balance alone, it was fine before the patch, now we're back to the state of the game a week after release.

When will CCP stop messing about with balance and start debugging what they have already coded?
You can steadily see a decline in the stability of patches over the past year and I can't help but feel that a lot of that is to do with how buggy some things are.
If you introduce Shiva with so many current bugs unfixed, how do you foresee our reaction?
I'm telling you now, Shiva will not go smoothly unless you first fix the current bugs.

Q. Paintshop. Many mmo(rpg)s spent alot of efforts to allow the playbase to customize its apperance; EVE though seriously lacks in this field. Any news on such a feature?
Q. Will we ever get any new cam-options? A chase-cam would, for example, enhance the feeling of actually piloting a ship. ........ There is a fine line between gate camping and just standing by a gate, looking like an idiot... |

Could the chat channel tabs stack into 2nd and even 3rd rows at the top of the chat window so that they display the whole title of the channel, and do not stretch off the side of the chat window into the play area? Edited by: Dianabolic on 25/06/2004 17:16:04 1 - When will CCP be fixing the many, many bugs that are STILL existent in the game, some for a year or more? I specifically refer to the heavy drone bug that will hit targets at hundreds of KM.
2 - Would CCP consider posting a poll on the forums or through the game, 1 account = 1 vote, with the top 10 mentioned bugs, and allow the players to vote on what priority they wish these bugs to be worked on?
3 - Hellmar mentioned in the previous CSM that he thought players with more than 10m SP should learn slower, does he not think that the current plateu in the game, aka level 5 skills, is enough already? If no, why does he think that new characters should be able to catch older ones when we've been playing, paying and supporting this game for, on average to learn 10m sp, about 9-10 months? I subscribe for 6 months at a time, I appreciate that Hellmar was just airing an idea, however I would like to get concrete and absolute confirmation that this idea will not EVER be implemented before I re-subscribe again, my subs are due in October.
4 - Why do Dev's and CCP staff consistently have to leave the CSM chat before it is finished? Surely you're aware, by now, the time it normally takes to run a CSM and should schedule your time better; especially as it is, as you say, the best way to get feedback and interaction with the community?
5 - Who is in charge of quality control and patch stability and why do they still have their job? The last patch, though we DO expect and plan for instability, was a LOT buggier than the previous patch.
5a - Follow up to 5, can we now assume that, once the new nodes are fully integrated in to the cluster, that CCP will try and fall back on their promise, at the original castor patch, to release more regular and SMALLER patches? Can we also assume that, following Eight's (iirc) implementation of a more detailed QA system that the number of bugs that are fixed which then reappear in later bugs will drop immensely? I refer to the local chat bug, in-particular.
6 - Can I have a jar of cookies?

Especially it would rock to be able to export the data from the "Order", "Journal" and "Transactions" tabs. An export in .txt, .csv or perhaps even .xls would rock beyond believe and i can't imagine that it is too much to program. Perhaps even a function where you can export after time of the event (especially for "Transactions" and "Journal") would be very nice. For example you could export then all entries of the 27.06.2004 into an excel sheet, which can be number crounched for balances, statistics, taxes and general fun :)

Does CCP plan to change the way in which interceptor insurance is handled? Currently, a Crow averages 10m on the market, and the platinum insurance rate is 90k for a 300k payout. Under this system, losing 2 interceptors (depending on race and availibility of tech 2 construction components) is equivalent to losing a tier 1 battleship, assuming it was insured.

Originally by: Mabon Does CCP plan to change the way in which interceptor insurance is handled? Currently, a Crow averages 10m on the market, and the platinum insurance rate is 90k for a 300k payout. Under this system, losing 2 interceptors (depending on race and availibility of tech 2 construction components) is equivalent to losing a tier 1 battleship, assuming it was insured.
Why should they change it? Interceptor insurance only pays out the build asset worth, not the rarity or the prices charged by players for something that it cheap to make, hard to get.

My question is if the Tempest can get a cpu boost, since it lacks tanking in any form and the current cpu can only keep 1 large shieldbooster running. An XLarge cannot be fitted. - - -

Hi,
Can we get some indication of the tech2 BPO give aways, i.e. how many of each and the RP each character had who got the BPs. I spend about an hour each day flying across space to throw money at my research agent and if here information is to be believed she is only giving out op-frigs now and no longer inteceptors. I think what I'm trying to say is that it feels like a lot of work for little or no reward. I'm not saying that there should be more, I can see many reasons for limiting the release of these. I would just prefer to have some indication of the odds to see if it's worth keeping the research up.

Question :
Can we please have a rough date for when the changes/fixes to drones will go live on Tranquility ? (And don't say 'we were not aware of any problems with drones' lol).

1. He's not my friend.
2. I don't have a problem with people who warp to somewhere and log off or with people who just drop their connection as soon as they see danger. But I have problems with people who use exploits to vanish from space even if they have 8 warp scramblers on them and I have problems with people who use exploits to go through every gate and who do not have to care what at the other side is, cause they know how to avoid it.
3. Every person who has been reported by me was hardly a noob. The last wise guy was so proud of himself to use an exploit, he truely deserved to have a talk about this to a GM. -- Lord Nemesis > 14 days till mining barge lvl 5 then im strip all the ice in eve

Just for the record..........I've never used the log of tactic........ secondly I read these forums alot........and theres been no official word on weather or not its an exploit....... Thirdly if someone does ctd after coming through gate or gets badly lagged and decides to log...how does a GM determine an exploit was used.......
And finally....Sally/Molly you seem to have a habit of posting to every thread you are in with two characters??? no whats that all about?....backing up your own arguments.....thats a form of exploit in my opinion, some might see it differently though...........

Edited by: ShyLion on 05/07/2004 10:40:36 Is there any plans on making drones more intellectual, like: Commands in drone bay right click menu (or even better having a button on a window). 1. "Launch / Launch_all and attack current target (Launch and attack)" 2. "Launch / Launch_all and defend me" 3. "Launch / Launch_all and defend my gang" Commands in drone control window 4. "Return AND scoop to dronebay / Return AND scoop to dronebay_all" If you plan on having single window for drone-bay and drone control then that commands might be in one menu or whatever. Point is not where they are, but what will drones be able to do.

When will we see drone's reworked much like we are seeing missiles and turrets right now. New types or fixing their current problems and adding in new features for them.
Will we see more gang features that will make gang travel easier? Warping under control of gang leader to anyplace you would normallly be able to warp to (bookmarks, drop down menu). Will we see gamg jump? Formations? Limiting gangs to a size (having the leadership means omething when it is +1 to level and owkring as intended).

What will be done about the horrible video lag when lot's of objects are onscreen?
Will the gamecode for loading objects within a grid when entering said grid ever be revised? It's terrible at the moment.
Will the devs consider a hotfix option that let's you disable rendering of certain objects like drones and cargocans? These are useless models which have their own seperate HUD icon, do _not_ need to be rendered inspace, yet create horrible amounts of video lag that makes the game unplayable and gets people killed. Why can't we turn these useless models off when they keep crashing/freezing the game? When will the devs adress this issue and do something about it?
Large-scale fleet battles are suffering because of this problem, and having CCP even ignore the possibility of a small hotfix to disable some of the useless objects from being rendered shows a discouragement towards large-scale PVP in EVE. Major alliances have actually declared cease-fires in the past because of this escalating problem, leaders/spokepersons from these alliances have come together and made numerous posts about this issue, and yet not one word on what is officially being done to correct or hotfix this issue.
This is really something that needs to be adressed very-soonÖ, and I would like this issue brought up at the next CSM please. :)

For the CSM, short and sweet.
When can we see or get the two ships, from eve-i.com, Federation Megathron, and Infested Dominix? Also Titans, Shiva or another year before we see it? We understand it takes alot of work to add new ships, but would like something for BS gankin

So guess what, the exploit is there, the GMs know how to determine whether someone used it or not.

When will something be done about blueprint copies/lab slots? At the moment it's too easy and too cheap to flood the market with copies. Anyone with a lab slot can make 100 10-run Ogre blueprint copies in less than a month. And the actual cost to do this is about 5553 isk. (And the cost to prevent someone else from using a lab slot is 6k isk/month (192k isk/month if your hogging all the slots in a station.))
Oh... and will we be able to free minmatar slaves in Shiva?

Questions:
- With the trend towards encouraging racial weapons on racial ships with the tuning of the cpu and powergrid to encourage and discourage different slot layouts (eg highest power on apoc and lowest power on raven) could someone explain the reasons for keeping the (balance?) restrictions on the number of different types of high slot modules on ships, as the fitting is now dictated to a higher degree by the ship pg/cpu capabilities?
- Agent missions; are there any plans to enhance the existing scenarios with the warp logic of the new high level spawns, for example in the transport hunting missions having the transports warp out if the escort is destroyed?

Quote from Castor features page
"Engineering breakthroughs enhance ship technology with increased mass and/or available module slots have been implemented, along with increased cargo capacity, capacitor recharging rates and much more."
When can this be expected? What things are we going to see before Shiva. When can we start to guage that Shiva will be the next inevitable thing. What type of goals does CCP have in finishing Castor.
Seperate Question: When will Player Owned Conquerable station be updated in the castor features page. Along with the Shiva Features.

How bout a clarification on EW Specialists?
Target lock downs are now just a PVP only feature? Kinda makes Scorpions and the like pretty useless now. Locking down Rats may have made one or two possiblly not attack you but now....makes these modules useless unless you're attackin players..

It means CONCORD gets to have fun with forgetful people who spent ages in 0.0 and temporarily forget they can't just shoot anyone anytime

System scanning/warpdrive signature detection/antisafespotting possibility?
A lot of both pirates and anti-pirates have posted on this now in this thread. I am partial of course but I feel a clear majority of those who "can be arsed" to post agree to it. I don't want a 5-second warp to in local but some rebalancing is needed.

Edited by: Ris Dnalor on 18/07/2004 02:27:36 Could we get a more predictable / stable source for tech 2 building components rather than Agent Mission rewards? I'm not concerned with the prices being high, but the instability of the prices currently can be maddening. To make a comparison, you can go out & get X amount of minerals in a predictable amount of time by mining with a character of certain skill levels & owned ships/equipment. The same cannot be said for acquiring building components from agents.
I'd personally like to see some component blueprints dropped. However they should require a component reserach & a component construction skill, which would have high skill prerequisites, ( to specify: i'd like to 2 skills added for EACH component, one for researching the blueprint & another for building the component ) & have a high training time multiplier. This would allow some corps to specialize in building these components from minerals, but would the skill requirements would be intensive enough so that not everyone would just go out & train the skills neccessary to build their own components. Then we could add another tier to the industry trade, whereby the largish corps would build largish things, & some smaller corps could spring up & make a living buildign components for the largish corpies.

Implants: Is it intentional that they are now so ridiculously expensive? If not, why is it that we cannot unplug them before going into battle? People with full sets of implants are really hampered in their playstyle (at least those fearful of losing 100+ mio worth of implants).
Why not make the implants unpluggable but at some sort of penalty (negative bonus to attribute equivalent to implant bonus for a week - withdrawal u know).
. . . Awaiting more and hi-bit rate music - with bated breath ... |

Q: When is researching PE on BPs going to make any more than 5 seconds difference?
SUGGESTION: Each run of PE reduces the REMAINING run time by ~1%. This will introduce a very effective diminishing returns system and make it worthwhile to perform PE research.
Q: Can you please introduce ME savings on tech 2 components.
SUGGESTION: Code ME as a saving rather than a waste with 10% being the theroetical max you can never reach (inverse of current wastage factor). Make it count on small numbers of components by applying it it TOTAL number required for job. Thus creating efficiencies of scale.
Avoid exploit by only giving savings on completion of total job.
Done.

There is nothing cheaper in the game than a Lab and thus we see so many problems. More information is in my reply (http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=95138)
Will you increase Laboratory prices 50, 80 times to balance current situation?
Question 2 When will you fix exit vectors on stations? Please rework all the stations and fix their exit vectors accordingly. I am tired to bounce up and down and around when docking out (from "wrong" holes) or getting plainly stuck.

My question:
Will the labslot clusterf*ck be sorted out before Shiva? As it stands, one person can rent out all labs in a station for no better reason than to shaft someone else for isk.
I think the amount of labs someone can rent should be affected by the level of the Lab Ops skill (1 lab if lvl0, up to 6 labs if lvl5, as that's the amount of labs you can actually use at once). Upping the price of labs wont stop big corps hoarding slots, it'll just make it impossible for new players to take part in research (and manufacturing to an extent - how can you wage a price-war with me0 BP's?).
Please ask this one

Edited by: Cutter John on 23/07/2004 07:57:29 Just a fluff question more than anything, as most big ticket questions that i can think of are already taken.
how many of the devs have been working on Shiva since castor was released, vs how many worked on castor, or are currently working on live updates/fixes to tq. basically i'd like to know how much effort you guys are putting in. shiva has been stated to be anything from the greatest thing since sliced bread, to it will be a steaming pile of dog poo like castor. is shiva taking 20% of your time? 40%? 95%? i'd like to know if you guys have been sleeping in the office and havent seen sunlight, a shower, or your spouses for 3 months , or if you break at lunchtime and go golfing. i hope to get a bit more understanding of how much work you guys put in, so we can all be a bit more supportive of the efforts you put forth to make this game possible.
another question... when can miners expect to see some love, or new content. Since release there's been many things done to all aspects of the game(ESPECIALLY combat), but mining, the biggest timesink in this game, and most likely the most popular profession, has gotten the miner2 fiasco, dcm/merc, and ore redistribution. can we ever expect anything to be done to the process of mining to make it more enjoyable or exciting? aside from 18 billion more rats warping in? or even just faster with active participation(more than just dragging ore from the cargo to the can). more drones, ships(not tech2 dcm ships either, tech1 ships with mining bonuses that are as viable defensively for mining as frig/cruis/bs), new ores, methods of surveying, rare rocks that are like striking gold, someway to get to 96m3 per minute with a miner2(please? ), more mining related modules?

A Module question...
If Micro-Warp-Drives & Afterburners come in strengths measured in MegaNewtons, shouldn't Spacial Webbifiers also come in strengths? My though on it is that it wouldn't seem to me that it should be as easy to reduce the momentum of a battleship as it would be to reduce the momentum of a frigate; or in real-world terms, it's easier to stop a bicycle than it is to stop a freight train, eh?

What happened to the ELO ranking system? We've seen some hints at rankings when we saw the posts on first corps created and which are most constested player owned stations, and I dont think im the only one who wants to see more of this. Any plans to put up that ranking system or something simpler just to statisfy people till the ELO one does arrive?

Edited by: Hawk Firestorm on 23/07/2004 07:13:20 In light of all the various problems with trying to balance a unbalancable fitting system, where the current system doesn't lay down any clear defined boundries in exactly what a ship can fit are CCP prepared to look at the current fitting system?
The current system is too vague, and way too simplistic, not to mention impossible for poor TomB to balance, as soon as he changes anything it pushes everything else out and causes massive pain on both sides, not to mention the waste in developement time and all the time wasted stamping out the bush fires because of it.
Other bad thing of course everything in game stems from this, as the game revolves around ships, it doesn't nothing to lay clear defined boundries as to exactly what or indeed how much any given ship can fit of any module type, or indeed do anything to enhance ship roles and functions that enhance gameplay.
I personally think that the current system should be replaced, and that ships have system specific slots, and modules a user can upgrade or add in clearly defined and limited manner according to ship role, and racial traits.
With ships designed for a specific purpose, opening the game up to more varied gameplay as well as getting users off the BS track so that all ships have a function, and all are worthwile to play and also laydown some clear boundries that users can't bypass and get rid of etereme fitting for actual correct game balance.
While I do appreciate the ammount of work involved, I also appreciate just how much time has been lost to this, and how much pain it's causing CCP and us the users too, this puppy needs a vet.

It makes very little sense, if a curiser requires 40 thrusters, how exactly does someone use up 44.
But without any offical notice of this, before or after patch, I have no idea if this is a bug or not?. What is the policy on Hidden patches, I can understand cases where the player base cannot be told about a patch until it happens, but afterwards?
It makes me wonder what else has changed.

Just resurfaced in the Missions forum. A thread posted by Papa Smurf last year (i.e. July 2003) http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=13088
This is all implied to be about done and ready to roll out. But over a year later we are still waiting, with no real timescales beyond shiva or later for most of the features. Is there any info on actually when the rest of the things are likly to appear, and why they never appeared last year?
---- I'll be off for most or all of July, starting about now.
While I'm away I expect the following to occur:
The black market service will be deployed and should be fleshed out with more content.
Agent's should be usable now to drive a storyline, and I'd expect some major storyline events coming through them because of that.
Hopefully the message texts should be sorted out so that corps, race, bloodline, etc. have different missions and different messages, creating a better feel for the EVE corporate world and landscape.
Agent loot tables will be developed, although I'm not sure they'll be deployed, if not, it'll happen shortly after I come back.
Scenario based missions will be deployed, where you go to some interesting place, fight the locals, get stuff, etc. Good camping spots, f.ex.
Shortly after I come back, and all the dust is settled, I expect the following to occur:
Anything not already done from the list above.
The standing system will be given a major overhaul and become a driving force for the agent system. This will change how agents are acquired, what services are available, etc.
Info services will start appearing.
The locating service will be fixed up properly.
Player-vs-player and corp missions will start to appear.
Level 4 and 5 agents will be opened up for business.
Love, beauty and profit to you all Gallente, forever free be.

Is it true that Sharpshooter has a negative impact on pepople's ability to fight at close range, since their optimal range increases and thus they are worse off in close combat than a person with no Sharpshooting skills? And do you intend to fix it?
. . . Awaiting more and hi-bit rate music - with bated breath ... |

I don't see any of the CSM people ever posting in this thread. Neither did I see many of the questions on this thread being addressed in a CSM. Can we assume that, nevertheless, they will hear and listen to what I would like them to ask?
