Originally by: cpt Mark dude this is exactly what I did, but i couldn't salvage the wrecks... i just took the items from them.
I made 40 mill in around 1.5 hours. and i was a week old =))).
WHen i went to the market and saw one of the two guns were worth 10 million each I was so happy that it took me 10 minutes to sell them and i was just staring at the ISK...
same here, i was alos about week old when i took my first steps into low security, i jump into low sec expecting to get slaughtered by a pirate or something, and nothing, excetp 3 large wrecks on the gate, i decided, eh, why not, i go, in two of the wrecks, it was only cap booster 800 charges, however in another wreck, i found 6 LARGE T2 guns, i immediately looted that can, made probably 20-30million off of it
and ignorance really is bliss, about 3 weeks after this, and making quite a few jumps to low sec, i went on the help channel (forgot why) but i went on the help channel, and saw someone talking about a gate camp, i ask : what's a gate camp? then, they explain what it is
like two days later looking to loot some low sec wrecks, i run straight into a gate camp
ever since, i hit gate camps like probably 75% of the time i jump into low sec

Well my hat's off to the OP. He did exactly what any new player should do when faced with the challenge of making isk without being bored by it. He experimented and tried multiple approaches, then he optimized his efforts, and then he wasn't afraid to try something new.
Kudos to you sir and have a good time.

I just posted a thread about the virtues of the Vigil as a ninja salvaging ship. Normally I use an executioner but Vigil has some benefits worth noting.
Your probe of course is good for cargo space if you're taking loot, but if you just want salvage parts (0.01m3 each) a faster ship like an Executioner or Vigil is best.

We actually have inter-corp rivalries on salvaging wrecks after fights (there's one particular director that's a salvaging *****). Then again, it helps keep the pvp ships well rigged.
I'll leave some tech 2 wrecks on the Reisen gate just for your guys __________________________________________________ Sup brosef! Destry's Lounge is looking for a few good drunks - contact me in game.

Edited by: Rhiaden on 29/08/2008 10:12:01 Edited by: Rhiaden on 29/08/2008 10:10:17 Hmm, this thread made me divert my current plans to giving this a try, however, as i am still saving cash for stuff (less than a month old right now, and keep spending my cash trying out new fittings ), and i fly a kessy, i wanted to combine something i can use for missions/ratting with something for nipping in, retrieving salvage, and nipping out...so here is my variaton on Tchells atron, criticism/suggestions welcomed:
Low Slots: Nanofiber internal structure ii, overdrive injector system ii Medium Slots:Small cap battery ii, (only for salvaging runs, not fitted for missions/ratting/general annoyance) Cold-Gas arcjet thrusters (will swap to catalyzed one when i have the skills), Langour drive disrupter High Slots: Salvager i Malkuth missile launcher x 2 Limos rocket launcher
i wouldnt normally have mixed rockets + missiles, but, couldnt get 3 x missiles on there, and for ratting and general level 1 stuff, rockets make it too squishy, if i am just off for some salvaging, then i would swap out the 2nd missile launcher for another salvager.

- dont use guns, just salvagers - dont use T2 modules, just basic cheap ones - Dont use expencive ship, just cheap one - Expect to die in any time so your losses (ship + modules) are minimum - When you salvage something valuable or steal cargo imideatly dock and leave cargo in station then return in action. - try to find a hot spots (some place where usual gang goes for gate camp) - operate in 3-5 linked systems for bigger % of wrecks, and bookmark some places which you find to be important in surviving.
I hope this little thingies help

I don't pretend that i'm any good at the minute; i'm running two ravens on two accounts, one 9mill sp one 3mill sp, each tech1 fitted. Rewards and bounties give me about, what 15-20 mill? After that, or during the mission, I bring the third account in; cormorant with 4x salvager 4x tractor beam. Salvage salvage salvage, log over and get hauler. Sell it all.
At least 40, maybe 55-60 mill.
I have a better idea, Knight. Why don't you come join Suddenly Ninjas, and we'll scan down Tierie's Missions and make her cry?
Mission Runners? In My C&P?

It sounds like you're having fun, which is the main point of why you're doing what you're doing. If you want to make some more coin, make Mission Runners cry and whine to the point of getting into a spitting, swearing frenzy, come give us a try. (We've been wardecced since week one, so we're doing something right!)
It will definitely give you more profit, with a little less risk (i.e. not everybody can shoot you) but the tears are what make our lives whole.

This, really.
How could someone possibly suggest a profession as boring and mindlessly tedius as mission running? ;) In C&P?

I spent a week after I finished all my scanning skills for exploration doing a little ninja salvaging. Let me offer a few notes.
If you can afford it, running 2 accounts really speeds this up. I would scan with one toon, and salvage with another so that I didnt have to waste time running my prober back to station and switching to a fast frigate salvager.
Base out of a main trading/mission running hub. Constant war dec's in empire means ton's of T2 salvage sitting right out side your station or on the gates in your system.
Don't join Suddenly Ninjas or any other corp. If you look at SN's killboard, they loose a ton of money in lost ships from war decs. Stay in the newbie corp and make your own chat channel for keeping in touch with fellow salvagers. You are now untouchable by all the ticked off mission runners, unless you loot their rat wrecks.
Don't smack talk in local. No one likes people who act like smart a** 14yo's. At some point in time you may decide to switch careers and join a traditional corp. People keep lists of the a**hats they run into, just waiting for them to join a corp so they can be war dec'd. End result is the mission runners hunt you down, or cause enough trouble for your new corp and they kick you.
Go for the battleship wrecks first, they are the money. A lot of time I see mission runner grouped with a corp salvager. He'll sit there going for whatever's closest, usually npc frigates, while I go straight for the money.
Don't worry about the M runners warping out on you. They always thinks this works. If you are in a small fast frig, and there are no scrambling frigs left, just keep going for the wrecks, make a book mark, and check back every now and then to see if they come back. This ticks them off.
If they bring a corp salvager with 4 tractor beams along, dont be afraid to get right up next to him. I usually sit about 3km off so I get the first cycle with the salvager. This reallyyyy ticks them off.
There is one exception to the "Don't loot the wrecks" rule. My biggest single mission haul was looting a gallente BS that got popped in the mission while his raven buddy was sitting 20km away. Guy had a bunch of T2 mods and a crap ton of salvage and tags that dropped. Your in a fast frigate, if your not already targeted, get up next to the wreck and figure out what you want from the loot, loot it and warp. Dock up for 15 mins and wait for your aggression timer to expire. Go for the player ship loot.

This is completely a viable option, and you have the right to your opinion.
Our Members do get involved with wars, however, with the fact that we have 80+ Members now, those killboard numbers are changing. We have a dedicated Combat Fleet, and we live by the rule "only fly what you can afford to lose".
What we have created, and what you seem to miss, is the Corporation that is respected for having the balls to accept that yes, we will be wardecced. We make no bones about it. We've been extremely popular since we started, and our Members choose not to hide in NPC Corps, just because it's safer. This is EvE Online, and if you want to fly like that, you might as well fit a ship up for Mining or Mission Running.
It's been said for numerous reasons, but it still holds true. If you want to experience all that EvE Online has to offer, get out of an NPC Corp and into a Player Corp.
You don't have to become a Ninja Salvager, and you don't have to join Suddenly Ninjas, but you won't truly reap the benefits of this game until you join a Player Corp.
