i think hes asking...why did it get that way to begin with..so sorry, please rescind your /thread.
Yes, and exactly answered that: Jita is what it is today because the inherent game logic enforces this.
That the trading hub is Jita and not Perimeter or whatever is actually random noise (or maybe random plus some advantages like beeing connected to several regions). Eve G.

Hmmm, I like the idea of removing all agent missions, that would at least allow the people who just want to play the non trading/scamming game to get on with it. _____________________ I'm not afraid to die My soul will carry on You can't kill me I'm Imortal |

Solution could be some kind of virtual wallstreet, so that traders can trade without beeing at a specific place (and I mean also over region borders!). This would also require some kind of automated transportation between the traders for no cost, otherwise they will still meet in one trade hub. And for customers the solution would be to offer a home-delivery-service, so that they can stay where they are and buy what they need. But it will only work if it does not cost a single cent, otherwise customers will still go there to spare a few cents... CCP is discussing some home-delivery-service for quite some time now, but I fear that if they ever implement it, it will cost ISK. That may be logic/fair in game terms, but it will corrupt the purpose.
All other proposals I have seen so far fight only the symptom, not the root cause!
Regards, Eve G. (<-- inhabitant of Jita, that has NEVER left Jita 4-4 since born 1 year ago )
I disagree with your 'solutions'. For one, there is already a 'deliver at home' trade service. Players can have items transported and delivered to them, just by using contracts and other players. I'm being completely serious, by the way, not sarcastic or insulting. If you add a 'deliver at home' service, you will severely hamper a profession that is already feeling a lot of pain, that of the industry-driving hauler. And yes, players DO 'haul' as a profession.
I would agree to have an option, when you purchase something remotely, to allow a popup that asks if you would like to contract to have that delivered to you. Something automatic (optional to turn off, of course), to show new players that yes, you CAN have something delivered to you from some distant market.
The second issue of trading: personally, I wouldn't mind if there was a skill to allow a player to 'trade' across regional borders. These skills would be advanced and in addition to the current trade profession. To buy across a regions boarders, a player would need to train the skill that allows one to buy throughout their region to V, and then train the skill that allows players to buy across in a neighboring region. Same for sales.
Basically, it wouldn't be a overpowered solution that nullifies current skills, but adds on. Someone who does trades across multiple regions would be a dedicated trade character.
And while you could buy something in, say, Domain, you could only sell it in Domain. To buy it in one area and sell it in another, you would still need to have it transported somehow, either by yourself, or through a dedicated hauler.

I use Amarr alot. Peaceful, rarely very busy, good peeps in system. Only a few jumps from home.
But I'd rather go to Rens than Jita.

I went there only once, however, because I needed a slave set and various implants for my head. For other things, I just get people I know to go to Jita and buy me stuff.
There are other market hubs which are decent, but Jita is close (to me), has everything, etc. Reasonable prices, too.
It's the real center of EvE trade, which is why it's crowded and laggy as a consequence. There is nothing wrong with lag in huge commerce centers.
Things like 'delivery at home' is idiotic. There must be a way to interdict the people bringing stuff from place X to place Y.

As in Real Life, trade hubs are created by the amount of Roads crossing it and the traffic on those roads. Jita has an abnormal amount of roads leading into it compared to other systems. This makes it easier to get to from more places. Add in the fact that Caldari space is the most populated area of space in the EVE Universe and you've got a Trade-Mecha.
For those of you who wish for an analogy, Chicago was created under near identical circumstances with several highways crossing and as a site of portage for the great lakes. It is the financial capital of the American Mid-west as a result. -------------- CEO of Round Table Enterprises Chairman of the Leather Rose Syndicate
