Before they need to add effects (many people have turned them off anyway because of performance), they need seriously need to upgrade the backgrounds and planets.
You see the background almost 100% of the time, so that is MOST important. How often do you see effects? 15% of the time?
Honestly, the background is not bad, but way outdated by now. If I look at what is possible today with for example fractal stuff and procedurally generated pictures, then Eve backgrounds are really looking old and outdated.
I just hope that CCP will use some modern approach to the background and not the same old (boring) stuff just with a bit higher resolution and some different textures.

Vista blows ass, I bought vista x64 edition and I've only seen my system slow down and crash (every single time) on start up when the green bar is showing vista loading, it eats resources and is generally a really fatty OS, could do with a cut down version for gamers. Yes I've disabled aero and all the visual *******s aside from the themed windows. unfortunatly due to M$ being bastards I have to keep it installed to play the few DX10 titles I own, it really annoys me that they haven't made DX10 compatible with XP. Ah well, I suppose XP was like this when compared to win2k and after a few hundred patches and a couple of service packs it got pretty good....

Soon my friend, soon. MS stopped the shipping of new PCs with XP a while ago. It's vista from now on for the masses! _______________

MSoft extended xp support because netbooks couldn't run vista properly. They wanted in on the market and XP was the solution

Vista works fine for me (but then again I do have Quad Core, 4GB ram, GT8800).
Runs smoothly, and I've only ever had one crash since I got it in January and that was due to a driver conflict which was soon fixed.
Shiny DX10 stuff would be nice, but I rather they focus on fixing issues such as lag hotspots like Jita. Either add more nodes to the system (won't help much, as it will speed up, then everyone will go there bccause it's smooth, and then it slows again), or add a bypass system that people can use to avoid jita.

simple Solution you suck with computers, or your cheap and its a branded computer or youve got a custom computer that you have no ****ing clue about, very simple, vista is good in lots of ways, i have never had a crash except for the Geforce 8 series drivers as well but then again they where fixed withing 10 minutes

Most vista related issues are due the fact people have hardly a clue nor taken any time too get him/her familiar with Vista.. I wont say vista is made perfectly, but M$ knowing they throw everything on different places and rework the GUI totally.. People who work profesionally in the IT, know what i am talking about, and dislike windows/MS for that same reason, but still they get it working..
Vista has become ackward due the huge Tele-tubby gadgets thats placed in (something M$ started to do since MS-Dos) and they overdone themselfs in Vista, making it a huge resource hogger and cumberstone..
Fact is, with some tweaking and serious reworking startup of vista, and a lil knowledge of Vista, it can even run smoother, faster and alot more stable as XP.. Granted.. XP is atm still better due the fact, Vista isnt as widespread as XP, released too soo due that XP is still sufficient for most people/bussineses etc etc.. All that i do concur with, its through, but i just say out of my own expierences with Vista, it isnt that crap once you got it tweaked and stripped down too just the basic needs..

Originally by: Dhejay Centrix I used to hate vista for no reason until I actually got it. It really is good, after sp1 anyway. As has been said already XP wasn't great until sp2, if like so many people I know you are trying to install vista onto your 4 year old machine and whining about it being heavy on resources then you don't deserve to be posting about it as you clearly don't know what you're doing, unless your 4year old machine has a multi-core cpu and 4gb of ram. If that's the case then you've broken something.
!!!
after many many many many long nights of you bashing vista on vent.. you've finally succumbed!
Vista is fine, yes i have a q6600, yes i have 4gb of Ram,yes i have a 9800gx2, yes Vista has absolutely NO negative impact on my pc at all, infact that function it has where it "uses" lots of ram.. whats iot call, quickfind or something? cant remember.. but i absolutely love it when an application pops open fully operational thise side of a millisecond.
for those of you on the ole Pentium Beige machines.. move on. if your PC struggles with vista its probably struggling playing DVD's, browsing modern web pages, it probably struggles alt tabbing between speadsheets and word documents.
for the rest of us who will spend a little bit of money to enjoy a fast responsive computing experience, vista is just fine, great even.. i like my things to look as good as they run

Edited by: Deb Dukar on 03/09/2008 13:47:00 id be pleased if they allow us to uses AA and HDR together. I've got it working anyways with nhancer but i'd prefer the window mode and here it wont work for me.
PS: Vista 64 > whatever ... never had such a rockstable system before. got it like 9 months now, never had a single bluescreen or major crash. rebooted like 10 times maybe cause of updates or other stuff. the rest of the time my system spends in sleep mode ------------------------- horray for typos |
