Edited by: Kimochi Rendar on 07/09/2008 11:29:58 Hon Kovell... Now there's a man who knows more than his fair share about footwear - and the leather trade as well by the sound of it. I must say, I am impressed!
I will say though, that the manufacture of quality footwear isn't entirely dependant on the conditions for gathering materials in that particular area. Materials can always be imported from elsewhere, as in the case of Kiriko's Boutique - Hence why their shoes and boots take a while to make... It just means that they are a little more expensive to buy.
Originally by: Anneka Tong Shoes represent one of the best hopes that we have of ending these stupid wars between the empires.
Think about it. We like shoes, even if most men don't. These wars threaten the manufacture, distribution and sale of some of the finest shoes humanity has to offer.
When the women of the empires realise this en masse, then every male decision-maker will find that his wife, girlfriend, sister, mother, daughter, aunt or any other woman in his life will pester him endlessly about why he isn't ending this damn war and ensuring the supply of quality shoes.
Mark my words, Shoes are the Key to Peace in Our Time.
This put a smile on my face... The idea of the whole of New Eden being united by a common cause - namely the need for easily attainable quality footwear - is an excellent one!

Originally by: Hon Kovell There are no good vendors of shoes in Fricoure. You are misinformed. The weather patterns are entirely inappropriate for raising quality livestock to make materials from.
I don't mean to pry but I did anyway. The Intaki Reborn artisan Deltes Auste, renowned for centuries for the legendary boots he crafted, disappeared when the Caldari left - presumed dead under their final bombardment. Millions weeped for the loss when they learned of the terrible loneliness facing their feet, never to know true love for a boot. His skills had persisted through incarnation after incarnation. Every cycle his soul focused on perfecting its craft. Memories of family and speech and the universe - gone. The feel of leather worked in his hands - still there. Now those skills were gone to us. A tragedy that brings on a tear even now. What should I find on Fricoure but stories of a craftsman of such skill that people paid for the privilege of seeing him work. A skill that produced the boots I wear right now. Boots near identical to those of Deltes himself! The estates where he obtained materials were a much more closely guarded secret. Something occurred to me. You always were rather fascinated with livestock. Always going on about your ponies. Not just any ponies, though, were they? Rather beautiful hides they had, each and every one. I always thought that hangars were odd environments to keep herds in but they have such carefully monitored environments, don't they?
I want boots and I want them now. You're supplying Deltes and now Deltes is going to supply me. I made you what you are today and you're going to (have Deltes) make me boots! NOW! |

Not often and even if I am invited to one of your spoiled rich girl-fashion partys I'd prefer to get drunk and raped in a bar on a lowdeck. Thats more amusing and something more entertaining than that manoevering around on a fraudolent high society v.i.p. Caldari bimbo-yuppie business ****tail-party.
You can draw your gun and shoot the idiot in the face with your flechette and don't have to smile and nod.
Quote: Plain is usually not so plain... just a diamond in the rough (unfortunately, my connection seems to be malfunctioning because your image is not displaying properly, so I can not say for certain). And we said we're not discussing politics or war in this channel... so begone.
There is nothing in this universe that is indeed not either politics or war. And if someone claims that it is'nt its just a neat trick of war.
Quote: Shoes for the occasion, if I plan on making a 100km march... well, first off I need to have a lot of alcohol in my system to even agree to such a crazy idea. Our ships are blasting your lack and frill designercrap out of universe wherever we meet, if I may add in my humbleness. Rust or buckets we got more guns we got more firepower and at last we got better spirit. The reason for this may be that our pilots wear good plain leatherboots.

Whos say's you can't do both? Do you honestly thing that some of the thigh high boots are purely a fashion statement? Of course I carry small arms with me, never know if I'm going to run across a disgruntled customer in a bar, or a handsy Brutor that doesn't understand the word no. Besides, sometimes you just need to be a lady and enjoy yourself.
A Brutor warrior has almost everywhere a sense for yes or no. Where this sense has gone lost is at diplomatics, politics and first of all corporates. If you want to see one folk **** another take a stroll down to the slavequarters.
Quote: What do slaves have to do with fashion?
They work under unspeakable conditions in your manufactures from child to aged? And while you swallow grapes and nip at exclusive wines they bite into the leather to make it softer for your feet and drink the rusty water that is dripping from the valves in the lower decks?

And finally, if the fashions mentioned here "cramp your style anyway", why not suggest something that you do like rather than just be ****y and say that you don't like what we do?
I don't try to be ****y. You can do what you like if you don't mess up with the freedom of other while you do it. But while the entire free world is in chaos and suffers from the war you have started, the only people that suffer in your society are the working slaves.

Miss puts her feet up on the console, you see they are these. She checks behind her, seeing nothing but a metal door - locked, and proceeds to eat the insects, looking as if she enjoys the shrill sound of the blighted bugs chirps of perceived pain.*

Okay. What is so bad about shoes? It's consume. And to consume means to be at war, to destroy and waste stuff in the fastest possible speed. That's what's wrong about your shoes.
Those who have to pay for your decadence are the poor. Are the slaves. Are those you are exploiting by wasting stuff for your chiqueria-bimbo-life. That's what's wrong about your shoes. I have no problems with slippers or something. No prob at all. Wear what you like, as you want. But just wasting stuff because you can, that's wrong. That's totally wrong and if you can't see this, you must be something like blind.
There are three stages in every society: survival, inquiry, sophistication known as How, Why and Where phases. How can I prevent my feet bleeding when I march? Why do I have to march? And finally: Where do I get the most classy highheels that are available?
The last phase is also known as decadence and usually ends with people from the first stage blasting the intestines out of the latter after a long march and coming to the second stage asking: "Why are there so stupid bitches in this universe and why have I always have to do the dirty work that has to be done?" -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

But - yes! We are truly enjoying crunchy grashoppers and things like that. Insects are rich on vitamin, essential unsaturated fatty acid and of cause lots of protein. I really adore some of them. What is not so tasty is this glibber that is served here in Gallente restaurants. Glibber, ah, local dialect, I mean gooish stuff that is like snails and muscles and that and everything raw. Yikes!
And you'll nowhere get any wild boar in clodded blood here what we call schwarzsauer. Some like it with mint sauce but I prefer this clodded blood souce. Hmmm - delicious. I hope the barbaric kitchen here in Gallente will one day learn good cooking. Ah - you may turn this against me but everyone has his personal weak points, my is eating Matarian delicatess like the one I mentioned.
It's plain good food for plain good people. Ever tasted grilled cockchafer grub or Grigrub in my language? Food aside, and there is much that I can do with food, believe it or not, I wish to thank those that offered to take my wife shopping.
I myself have what she refers to as "limited fashion sense" and I know that shopping with me is a ... chore. She is very new and inexperienced when it comes to the shops and locations of our galaxy, and I myself am not often interested in such things as clothing as she is.
As to Pilot Wildfire, I once had a friend of Matari origin that would make a dish of roasted peppers and rare, grilled meat slices marinated in a very spicy sauce served over a plate of rice. It was most flavorful. Sadly, I think she has taken a sabbatical from the spacelanes, as I have not seen her in some time.
God go with you all, Pilots.

Edited by: Alica Wildfire on 09/09/2008 09:18:15 Yea, especially the Sebriasta cooking is quite fun! I know what you mean. To put our meals on a diat does not make very much sense. Too much proteine in it and that. Tell ya some speciality from home, just between us two. You take a pan and make it really hot. Must be hot otherwise it wont work. You put some oil in it and heaten it up. Then you take some delicatess crickets, that you can buy in every specialityshop around Minmatar space and crunch them until they are a homogene mass.
Some prefer to first put away the chitin shells and remove the inner with a spoon, but its taking away much of the natural spice of that insects, that's a bit nutty. Then you put it in the pan and fry it fast and hot. You can spice it with local spice blend that is not so easy to make for a foreigner and needs a lot of knowledge cause it easy can made wrong and does not taste good.
After spicing it a bit you may -or may not- pour a bit vodka in it and shortly burn it. You got a quite spicy omlette-thing with that. You take two halve sandwich like for a burger maybe with some sesame or so and can put a sheet of tomato and a leaf of salad between that. As a drink I'd prefer vodka but other people prefer the more hard stuff that is distilled in the Mitar distillerys on many places around my home. Often without licence and those are, if I may add, most often the best - but you have to know what you get cause you can be served that cheap stuff for tourists that are not of high quality and is better used for polishing the rifles of your autocannons.
Better don't drink those. Could be that you'll need a new clone after that.
But - gee! - I can promise that you'll have a quite nice evening. There are also some good things with filled intestines of sheep that is served at home. I can tell ya later about that. Those are often spiced with mint sauce which I mentioned before.
Oh. I got a bit off topic with that. What about drinking Mitar vodka out of boots? Your own military boots after a long march for example? Good for your leather good for your health? -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

You make it sound like we don't own functional shoes. I own a few pairs very similar to those Stitcher has shown, I use them when I am planetside or in the docks lending a hand. The shoe may not be important in itself, but it's effects are. Same with makeup.
Heels compared to flat shoes require a different posture and way of walking, which accentuates different parts of the anatomy.
Similarly, makeup draws attention to/from various features.
