Originally by: Inara Subaka And speaking from experience, when a mans attention is directed at those particularly accentuated parts of a womans anatomy, business transactions are much smoother and far more profitable.
Not always. I recall one time, when I was getting plastered in a dive somewhere in Venal, and one rather well-dressed young lady was discussing business with a few rather rough-looking men. Things seemed to be going well (well, there wasn't any gunplay yet), when all of a sudden, the four men stood up, called the lady a "Poor actor, and worse-looking harlot!" and stormed out.
I rolled over to the now-crying lady, who didn't mind turning things into an open-bar night. It seems she was trying to secure passage out of the region, and wanted to make a good impression; she dressed well, make-up, the whole bit. These men seemed to think she was trying to show off her wealth, and insult them with it.
After that, I recall breaking a hand on some poor schlub's face, and from there, waking up on top of a Thorax I used to own, surrounded by empty bottles and boxes full of dirt.

Yea, can sing that song too. My experience is when you are making real deals, you better not show off and stay at a level of understandment with your clientel. So when dealing with gun for example and your customers are freedom fighters from the Tribal Libaration Force, just as an example, you better show up in good steady boots, get dressed plain with some leather and military jacket and a T-shirt with some cool slogan on it.
I do not know where these hisoc-hussies live but I have to stand my girl on dirty plattforms in space, frequented by miners, traders and sometimes pirates that what to sell off their loot or their tradeware or their cargo full of ore. And because I'm just one of them and not standing on a higher level I show it. And I show it with pride. You won't see me wearing this sort of decadent footwork that can be seen on the showviews on the V.I.P. promenades in some Caldari Hisec for example.
May some meteorite storm hit that systems anyway. I think nobody would miss it.
Style -and that's the thing to learn for this hussies- is not a thing managed by PR agents and marketing specialist that manupulate all day and try to define what is "cool" and what is not. Style is an expression of lifestyle. And lifestyle you can't buy for money. You have to live it. That's what I say.
Why else are those decadent fashist Caldari PR agents creating a new "Minmatar Pirate Style" for their catwalks every year? Because they don't have style. They try to copy. And that's poor. That's what I say.
And those overstyled en vogues are insulting my eye anyway. My eye and my intelligence. Just get into a speedfittet Slasher and live it, if you want it. That's what I say. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

I currently live in Derelik on a station owned by the Thukkers. The way I dress is admittedly rather at odds with my surrounding environment, and once my appearance got me into a lot of trouble... Although that was more to do with my Khanid blood rather than my dress sense. I put things right though, and since then I have taken to making sure that people know I am a pirate associated with the Angel Cartel. That and having a laser blaster strapped to my thigh ensures that people don't mistake me for some soft Holder's daughter.. I would encourage you to not make the same mistake, Pilot Wildfire.
Anyway, my point is that just because I am a pirate does not mean I have to dress in oily rags and refuse to take a shower after every pod disconnection. I take pride in my appearance, and part of that involves using my ridiculous Capsuleer budget so that I can wear the nicest clothes I can.
Call me an attention seeker if you will, but I like it when people stare at me as I walk through the station... As I said in a previous post, awe and lust are my favourite reactions, preferably at the same time.

Just because I wear fancy shoes out for dancing or clubbing, doesnt mean that I dont have good workable boots or shoes. You use the proper thing for what you want to use it for. You dont use a gun to open a jar of pickles, if you do you dont get whole pickles, you get shreds. You dont use an explosive device to open your front door, if you do you wont have a door for long. You dont use a screwdriver to hammer in a nail. You dont wear club clothes when trying to keep a low profile on a stakeout (unless your staking out a club). You dont wear 6-inch heels on a 10km march.
The point is that you wear clothing appropriate to the venue you're at. Risque clubwear is not good for a board meeting. It might be good for certain kinds of business meetings though, especially if you want to have the other party think your a ditz or all show and nothing to back it up. Having the other guy underestimate you is always to your advantage.

But isn't it a question of style? Not just of style but of lifestyle in general? The shoe is a fetish for many people because it is a symbol, it's a status symbol and a lifestyle symbol. And this means it is not just a tool.
Symbols mean something. And when using them we are promoting a special lifestyle. And it is this sort of lifestyle that I abhor.
Even if I can understand the hard hard life of a pirate and how a woman has to act to gain respect I think if her shoes were just a tool, she would not start talk about it. But they do. And with this they promote.
They promote supression and slavery and cruelty, decadence, waste and in the end supression of people for their own profit. This is why I hate their shoes and I won't wear them. Not even on a diplomatic dinner, so ka?! -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

Wise words pilot Tenu. That is how I feel about it as well. I do however have to say that Kimochi always looks very nice in her dresses and picks them according to the occasion. I would even be surprised if I would see her in jeans and a t-shirt with a pair of combat boots under that...

And that's the difference of her and me. Not that she is a Pirate and I am not. Things can change and the one that is outlaw may be the judge next time. Some become pirate because they want fast profit reckless to the other people.
And some become a Pirate maybe because the society is not their society anymore and they have no choice left but to leave it and live in the dangerous outskirts.
Some wear highheels, some wear boots. I am more of the latter type and will never be of the first. There is honour amoung thieves, I do believe this. Even if I am wrong I will always be like this, even if the future should come bad on me. But it seems not like that.
But whatever. I will wear boots where I stand. Because for me they are just a tool. And I do not need a uniform to buy me respect and to submiss myself to a certain style and accessoire to be what I am.
There may be societies that do not tolerate this. But bow my neck to a protocoll? Forget it. I do no dancing in my shoes. Plain or pain. That's my way. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

Myself, day to day, I tend to wear a a pair of Leather Boots, steel toed.
On the occasions when I have to dress up, I will usually throw on a pair of Dress boots with a high shine
