Keeping t20 within company was the worst decision CCP ever made. No other MMOPRG company would do this. It's simply not worth it. See:
Consider you are just a stranger that wanna start EvE online, you go the most common dictionary: wikipedia punch in in 'eve online' and under public perception you can see: -------------------------------------------------------- Developer misconduct Since the release of Eve Online there has been proven developer as well as player-corporation misconduct, leading to debates and controversy within the Eve community. On February 9, 2007, a player known as Kugutsumen revealed that an Eve Online developer nicknamed 't20' had provided his in-game alliance, Band of Brothers, with ten valuable blueprints, giving them an advantage over competing corporations.[76] Despite calls for t20's dismissal he is still an Eve Online developer while Kugutsumen was permanently banned from the Eve universe for violating the game's Terms of Service and End-user License Agreement.[76]
In response to public concerns, CCP decided to set up an Internal Affairs division headed by Ari Eldon, better known in-game as Arkanon, whose responsibility is to monitor the activities of both privileged and player accounts operated by CCP staff in-game. The impartiality of this division remains disputed.[77][78] Modeled on this division, CCP has instated the Council of Stellar Management (CSM). -------------------------------------------------------- You see this developer misconduct with the infamous t20 name. Then you see the player who helped finding out this name is banned for stupid reasons. Before you join EvE, you start to question the fairness in this game. You also start to question the quality of the company CCP and how desperate they are to keep an employee that gave them bad image, bad advertisement and bad reputation overall. Yes I know. After all those years this bulls.h.i.t is still coming up again and again. But this is inevitable, in brand management one mistake may not be cleaned unless you take proper action and show public that you are mean and serious company. t20 incident simply made CCP weak in brand image, public image and quality. It will never fade away unless they change his name or kick him.
However I am not that merciless and I believe in second chances in real life too. But when it is about brand management, you have no choice. What I would do is to just change the nickname of t20 if you really want to keep him in the company. As long as people see t20 name, this bull.s.h.i.t. will keep coming and coming.
CCP might be good graphic designers but they absolutely suck at administration, brand management and programming.
To t20, if you had some honor which I believe you don't. You would resign or change your name at least. You don't know how much damage you did and still do to this company.
Of course now all your BOB friends will defend you in this thread but it's obvious isn't it?

I've still got tons of screenshots of the racist and illegal posts that Goonfleet made during the threadnought. Want me to post those here too?
I'd rather be affiliated with an alliance where one single, individual member benefited from a Sabre BPO than an alliance that actively mocked the death of a RL player with their forum sigs and who launched and in game and out of game smear campaign on the game I love.

I agree with you. However misbehaving is one thing and misconduct is something else. You are a developer, you represent CCP at top level. How top can you go? It's really destructive image for CCP. You don't see any goon racist comments in wikipedia but you see t20 name. That's the point.

Just out of interest, when exactly was the "t20 incident".
Also. what new information has come to light that warrant re-visiting it (did I miss anything).

People just want to bring it back up and keep it alive, as it's the only solid thing they have against BoB

Edited by: Solar Typhon on 03/09/2008 22:38:18 Let it go dude, it's just a game. I'm sure the guy got a *******ing off his boss and some sort of warning and all the rest of the crap that you get when you get in trouble at work.
I don't think the guy deserves to lose his job after one mistake, if he did it again then thats another thing, but I reckon the punishment of having all the geeks of eve *****ing about him for all time, as well as the incident sitting his employment record for as long as he works at CCP is enough.
Anyway, if you don't like it.....just quit in protest like the other fella on CAOD rather than bring up this rubbish again.

Edited by: *****ia on 03/09/2008 22:39:41 Ah ffs. I'm very sorry you've got butt hurt over something that took place over a year ago. You'll be hard-pressed to find an MMO in the market that hasn't had a couple of major blemishes in it's history.
The sad reality of this constant whining by you crybabies is that even if T20 left, you wouldn't quit your *****ing until BoB dissolves. For christ's sake, harden the feck up or hand in your mancard and quit the game. I'm very sorry you're feeling so inadequate and lacking confidence to the point that you made this crap thread.
Please take a vacation from EVE. Perhaps you'll realize that its not worth posting about in such lurid detail, having stooped to the level of dredging wikipedia for stuff to complain about.

Hi, I'm not a BOB fan.
But I'm smart enough to understand T20 is not the reason BOB is what they were a few months ago.
I'm pretty sure everyone consider the personal work you've put into your own alliance to be much more important than the actions of a few lonely players who use the same alliance tag than you took. Don't speak english. F1,f2,f3... |
