OMG! Ekrid got caught trying to use an alt to agree with his main and now he's trying to downplay it by making it seem like he meant to agree with himself ALL ALONG! AHAHAHAH!

Originally by: Crumplecorn Accusations of being an idiot should not be directed at Ekrid, for fear of being proven wrong.
I submit in evidence the following: A thread in which the accused posted a long convoluted OP so devoid of any single point that it left all that read and responded in a state of confusion. Due in no small part to this confusion (I hope), Ekrid has successfully posted in this thread a subsequent five or so times agreeing with himself, and yet I have yet to see an accusation of him being the obvious troll he is.
Thusly, having so misdirected the forum populace, I hereby change the designation of this troll from 'obvious' to 'successful', and declare this thread Made of Win.
And that's how we all learned a valuable lesson!

This really doesn't look like a troll attempt, while it is one it looks more like the op might be convoluted enough to believe what hes saying. How can you honestly bash solo players, you know one of the major selling points of most games is tactics and strategy. The more people you add the more lag and less tactics and strategy you get aside from everyone be 'here' and shoot 'this'. A solo player might seem like a really strong NPC for that group to shoot at but to the solo player that group might look like a mob of robots also considering they all act exactly the same and shout out typical things like an NPC would be programmed to. Also your facts about MMO's in general are not facts they are your opinion.

In response to this I would like to submit for consideration by the jury the second article of evidence:
Linkage
Another thread in which the defendant created a thread and then responded to his own OP supporting himself, proving beyond reasonable doubt that he is in fact doing this intentionally and is thus a troll rather than an idiot.
The defence rests. -

I don't think it is useful to break eve players down into those that play with others and those that don't.
Clearly there must be something that makes people want to spend monthly fees to play a game. It could be that:
They choose only to play sociably with people they know They have different characters who they use to play with when they are feeling more or less sociable They may be playing parts of the game that are only indirectly or more subtly affected by other players (e.g. playing the markets, where you never have face to face contact)
But I'll let you in on a secret. People play games by and large to learn. MMO's have the greatest scope of any game (at least computer game) and thus allow the most opporunities to learn about different things in a single package
You get to learn social interaction blowing people up or forming a corp. Business accumen by competing in the markets with others
The only other reason to play a game like Eve is to do something mindless and repetitive at the end of the working day. A bit like sitting in front of the TV, you might learn something but more likely it is just some background noise whilst your brain marshalls all the stuff it has been doing during the day

Originally by: Ekrid the majority of people are so zombified that they can't even come up with a goal for themselves in the game. Maybe they fear looking silly, or that the goal itself is worthless, but if you're playing a video game or even real sports, congratulate yourself on having already done this.
You'll find people IRL are remarkably unambitious. Not everyone wants to be master of the universe.
I just graduated this summer, and the number of fellow students of mine who aged 21+ still had no idea what to do with their lives was enormous. I don't think it is fair to call them zombies if they don't necessarily understand consciously why they play Eve, even if we can try to understand subconsciously (as I put in my above reply)
Edit: It might be the op can't get his head around the fact not everyone can see the posibilities of the multiplayer aspects of the game he can, or cannot fathom why they don't want to take those opportunities

wow, you put so many people in so many pigeon holes, i though the age of discrimination is going away, apparently not for some..
MMO's while being multiple player games are made up of multiple player people's interests. Hence whoever joins and enjoys a game has a valid point in playing the game - i.e. enjoyment. Hence your ridiculous and idiotic attempt to classify people as some nerds crawling down basements or wise people teaming up for a greater future, is very limited and does not speak well of you in general (ofc if you did not copy all that stuff from somewhere else), in which case you are the one that needs to get a life..
I pay for EvE because sometimes it's the way i choose to spend my time as a form of entertainment, not much different than watching TV, going to the movies or going out for a drink with friends. It's actually much cheaper form of entertainment than the rest :)
so there, i hope you can now write a slightly more informed and not so incredibly limited and shallow paper for your school's project on MMOs or a social experiment.. or whatever the hell you posted this topic for..
