Is the skill worth my time training for, what the point of it where do I find things and what module do I use?

If you plan to do exploration in 0.0 and find Magnetometric sites, yes, training Archaeology is worth it. ---

Negatory. Well, technically there are a few containers in a few of the COSMOS complexes that require Analyzer I's (and thus Archaeology) to open, but the only place you'll really see containers requiring Archaeology to open are in Magnetometric exploration complexes. ---

I have never found much data about archeological finds. So can someone enlighten me about the worth of it. I mean can certain stuff be worth a ton or just spare change?

you generally find salvage, sometimes t2 salvage, and some faction blueprints, usually pos structures... not really much more...
i heard of people that occasionally find a faction ship bpc, but that's very rare, i did lots of magnetometric sites in NPC 0.0, found mostly useless stuff...
Do not try and find the signature... that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth... There is no signature. |

The Dev's have also stated that Tech III will require a specialist ship to recover archaeology from sites for building so not now but within the next few expansions!!!

There are a few COSMOS mission sites that have caskets in them, both types; the ones that need analyzers and the ones that need a codebreaker.
But yeah, the largest part would be in explored sites.

So if I'm a high-sec-loving carebear, I don't want to learn Archeology, since it won't be of any use to me?
What about Hacking? Is that the same?
Is there a specific skill for the gas mining thing that I've heard you can do in some Exploration sites? Is is that skill useful if you're a high-sec-loving carebear?

Hacking is the same, aside from just a few Empire Cosmos Missions, where I believe they are a requirement, there is no use for Archaeology and Hacking in Highsec.
About Gas-Mining, even in 0.0 it is rare because there are only a few constellations where Gas Clouds can be found and you also need specific skills and equipment.
There is also the possibility to manufacture Synthetic Boosters from Low-Sec Gas Clouds, but I know no one personally that does this thing. Again, nothing for you, if you do not want to leave Highsec.

The only reason to train Arch in highsec is if you want to do COSMOS missions that require analyzers.
Hacking II however, is a prereq for Invention as well as COSMOS.
