Anyone of the newer guys want to know how the PvP of the early EVE was..
Looked something like this
That was Stain Alliance vs. Curse Alliance, those were the BIG fights in EVE in those days.. Man I miss 2004. 
(to mods, not my video, jsut want to show the new guys because most of them have never bothered looking for older videos)

what were the pink and blue tabs?
also while it might work better that UI looks better.

Yeah, I was watching all the trailers the other day, and was a bit curious about how the old interface worked myself.
btw CCP can we please (pretty please with a pint on top?) get another trailer like Eve Never Fades? Sure it's almost four years old but it still kicks more ass than any of the super high resolution HD newer ones

I blame the nessasary but distasteful Steam marketing fluff. To get the capitol to make the servers able to handle the needs of the leet 20% requires a copius investment of $$$ and dumbed down empire game mechanics to let the mindless 80% pay thier monthly sub for teh greater good.

I think that was the 'states' column, the little bars told you friendly's/hostiles/shooting at you etc. I might be remembering that wrong though.

Id love to learn some things about the evolution of EVE.
When i started, there was no HEAT, less ships, no API key (i think so about that!).
There where no scripts (tracking comps and sensor booster ruled...), and i lived enough to see the previous nano-nerf (nanofibers were giving both speed and mass reduction!)AAh, there where no rigs either. I also witness the HP buff... (+25% to +50% to all ships). Capitals where very rare also. I think titans didnt existed, but i was too noob to understand what was going on with cap warfare.
I ve heard there were times when you could fit multiple MWDs, or times that there wasnt the tracking attribute in use!
Can we learn more about that...?

That was the states column.
Blue meant good standing to you,
"pink" is actualy purple, and means player is in your gang
yellow means low standings
There were other states. It was better than nothing but could have been bettter. Well the overview is strictly better.
Only part of that UI I miss is the spinny radar graphic you see on the overview he has.
Remember that the blue circle health UI didnt show structure, so people would hit full red and then just sit there for a bit while you shot them, then finally explode.

I'm guessing the writer wasn't English.
That UI is before my time though. I joined at the end of Exodus / Cold War, (Got RMR during my 2 week trial). Interesting to see how it worked, and loved teh targeted icons.
Why do the old times seem better in our mind's eye?

I want that circular bar back. Give it three rings.
Blue, uncovers white. [Shield revealing armour]
White, uncovers red. [Armour revealing structure]
Red, uncovers black. [Structure being blasted to bits]

You have to know the old UI to understand just how much of an improvment the Overview has been for tactical awareness.

Well the old UI looks nice except for one thing. You have to press a button to change between High, Med and low slot. And that kinda sucks ass.

You should look up the old zelota videos. They have some proper solo pvp in them.

Wow, a 2:1 fight and some dirt easy ganks and somebody felt amazed about their own "superiority".
In fact this video tells me that not much has changed among the "PvP community" since then.
