Thats like sayin "If you destroy the world and everything in it, im going to kill you!" Also, Im not preachy and dont like to get into politics, world affairs etc but, some things about this just makes me think about some lyrics from Serj Tankian. "We are the cause of a world thats gone wrong" True, and stuff like this LHC just back that up, all these different oppinions as to what the risk is and they are going ahead with it anyways, in the name of science. I read somewhere that the threat of anything happening was "minimal", WTF, that makes it ok then. Theres minimal chance of permanent brain damage when I whack this plank of wood over your head, so everythings just jolly then.

People are blasted everyday about how they are destroying the planet, just by eating some bacon for breakfast, turning on their lights or starting their car. A large amount of people have been told, that there is a consensus among scientists that the combustion engine, a product of scientists and engineers, is primarily responsible for global warming. Then, come along news reports of some scientists doing these experiments. And in every news report is a line containing "some say the collider could create a black hole and destroy the earth," just like almost every temperature or biology related news item that includes a mention of the IPCC reports. The people who have been made to believe that their way of life will end in less than a decade because of global warming start going over the top. If only CERN put up some solar panels and declared that the collider was solar powered, these threats would have been praises. The aim of politics is to keep the populace alarmed and clamorous to be saved by menacing it with imaginary hobgoblins. The urge to save humanity is a false front for the urge to rule it.

We would probably realize what we have done, and have anywhere from a few weeks to a few months (maybe even a few years!) to realize we wiped out our race for a science experiment Thats for the things we have thought of. Im far more concerned over possible things we have not thought of. If the universe wanted to destroy us, i bet it would wait to let us do it for the sake of humor if it realize we would be building some sort of massive planet killing death device pointed right at us eventually.
