I like the ideas posted by the OP, maybe Chronotis can take a look at this thread?

I'll be reformating the initial posts to get a 'summary' in there and start some commentary again.
The idea isn't bad (if you can find it) but the format isn't good at this time.

I really like this idea. I'm gonna give it a /signed, and put in my two cents as well on how to improve it a bit.
It needs a bit more of a downside - yes, there is a lot to set up and tear down after the op, and yes, there is a lot of overhead in the way of ship costs and manpower, however for major alliances, it doesn't really hurt them.
Firstly, I'd like to see more than one focusing mirror needed to overlap on any one roid to make it "molten" If anything, this has a fluffy reason.
Secondly, I'm thinking that the mining modules should possibly require fuel - not a lot to make it expensive, but enough to complicate the logistics of things, and make it less appealing for alliances.
Third, I think that the ore-mining fighters are over the top. The carrier is also over the top. I think you got a little out of hand with that one. Keep the actual miners closer to the ORE exhumer counterparts.
Finally, as one more one-time ISK sink, the mirrors and ships need to be constructed out of t2 materials, bumping up the cost and increasing the risk of such an operation.
Really love the idea though.

My simpler mining change would do this.
Simply put, your mining change isn't nearly as COOL, and that's what the miners are looking for above all else - something neat that forces them to work together. Some sort of operational puzzle that takes the focus away from simple jetcan mining.
Something that isn't just point, click, and watch your can fill up.

I don't know, I have been mining for a LONG time, and what I'm NOT looking for is just something more complicated. The rorq would have made mining more "cool" and fun, if it was viable to create and run a mobile ninja-mining operation from it. But, with the vulnerability of the deployed mode, and the inadequacies of jump cloanes for true roaming capabilities, it doesn't work that way.
If you want more yield from low-sec ores, to balance the risk/reward a bit, then the illegal 'hydro-mining' i proposed earlier would do that, without adding unneccessary complcation to the game. No one wants to go through all the complicated steps you talk about, while floating in dangerous space, regardless of the income level.

Great idea. I personally like the idea of making the deployable mirror a player flown ship without slots and with a buffer similar to a BC or cruiser - if for no other reason than to force any macrominers easier to suicide gank. "This is not the boot you're looking for." |
