Good to know. Keep us updated please.

Cool, thanks for the response. I've had it too: numerous warnings about "the item is being merged" and "the item is being moved to blahblah". It's good to see that you're aware of the problem and working on it :)

I know, another rant...Not a happy bunny, lag hell over the weekend too...definately got worse since the upgrade. Went to a gate yesterday morning, nobody else around...lagged for 22 seconds...arrgghh...never used to, if it did it was for like 3 seconds at the most..
This message was brought to you by a now angry bunny

Thanks for the reply Oveur.
It is always nice to know that the Devs are reading the boards and paying attention to some of the issues.
I am also glad that you have admitted that there is actually an issue and we are not all imagining that things have been more laggy since the hardware upgrade.
Look forward to the updates on this issue.
As an Amarrian I hope the patch comes asap too

From the 2nd link : Note: If you append the 'B' for byte, make sure you use uppercase because some people use lowercase 'b' to mean bit.
That's the key. There is a difference between "pure definition" and what ppl use. B is byte, b is bit but now always.
The IEEE link is not computer related at all and is not applicable here. Milli is not used and mb is megabyte even if it's more correct to use MB.
Back on topic : I don't like lag. It makes my ship move funny.

Something's gone amiss since the last hardware upgrade. Stations in empire space (with no one around them) take 10-20 seconds to load. I jumped into EC-P8R yesterday and with a measley 10 ships camping, it was a slideshow.
I'm running an Ath 64 with 1 GB of ram on a 3 MB cable modem... --------------

So you guys thought it was a breeze to install the new hardware and get it running 100% after the backup was replaced? Especially with a MS SQL database.
DBA's know better. It's not like using Norton Ghost to replace some drive images.
And anyone who's going into blob wars after these kind of huge patches should know better. ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |

That's true. all the electronics inside are using Gigawatts and Femtoamps.

b should never be byte. Best things would be to stop corrupting standard abbreviations, and to teach people that not everone out there is as careful.
Quote: M is mega Yup. 1024^2 in the computer world.
Depends on who you're talking to. If you're the IEC or a hard drive company, A Megabyte is 10^6 bytes. The best thing would be to get people to start using Mebibytes and all the other nifty binary multiples, but I'm not holding my breath.

hard drive throughput, motherboards, SCSI, Firewire, IDE... anything that stores data needs to move it. some are published in bits, and some in bytes.
MB - Megabyte - 10^6 bytes Mb/Mbit - Megabit - 10^6 bits MiB - Mebibyte - 2^20 bytes Mibit - Mebibit - 2^20 bits mb/mobo - motherboard

Well until the lag settles ive started a second account with a Char rigged for Agent Missions, and doing pirate kills with a Kestrel on 2 Imputors is generating lag, that and leaving ANY station, warping ANYWHERE etc in the Empire makes up for 50% of the time i take to do Agent missions right now....
I cant even begin to imagine chain spawning in 0.0 at this time --------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, a clarification :
Computer (software) : 1024 (in most cases) Computer (hardware) : 1024 or 1000 depending on the hardware

True. I was only thinking network speed when I made that comment...

That's fairly accurate at least - very hardware related though. For software, it'd be 1024^2 bytes (in most cases).
ppl will probably never start using mebibytes and similar... and mb IS used instead of MB in many cases...

No offense but you shouldn't be thinking of 'chaining' anywhere in eve as it is a bannable offense. Chain spawning pirates is an exploit. So says the Devs... From Ashes to Ashes... From Dust to Dust....

I have noticed an almost constant rubber-banding effect when coming out of warp to approach gates as well as stations, constant hiccups when sitting still in space and an extended period of waiting when entering space from a gate or a station. Also, and this just started since the hardware upgrade, the game will time out frequently or just flat out freeze and the screen will go all black. Hitting ESC will show the fuzzy image of my ship wherever it is but will go black again after hitting ESC again.
This all started after the hardware upgrade.

Ok, lets not get the thread closed please, but let me straighten this out for you.
There is a certain bug in the system code that allows for a certain way of killing rats to create a much faster respawn, once a rat dies, it re-spawns instantly...
Normal chaining isnt bannable, but over-chain-spawning (allowing to kill 4000+ per hour is an exploit and you will get a permban for it)
