With CCP wonderful node sharing code even if you do the right thing and go to some deserted place your system can still share its node with some mission hub and you get insane module activation lag while being alone. -- I'm done whining about AFs, it looks like they are making them right \o/ |

Edited by: Gavinat0r on 08/09/2008 12:41:37 There is lag in every single mission hub almost all the time, reason being well its a mission hub and as i have said if the agent quality was affected by ur standings rather then a fixed quality people could branch out from the mission hubs meaning of course less lag.I do feel that it is that simple r just create more lev 4 high qual agents. No need to re write game code buy new equipment just change the way agent quality is affected.

Proof please that they have spent anything on infiniband and are actually "working" on it. All CCP have said is that they intend to use infiniband. No progress has been divulged, and no timeline for implementation has been provided.
Many have asked CCP for some kind of "infiniband status report" for the last several months without a single tangible response.
The "Infiniband Upgrade" is snake oil (vaporware) until CCP can actually disclose some statistics, milestones and etc.
Like the test they ran on a small cluster a couple of months back? You did take part yes? ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

FIX THE LAG.
Your company makes enough money to increase the number of servers you guys have. I am sure you can even increase the out-going bandwidth. Debug the client. FIX THE LAG! Don't release another patch until you do.
One does not simply FIX lag.
But here is what you could do: - Create your own server - Allow create your own client - Make sure players can login to the server, and fly eve-like ships with eve-like attributes and mechanics - Once all eve elements are in, simulate a 300 vs 300 fleet battle - If it lag, just FIX it - If/when you succeed, rewrite the server and client to use the Python Interpreted language. - See if you can FIX lag.
If you succeed, go on and whine. Until then shutup : )

Wrong, I was in 0.0 yesterday and got a lag spike, there were 3 persons in system and no more than 30 in the whole region at that moment (yes, I constantly check map for pilots in system and ship destroyed). I told my domi to warp to next belt and it took like 1 minute to get the "Warp Drive Active" thing.
A corpm8 was in empire running lvl4 and he complained about lag at the same time.

exactly.
furthermore, what kind of crap computers you running, ? whats your connection like?
theres alot more to lag than just CCP, idiots.
playing EVE from Canada I rarely notice any lag, cept for my once a month trip to Jita and the occasional gate lag, but its not that bad.
if you dont like the game flock off.
2, 1 gig 8000 GT's SLIed Dual core 2.4 ghz Asus striker extreme mother board 4 gig corsair dominator ram. Toshiba 1tb hd.
ITS NOT MY COMPUTER.
I've been in fleet with 100's of drones and fighters all pounding a POS with almost no lag.
Once enemies jump in, it lags to hell, and when ccp gives you that 'loading' message you KNOW its not your damn system.
For the love of Jebus, quit blaming players for a CCP issue, we know it, they said they were fixing it for 3 years, they haven't fixed bupkiss, all while making the blob more important than ever in 0.0 sovereignty fights.
And I didn't like it and I flocked off, this account expires in 5 days.
Enjoy your new carebear experiance where CCP plans on holding players attention spans for 7 months.

Got a linky? This is the first time I have heard of any actual tests involving CCP's "infiniband upgrade", and would have been a part of it if I had known about it, assuming it actually happened.

Plz feed the hamsters inside CCP supercomputers, they are slowing down.
Luckily for CCP there isn't really a competitor in the genre just yet otherwise you'd see an exodus. It's only a matter of time until there is another game out there.
LAG = NO GROWTH NO GROWTH = NO extra $$$$ for development, expansions No new content = DEATH of MMO

Well, actually if he can do that, then I'd say he'd be well placed to open a competing MMO. A world where all the things he disagrees with, can be changed. However I'd also be of the opinion that this is unlikely to happen - there are many game companies out there that I'm quite sure would love a piece of CCPs action. The fact that there has yet to be a credible alternative to EVE, suggests that it's far from as easy as it looks.

yes exactly. Sharing a node with a system with 10 people in it means nothing. With a system with 100 people in....
