Alright, I've seen lots of comments and "guides" on this one but it's still muddled for me. Here's what I know (or think I know):
1. You will get a storyline mission after running a certain number of regular missions. 2. I'm told that 16 is the magic number but I've seen missions offered in as little at 6 and as many as 22.
LOL, OK not a lot that I know. Here are my questions:
1. Does the counter run only if the missions are run for the same AGENT, the same CORP, or the same FACTION? 2. If I change and run a mission for someone else other than the answer to number one does the counter reset for the number one storyline or pick-up where it left off when I return to it? 3. Does using an R&D agent affect the counter? 4. What is the real number of missions that need to be run to get the storyline? 5. Where is the "counter" stored? On the server or on the local computer (i.e., if I run on more than one computer does it matter?)
If anyone knows of a good and extensive guide for this please point me to it.
Thanks.

1) Same Faction and same level: ie there are 5 counters per faction
2) The counters are completely seperate and are not reset
3) Yes, R&D missions count
4) 16 missions
5 Server side: just like anything else that affects the outcome of the game.

I run a fair number of missions targeting storyline agents, this has been my experance:
1) The counter runs as you do missions for the same CORP at the same mission LEVEL. You can change from agent to agent so long as you stick to the same CORP and LEVEL.
2) It's 16 missions on the nose every time. You could easily have the number APPEAR to be diffrent if your changeing agents with diffrent levels. (that would explain it taking you 22 missions) As for only taking you 6 missions.. if you do 10 missions for a corp at level II a year ago, then do 20 some level III missions for the same corp.. then go back 2 months later and do 6 level II missions.. well that would explain it. It's 16 missions on the nose for same corp and same mission level.
3) No. Using R&D agaents don't effect storyline missions at all.
4) 16
5) Counter is storied in a database on the eve server, it keeps track of every mission you do, for what agent, corp, faction and level etc. As I mentioned above. If you did 14 level II missions for Caldari Navy 3 years ago.. do a whole bunch of missoins for everyone else.. then come back and do 2 more level II missions for Caldari Navy.. you will get a storyline.
No guides around that I know of.
Hope this helps ya, JŚ

how extensive could a guide possibly be on the topic "Storyline Missions"?
"Storyline missions: After every 16 regular missions completed you will be offered a storyline mission. These will be one of the regular mission types but will differ by having a great impact on your faction as well as corporation standing. The initial 16 missions can be completed for any agent, as long as those agents are aligned with the same faction and are at the same level as each other. The number of missions is not altered or reset by rejecting or failing an accepted mission." My experience is:
The answers of Scoutette are perfectly correct. The answers of JSquared on question 1 and 3 are definitely wrong. Correct is: The counter runs per faction and not per corp. Missions for R&D agents count like other regular missions.
(I check the counters since some time in my ingame notepad to have control over the storyline agents I will pick after mission 16. So I am relatively sure about the counter mechanics.)

Thanks for the answers. I seemed to be getting a storyline in my former location (Genesis) after every 13 for some reason.
As to the guide, I suppose it could have addressed the questions I had (and I should have made clear I was talking about a mission running guide in general that addresses things like how to select agents, types of missions, and things like that that I've had to learn in dribs and drabs. It wouldn't have to be very long I suppose.)
Yeah, the one I got after 6 probably was because I'd run some for that agent a few months back before my move to Genesis and my subsequent return to my former home.

There are an extensive number of links in the first sticky post of this forum where you can find tons of information and a couple actual guides.

Except for one thing: There are only four counters per faction. There are no Level 5 Storyline agents. (At least, there weren't before the Empyrean Age 1.1 patch. Has that changed?) |
