If any of you were concerned with The Wis you would have taken it up privately with CCP and The Wis. By smearing his private life across the public stage you are exposing The Wis to far more abuse then The Mittani and goonswarm EVER did. Sure, Mittani may have already smeared it infront of a FANFEST camera, who's audience is pretty much purely Eve players. But what the rest of you have done is taken it MUCH further. You've now taken it onto every news site, twitter account, and facebook page you can find.
You all say its hurting the game's reputation? You're the ones who smeared it across every news site you could find. CCP would have handled the situation in private where they could show The Wis the dignity he deserved.
You have now started to search for ways to deliberately abuse CCP's industry relationships. If the abuse of the Wis isnt enough, many of you are now in violation of the EULA by deliberately damaging CCP's business in order to further your selfish in-game goals.
Anyone deliberately dragging CCP's name through the gutter in order to accomplish their in-game goals should be held equally accountable for their violations of the EULA.
Wait if im not mistaken wasn't it the Mittani that bragged about running to media outlets during INCARNA MONOCLE GATE. And putting pressure on CCP?
So whats good for the goose is not in fact good for the gander?
Just wondering if anyone knows what double standards are?

Meanwhile rational thinkers can see beyond the bullshit and discover that there is actually no problem. Mittens did a dumb thing while drunk, realised what he did and wrote a heartfelt apology (along with giving him all the money in his character's wallet). The Wis didn't even realise that this happened until someone in-game pointed it out, and even then he (Wis) remained completely indifferent about the incident.
(By the way, this probably should have gone in the apology thread to avoid further clogging of GD with topics about this)
Rational thinkers see a dangerous precedent that can be set if the right actions are not taken. A slap on the wrist is not acceptable in this case.

Anyone deliberately dragging CCP's name through the gutter in order to accomplish their in-game goals should be held equally accountable for their violations of the EULA. To be fair...do you honestly think that the goons wouldn't be doing the same thing to get rid of an enemy alliance leader given the opportunity? They're not exactly known for having any sort of boundaries when it comes to metagaming. I have no reason to believe they wouldn't. And then we'd see a bunch of "pubbies" complaining how it's hurting EvE and a bunch of goons saying, "Cry me a river." It's a little hypocritical but then again, it's to be expected a bit too. **** off the whole world and the world isn't exactly motivated to come to your defense. It's like the child-raping, drug dealing murderer suddenly taking a stance for civil rights. Sure, rights may have been violated but such people don't make good defendants for that kind of thing. The Mittani may make a great villain. Alex may make a good CSM member and chair. The game wouldn't be the same without the goons. But you know... So yeah, I sort of agree with you. This kind of meta-gaming should be off-limits. But, well....that's EvE...and this is exactly the kind of game the goons like to play. I can't really bring myself to feel to sorry for them about it, and I'm sure they'll survive.
Should be off limits but the Goons lead the way to where we are today. They are just mad the shoe is on the other foot.
Their Damage control II is not working very well either. |

I am not affected by any of those things, just like a lot of the people who are posting about this. Speculate all you want about the people who are pissed off about this, but this bad attempt at profiling doesn't change anything. Something must be done to reprimand him and everyone who would do something like what the mittani did. If you are so concerned about the wis have you send him a message to see if he is ok? No? Didnt think so
Thats because it wasnt about him. It was about the implications Alexs actions could have had and the very real threat of violence saying push someone to IRL death means. It could have been anyone. But the real Alex came out and thats what people dont like.
A simple apology is not acceptable in this case as he was sanctioning the real life death of another human being by his comments. Especially when it comes to the goon mentality its believable they would have done just what he said and laughed about it up until they pushed someone over the edge.
The irresponsible and dangerous and malicious nature of what he did must be dealt with harshly.

Sentinel Smith wrote:Indeed, there are a scary number of people who say Mittens is harming Eve, thus we need to make sure EVERY site talks about how bad Eve is because of him.
It's depressing really. The people ranting and posting on every single site they can find have done 10x the damage The Mittani's comments ever did.
I'm seeing several sites where the same people are posing on sites bringing it up.. The more bad press they make, the more they get to say "See, here's all the bad press he caused.."
Not saying I support Mittani.. Not defending his actions.. But really there is a large number of people in the community who need to take a look in the mirror at themselves, and their motivations.
That's also not to paint everyone who is upset at this with the same brush either, a lot have honest issues and no motivations beyond that.. but there are far far too many who do.. and they are doing their best to see that CCP and Eve gets as much bad press as it can because they have some hate for the man, his alliance, or his positions.
Oh lord, tinfoil hats for everyone.

We are mad at mittani for saying to a player go kill yourself! But no! This isn't about the guy with the mental health problems at all!
It is and It isnt. Its not about the specific person, but about all persons that might be in a similar situation now or later.
Hundreds at the event, thousands watching. And the well known goon mob mentality = gas on a fire and a high likely hood of a real person being killed as a result.
And the goons in threads are only reinforcing the sociopath stereotype everyone has of this game.

You realize that on the first page of this very forum there's a thread of someone looking for a Sony rep's twitter info so they can do exactly that, right? This isn't conspiracy, this is "**** that is actually happening right now".
Yeah, cause he cant type SONY into google or twitter?
Try not falling for obvious troll bait next time.

Exactly, because it's about the mittani and the crap his actions are bringing down on the game. That guy is just an innocent bystander who took a pie in the face. Well seeing how the guy was most likely lying also about being suicidal...cause I know for damn sure when a person says that they are going to kill themselves they are past the point of no return or just looking for sympathy
"i thought he was just pretending officer" " I didnt think he was really suicidle when i pushed him to kill himself"
Do you see why him telling the truth or not is besides the point of the issue people are talking about yet.
If not him what about the next person? How do you measure if a person is or is not prone to suicide?
There isnt a leg to stand on here. |

You do know the incident that the mittani was talking about was in the ice interdiction goons did.
It was not a couple of days ago. |

You've now taken it onto every news site, twitter account, and facebook page you can find. I bolded a part where I believe you may be wrong. I read somewhere that several hundred thousand PS3 players also watched the fanfest feed. That being said, I agree with you. This may turn out badly for The Mittani but our community has taken a hit in this scandal. CCP doesn't need any bad publicity right now as it claws its way back from last year's debacle and readies itself to release DUST. I hope this blows over quickly.
Oh thats bad, I had thought this was mostly still in the eve circle. I forgot about the PS3 stream. Some of those guys might not be EvE players. Thats not good. Might explain some things i was reading on some game sites. |
