I find it absurd that some people say, "hey people relax, its a game and it is a well know fact that bugs happen in patches so just deal with it and let it get sorted out" It's pure BULL! When I was a beta tester I was informed by some of the Devs that this game was different than any game to date, especially in the way marketing would be handled. That the American way to just bum rush a half finished product out to please the masses would in fact not be done, that every step possible would be taken to insure that a patch / fix would be of the highest caliber and not such as to cause the company to lose face, nor the loss of the paying publics faith in them.
To date I had to pay $50 USD to get the CD Key to activate the beta & updgrade to play the retail version, for a $9.95 per month fee to play online. So far so good ..... I knew this up front. Since then I have been forced to endure a minimum of 40+ hours each month in downtime plus unexpected reboots and other events that would take away from my being able to play, again I let these things slide.
The moment that CCP sees that the value of the Euro is being inflated over that of the American dollar, they immediatly jump to raise fees to keep their profits up and trying to force me to "pay in advance" to continue the ability to have the reduced fee that I had started out with. A nice thing would have been to have "grandfathered" the beta testers to the original fee, once again I have my feathers ruffled but I let it slide.
I wasn't even aware of the price hike since the half assed way of informing players ingame, it would have been alot nicer and professional to have sent out advance notices to each customers logged email address of said price hikes ... alot better than finding out when I get my CC bill and see they raised it and "took" the money, but I let that slide ........... Now the last 2 days have left me very little faith to play this at all because I have to spend so much time to research what errors still exist after the "hotfix" and try to learn just what was nerfed and what was tweaked ..... only to find that there are several areas that are cause for concern still tonight.
So for me to just relax and just let these fellas go without a word of complaint isn't realistic at all. After spending approx $220 cash and investing another 560+ hours of lost time due to downtimes and reboots I think its time for CCP to start handling thigs better and taking the customers less for granted. My God! no less than 560 hours of lost time due to the fact that they haven't figured out how to correct this issue, thats more than 23 days! Maybe I wouldn't be this bitter on it had the betas been given any breaks along the way ..... but the only break I have seen since this quest has started is a lousy days credit this past week worth approx $0.48 ..... Wow, I'm gonna take this and use it to pay for my trip to Bermuda !
As badly as I thought I was treated in other game betas ....... I only had to buy the game, then deal with a patch or two to get it right. In EVE I'm expected at each patch to basically relearn the entire balance setup of this game, only to find that the next patch will change the entire game dynamics all over again, changeing the rules and forcing ewveryone to learn again how to play the game. So before any of you people get sanctimonious and condecending about people making a issue to management on the way things are being handled, and the way some of us feel mis-treated, please get a life and realise this ...... ... as long as we are paying "our" way and paying "their" bills that we have a right to make these thoughts known without you nay-sayers butting your noses in.
I have said what I have come to say ......
Stands up and claps, very well spoken I agree 100% with everything you have said.
