I'm pretty sure i'm not the only person who is suffering from the plague that is, no avatars. There are the odd 1/2 times every couple of days an avatar renders, but then nada, its like the imageserver isnt sending out info, as my browser (FF3.0.1) is constantly waiting on it transferring data from (Insert Destination)
Any official word on whats going on? or a thread already talkin bout whats up, as this has been happening for me for about a week or two, and surprisingly makes it a bit harder to tell who is posting what... (I'm a faces person, not a names person)

I dunno, but it makes the forums so hard to read
does that mean I read the forums way to much that I go by character portrait/sig and not the character name 
everyone with the gun slinger sig I swear is Liang, then I look at the name/content of post and say ooops.

What kind of sad reflection of your life is it when a simple avatar image on the forums makes you feel so lonely and empty inside. Seriously, it is only a freaking image. You people crack me up. Clearly fixing this is 10x more important than fixing lag to you. BTW OP take the time to actually look through the forums before just firing off a new thread, because you are not the first (and with the level of competence here surely will not be the last) to notice this.

- The guy that maintains the image server clearly has to burn all plans to implement infiniband in order to fix this. And will cease to exist once the images are fixed.
- Your decision to whine on a thread that you clearly have no interest in makes you a big person.

I have a solution for that. However I suggest only using this if you know what you are doing.
The solution is to redirect the host "img.eve.is" to the avatar cache on EVE-Search. All avatar requests will then be sent to EVE-Search instead of CCP's server. And should display avatars properly.
Edit your hosts file and add the following to redirect the requests:
82.99.13.4 img.eve.is
Once again, you're doing this on your own responsibility and I suggest doing this only if you know how to do it
And PS, I can't guarantee that I will not sometime in the future at random or not random times replace all avatars with Veldspar icons

Hubris can be a terrible thing. You might know where to find the hosts file but you can't spell 'queue'

This is funniest because, however Sleepk spelled queue the first time, Andrue corrects the spelling of queue while neglecting to mention that in that sentence the correct word is cue, not queue.
