So this whole flamewar over MittaniGate can go one of two ways.
Either the causehoars will cry so loudly that CCP and Sony's relationship may be damaged, EVE will suffer, and DUST will be a flop; OR, we use the upswing of anti-Goon fervor to generate legitimate and engaging In-Game RP, create an awesome PR moment for CCP, and show DUST players why EVE is the champion of bad***ery and emergent gameplay.
In the spirit of "EVE is Real," I say we take the hate into space, and take the fight from the forums to the Goons themselves. So what if they have the single largest armada in EVE, that just makes the achievement all the more worth it. Britain had the world's greatest army and navy, and yet a ragtag bunch of colonists kicked the tea and crumpets outta 'em. Maybe New Eden could take a few lessons from that.
So join me. Join the Anti-Swarm. From many, one; one goal, many approaches. Let the fight begin!
[Also, screw off all y'all RP haters, especially you goonie RP haters, this is the best reason for FW I've ever seen in a game] |

Sorry there were real life implications to what happened.
This is not something to be brushed of as a GAME thing.

No, there weren't. As someone who has battled with depression and suicide, what was said is not acceptable coming from a political position of power; however, the player in question did not actually take his life (thank whatever deity you believe in, life is precious no matter what). Thus, we are left with a potential PR disaster. Why not use it for the good of the game? Who loses but Goonswarm? (Even then, that's debatable. Goons need us pubbies to grief.)
EDIT: Also, I'm sick of talking about this bull****. I'm just trying to have fun blowing up spaceships. You can get pissy if you want, Goons, but it won't stop me from having fun at your expense. |

It isn't a flame war. Mitt clearly violated the terms he agreed to when becoming a member of the CSM. Maybe he should have taken such incidentals more seriously. Maybe he applies to real life the same wanton disregard he applies to this game. Whichever the case, he agreed. He violated said agreement.
It is now a matter of CCP enforcing the terms of this agreement, as they do to us with the EULA and TOS.
It isn't clear, regardless of CCP's cosmetic move to "investigate" the matter, whether CCP is clear from civil or even criminal liability. To keep Mitt is to sanction Mitt. I doubt CCP's legal beagles think he's that important to the bottom line. (They could be the only people considering this that aren't certifiably delusional!)
These posts, rapt with the idea some show of hands by EVE players has any standing in this situation just prove how out of touch the wizards of New Eden are with the world they actually live in.

To OP, agree with you. It is a matter between Mittani, CSM, CCP and the victim if he feels as such. For myself, I am partaking in discussions because I love what eve offers and don't like the negative PR that has come of it. Hopefully intellectual discussion can cause some non negative PR, and proper actions by the involved parties has eve shown in a serious light. It does bring more to the forefront just how engrained the eve image is however. Many gamer sites putting it up, and the most noticable comment is only how that is to be expected of eve. Time for a PR show.
You know, that might be something. They have mass tests, but eve really needs a demo of what it's really all about. Would be awesome if ccp did a backup mirror, had everybody gather on sisi for just one all out burn the servers down brawl, just to see what it can do. No mass test server log, just mirror it, everybody blows up, then restore mirror since supercaps aren't seeded. Probably relieve alot of the rabble stress to have just one no concequence all out brawl. |

You made me almost pee with laughter. Funny does not begin to describe the misdirection your bringing to the discussion. Nowhere in this thread have I attempted to "go on with this" (this being MittaniGate), yet you, a Goon, decided to come in here on your high horse and tell me to tell him something nice instead of posting pointless ****.
You pretty much just prove my point. You Goons provide the best ingame reason to do FW. I don't want to fight the Minmatar Republic, I want to crush the Goonswarm. Lets take this forum-war into EVE, and make some good PR for the game WE ALL LOVE TO PLAY. That IS why your posting here, right?

EVE is better than that. We don't need a large scale alliance, we just need the Anti-Swarm. Simple objective: cause damage to the Goonswarm whenever possible. You can do it solo, you can do it in a 1000 man PL fleet. Either way, lets grief the griefers. I mean, why not? By doing so you validate the idea, that bullying, coaxing for tears, pointing and laughing when someone is upset, and public humiliation of them on Fanfest are on the same level of "the game" as is making spaceships explode.
Whether doing so is a bad thing can be a matter of debate. Personally I would be hesitant. I value sportsmanship about pixelated explosions; however I do not value bullying those who are unable to show it when they lose. I would rather not reward the bullies by deliberately, out of my own initiative, giving them fun explosions. But whatever you think about it, before making any decisions you should realize that playing their game means accepting it as valid. |

Hate me all you want. I only care about EVE being a great game. And yes, the Anti-Swarm plays into the GSF playstyle, but hey, isn't that better than whining? At least we might generate some good PR to counter all the bad PR from this debacle.
My one man corp is due more to a lack of desire to pay an NPC corp 10% in taxes. Yeah, I am a carebear, but only because to PVP means to sit in a blob and stare at colored squares, since there is no small gang warfare pretty much anywhere.
Hijack my thread, hate on me, do whatever you want Goons. Your time has come, whether it is the Anti-Swarm or some other action taken against you. You didn't think you would ALWAYS be top dog, did you? Hubris has a price.
That said, I'm sick of Roadhouse's continued under-appreciation by today's youth. There is nothing quite like a roundhouse kick to the face. |

Apologies are not a ritual, they might be to those that are insincere and an insincere apology is meaningless.
People can judge (rightly or wrongly) if a person's apology is sincere or not based on the known actions and character of the person giving the apology. Which is why a lot of people don't see the apology from The Mittani as being sincere. |

And that would achieve what exactly? The apology is out of character and what he was posting before the apology tends to back that up. He weakened his apology even before he made it. Will you forgive him if he sings Little Bees on comms? He's resigning from the CSM, I personally think that is adequate but it's not up to me it's up to CCP. After all CCP are an injured party in all of this fiasco.

Frankly, the only thing that wants to make me kill myself here is your terrible posting. Can we all just move on from this onto more important things, like Roadhouse? |

We are talking about 1 isolated incident, or do you know of many others? I'm not going to take the theoretical moral highground, I'll just judge the individual case. But the decision on what happens is not mine to make, although I can express an opinion which I've done. |

Apparently there is at least one other suicide where people believe EVE was a determining factor...
There may be countless others that never made the EVE 'political scene'
Others may occcur in the future
This threat to life is immediate and continuing to my mind and needs to be addresed ASAP |

No, it's the one where Patrick Swayze is a wandering bouncer who cleans up a bar then he cleans up the whole town. It's very exciting.
Also I meant he cleans up crime, not trash. Not that I'm against the environment but Patrick Swayze cleaning up trash just wouldn't be as exciting. |

So you read on some random website that he's resigning and you believe it. Good for you I guess. "My rule is: If you meet the weakest vessel, attack; if it is a vessel equal to yours, attack; and if it is stronger than yours, also attack..." - Admiral Stepan O. Makarov |

No, I don't read other forums, usually they get a distorted view.
It was on these forums, Goons don't lie in RL do they? |

Akai Kvaesir wrote:Why is it so hard to see the potential good the PR campaign on this could be? "Players across EVE rise up to defeat the evil Goonswarm Empire"...Makes "EVE is Real" seem like a kiddie pool.
EDIT: Also, I agree that there are WAYYYYYYYYYYY too many ways this could go badly. Why not embrace one way that might go right? This is how it's done, right? I'm sure the Goons would welcome a serious challenge to their primacy. They may not even have a primacy anyway. It may just be a matter of winning since no one else showed up to play. What Mitt did with that organization isn't the same as what BoB did to gain their supremacy. That BoB was taken down so easily was the result of a fool's guess that in all likelihood BoB's membership had lost interest in the game, and were just a blue shell on a map. That Mitt so easily infiltrated it smacks more of ennui than super-spying.
That being the case, a solid organization hasn't sprung up since then. There are four, maybe five groups that are equal to one another, quite possibly in flaws as well as strengths. So, it's wide open. Whomever puts together a solid organization has the win before the game begins. No amount of rushed stop-gap measures could withstand such an onslaught. They know it. It's possible they (virtually) fear it. Lord knows, Mitt's leadership style hasn't engendered the sort of loyalty that will hold under pressure.
That's EVE. Possibilities...likelihoods and probabilities? We'll see, won't we?

Most of the outraged idiots on these forums haven't even seen the video. A few members of my alliance came on last night, saying that they found it funny, but there were lines you shouldn't cross yada yada yada.
I showed them the video, and made them watch Mittani's speech. They thought I was showing them an edited version.
Moral of story: Save your moral outrage until you've actually seen the video, some of the idiots/alt armies on these forums are just exaggerating and outright lying to try and serve their petty little agenda.

I love this game. Thats why I am suggesting taking down the Goons. Will it work? Probably not. Will spaceships explode? most certainly. But that doesn't make it any less worth trying. Hell, getting blowing up over and over again sounds a heck of a lot better than continuing to listen to you Goons hijack any conversation on the topic and derail it.
Also, I'm loving the bittervet responses. Keep telling me it's not worth it.
EDIT: I also would like to point out I have no freaking agenda, political or otherwise, i dont care about your nullsec drama, I just want cool in game RP. Hate me all you want, but it won't change why this game is fun to me. |
