The Blackbird isn't designed for long range really as it should be an all out jamming, scrambling and/or webifying ship. Webi being at 10K average and scrambling from 7.5 to 20K range. The firepower makes jobs like reducing the sec standing alot quicker as we were getting punished for vengeance kills (Which granted now seems to have been addressed) and still nothing is helping the regaining of the Sec standing apart from killing the higer end NPC's. I was gladly doing that with 85K pirates with my torps in a BB and now at first after the new patch found myself stuck in a system as I had no missiles and there were 3 NPC's at the JG out of the system. All I had were torps. With 3 Heavy missiles and a Turret hitting what was the 45K NPC's they recharge the armor quicker than I can hit it off them I now find myself stuck in systems that I have difficulty getting out of and moving around within due to the NPC's at the gates and being stuck amongst all this due to my sec standing I cannot get any rise on. The Heavy Missiles seriously need an overhaul! At the very least take the Heavies up by 75hp per hit if not then preferably 100hp with the 5% per skill.

One word;
GANGBUG, sessionchange bugging up the invited party to never being able to join the gang again unless you disdanb gangs and make a new. For gods sake, flush out the OLD invites if a pilot reloads the client. PLayers logging in after being away for half a day, and still being in gang....
All in all, the ganginvite bug has been here... forever and it IS a gamestopper for anyone who runs team ops. "Sorry, cant invite you, youre bugged, you have to stay home while we go play"
This patch is all in all very good as fair as im concerned.. but the gang bug must get some prio, and should have gotten some prio LONG ago.

Bug
If you exit a station too quickly after entering it (presumably after changing ships too), then you get the endless "tunning in to subspace frequency". The cause for this is presumably that you no longer get the warning when trying to exit a station just after entering or changing ships.
This can be worked around by restarting EVE but is quite annoying for agent runners such as myself. ------------- You have to go out of your mind from time to time to stay sane. |

Since the deployment of the patch I have undocked to a black screen with it constantly loading over 6 times. I have to close the game and log back in to play again. I have heard from a few others that they are experiencing this problem now too, but also others who havnt at all.
EDIT: ah Claus has described it better than me

If people are encountering being stuck like that, please start the Log Server, log in, exit the client, save the log and send it to [email protected] with the subject "Stuck when [insert situation]".
This is very important information for us to squish stuck bugs.
Of course, getting Log Server logs of any scenario where you encounter bugs is crucial to solving them. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Please fix the turrests, as it is now, you can only hit a target when is going towards or away from you, or sits dead in space, as soon as it orbits or moves horisontanly or vertically, you cannot hit it, im talking BS vS bs or BS vs cruiser here, i understand that a bs have problems hitting a small frigate. Edited by: Photon Lightwielder on 17/06/2004 12:43:08 well not sure if this thread was just for this patch but here goes. Fixing some of the graphical stuff in the game. Like: Mining lasers, firstly they fire out in deep space all the time, secondly the front part and the mount of the mining laser aint attached at all, the front is just floating in space. The same goes to the punishers wings, the wingtips are also floating in space. I'm sure there's lots of theese things but i havn't flied all the ships yet :) And of course the tracking, making range dependant ammo actually count agaion =) a couple of quoets: large neutron blasters fitted to a megathron. Blasters are meant for very close range, about 2km is optimal range with antimatter fitted. Before patch wouldnt have got an hit from a range of 30km`s. Also got 870+ damage from 20km with same ammo this morning
This evening i got a 575 perfect strike on a blackbird from a blaster using antimatter from 30km.......
edit: of course one thing i forgot, that stop button looks like a traffic sign taken from clipart.com or something, would be nice if it was set more in style with the rest of the HUD :) Like say the autopilot button, but with a stop instead

go 5 km closer, works wonders ... i think the "optimal range" gives false values, you hit best if you go some km closer than that, worked well for my 1400s (optimal with emp ~ 25km, best hits at about 19-20km from target (slowly moving angel seraphim BS))

However, it should never of come to this. The last two nights on Eve have been virtually unplayable. Even something as simple as undocking requires you to relog and when you're warping to invisible Asteriod belts, well...
In cases where the game is so unplayable, you should of rolled back to the last patch whilst working out the bugs on this patch. Missing items I can deal with. Having to eject from my Battleship because everyone is invisible and relogging because I'm unable to dock are entirely different matters.
Please in future if this ever happens again, don't mess about, get Eve rolled back.
This patch was on Entropy, our test server for 3 weeks in Release Candidate state. The problem with most of these bugs that always appear after they enter Tranquility is directly related to 7000 people hammering it at the same time. We can't emulate that scenario.
Others bugs such as the market items missing are just bad management of me since I greenlighted the patch, no need to blame anyone else than me.
Rolling back means moving back time, it isn't possible to roll back just the code, since actions done while using the new code would not work with previous code. Hence we rather work fevereshly to fix the bugs rather than roll back.
Market Items missing is just one of those things. You do an excellent job anyway. My only concern was that with having to relog everytime I wanted to undock, the game was becoming unplayable.
If it can't be rolled back then I'll just grim and bear it. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work.

It just gets better. Finally managed to bag a 500K Thorax in 0.1 system with about 50 Thunderbolts and the same again in widowmakers (shock, HORROR) and then turn on the Initiate's. Got about half of the armor gone on it and then found myself watching a shaking screen. What's that all about? Thought they'd have fixed that at this stage. I agree also on the gang statement as that's got no better either. Inviting people into gang's and it not being accepted if they're warping at the time or similar scenario. Also got a message once that I couldn't leave a system once as I was still in talks with the gang members when I was trying to leave the gang Back to the shaking though, once this all stopped I found myself in the best laggggg realm that I've ever experienced in my gaming career. This as a result screwed up my whole PC as I could't do anything with anything. Had to reboot and start again. The PC run's fine with everything else and more so demanding games but everytime that shaking effect is happening it slows my PC right down

The Connections skill is only being applied to Concord standing now. Pulling up the standings tab on the NPC corp used to show your improved standing due to Connections skill but now this is only being shown for Concord. Is this an intended change or a bug?
I haven't seen this listed in known issues or addressed in the patch notes. I do see 'various standings display bugs' listed but this is not a display bug as I cannot use agents in a NPC corp that I have been working for that my standing + Connections should allow me to work for.
I'm primarily an agent runner so this affects my gameplay quite drastically. I'm aware of the Diplomacy workaround, but I don't feel you should have to train another skill to get the intended effect of Connections that was received before the latest patch.
I doubt this will be in the Friday patch, but it would be great if Oveur could add this to the known issues since I'm certain it affects many players.

Edited by: Def Antares on 17/06/2004 13:04:54 ORBITING!
Why in the 9 hell does my Int (Raptor) for no reason leave the orbit of a ship I am fighting? I nearly lost it now, again, due to this bug. And no, I don't dbl click the space. It also sees that it leaves the orbit when you adjust the throttle. THIS SUCKS! I don't want to re-orbit all the time when I adjust my speed. And I also don't want to re-orbit all the time FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON! You know how devastating it is when you suddenly realise that you go in a straight line from a MOA and it starts hitting you with 4 guns? You can imagine I guess. Do put it constructive: Make orbit so that it doesn't break all the time. FIX IT, along with the other stuff, or I quit and come back in half a year when you've done it. Unless you're broke until then. And no, you can't have my stuff.

You nearly lost your ship. I did and have done. Lost my Blackbird which was fitted out with about 70 of all but Juggernaut Torpedoes and a few other luxuries I'd found out in 0.0 whilst trying to get this sec standing back up. Never got that replaced by any other means than my own isk even though I've experienced the bug several times over. Just had to sit there and watch my ship blow up. Couldn't warp out, couldn't put a shield booster on, couldn't do anything of any benefit. Loggin out wouldn't have survived either more than likely.

and...
PLEASE give LARGE AUTOCANNONS a big hug and love, cause they should work at least as proper close quarter cruiser defense...but their tracking is oo poor to hit a cruiser intheir optimal range. Yeah, you can fit meium ACs for that, and they work quite good, but Large acs donŠt have the punch of artillery guns anyway, so why not give them at least a better tracking so our BS wonŠt be ripped apart by some close range cruisers? (i tried them out, they work from ~ 18km down to ~7 km, then they donŠt hit a cruiser anymore)

One thing which I have been sick of for a long time during a corp war battle is the sheer number of n00b or alt scavengers that either interfere in battles getting people ganked by concord or hang around till a ship gets blown up then looting tainers before running off. They really get on my nerves.
I was hoping that with the new criminal flagging that this would be stopped. However, yesterday I went to the assistance of an allied corp who were at war with the same corp as me. We dispatched a Tempest of the enemy only to see a bb flown by another corp run in and steal all the loot before running off.
Now I was led by this patch to assume that he would be criminally flagged for stealing loot that didnt belong to him. (Which IMO is damn worse than splashing a tainer in combat). Yet no concord showed up and we had to sit there watching him running off with the loot. Now, answer me this please, is War loot not flagged at all? Or if it is would we be "flagged" for taking an enemies loot won on the battlefield? If the loot is not flagged then surely all loot tainers should not be flagged. Or if all cans are flagged then shouldnt loot won in war be only available for taking by the victors or losers corps.?
This incident concerns me a lot. Also shouldn't splashing or shooting a loot tainer just flag you towards that persons corp not have a concord instagank response? A mate of mine lost a megathron solely while testing out guns after the patch cus he activated a smartbomb when the frigates got too close for his guns. A secure tainer (with zillions of hps) was within blast radius and concord instaganked him for this. Surely this is a way over the top response and the whole criminal flagging idea was to involve players in policing space more.
Surely concord are reserved for max response issues like shooting non war enemies in secure space and other such reasons. Can I get a Devs response to these issues because being in Wars are hairy enough in empire space without having to consider every secure can thats hanging around.

Game Play!
Hello there. Im a new Player playing Eve for about a month. It took a great deal of time to aqcuire a shiney new Moa Cruiser and for fitting it.
It was fitted with 4xMinerII an 2 RocketLauncers loaded with Heavy Missels for Protection.
Then i went to an Asteroid Belt in an 0.8 Sec System for mining. Soon a Pirate appeared. I locked him and shot a missle at him. It seemed the Missle hit a secure Container somehow (Splash damage? or he just floated under my missel bay). Soon CONCORD arrived and blasted me to pieces. And my new shiny Moa was gone.
In my Opinion its not very good to be attacked and destroyed by CONCORD for defending against a Pirate in a High Sec Area, cause of a secure Container. Also theres the Possibility to use Container vs Missles to get Enemys destroyed by Concord. There was absolutly no intention to attack the container. and in some Systems smartbombs and missles would be totally useless cause of the pure number of containers.
Some Information would be very nice.
Thx and best regards.

Being another victim to the ridiculous scenario in which a cruise missile hit a can en-route to a rat, and consequently loosing my Megathron and most of its innards, and having been a keen and loyal player of Eve since last day of Beta, I shall be canceling my monthly payments, and making some more room on my hard drive. That is, of course if the GM's don't do something about it, and offer some kind of compensation, or reverse the ill effects.
