During the downtime today, Sunday 21st September, all players currently located in the Jita system were moved to neighboring systems due to the implementation of a new feature. The Stargate will now check how many players there are in the system and deny access if you attempt to jump into it when too many players are present. In addition to this you will not be able to login on a character if the system has too many players. We have also increased the amount of GMs this evening and if you are unable to login, please press the ESC button and submit a petition in the Stuck category.
This is a temporary solution to this issue, we are working on a permanent feature which has the highest priority and will be implemented as soon as possible. |

OP amended. It was not necessary to move everyone out of Jita after all.

This change affects all systems currently, but I'd like to emphasize that this is a temporary fix, not a permanent one. Creating a better solution is top priority and we're working very hard to make it, test it and deploy it in the very near future.
Very near future is like soon, only without the trademark.

Can we troll you?
Ok back on topic. How long do you "estimate" it will take to fix this?
MA
No, you can't. I'm such a nice and friendly guy your mothers would cry if you trolled me.
There's no estimation yet, but as I said this has top priority, we can't magically make it happen tomorrow or anything of course, but it shouldn't take too long.

The player limit should only affect Jita, unless of course you go out of your way to abuse it. But that's also why we'll have extra GMs tonight.

It appears a node died which is why you're seeing the traffic advisory. This is not connected to the system player limit though.

Bah, I can make you and your quote dissapear from EVE if I want to, muahahaha!
But let's hope I don't have to change it, I'd look rather silly if it comes to that...

Sometimes...
Ok, it appears we're looking into what happened, it is unusual for nodes to die like this but it doesn't appear that it's connected to the system player limit. It will be investigated further though.

Originally by: Vikarion The cap limit is high, a node coincidentally failed (this is similar to other node failures I've seen), and nobody is going to be able to use this as an exploit in 0.0 until we get dynamic load re-balancing, because we'll still get horrendous lag with fleet fights over 400. And the cap is higher than that.
The cap is just a temporary measure to allow us more time to analyse the data from last night and avoid cascading problems tonight. There were 1,400 pilots in Jita last night, Saturday, and the temporary cap value was chosen so only Jita is realistically affected. We were working throughout the night and this morning on this issue and are still at work.
Unfortunately one node died this afternoon (not 30 nodes) but that incident is not related to the temporary capping as far as we can tell. The maximum population in the solar systems on that node was well below the cap.

Is this confirmation that it is a node cap, not a system cap?
No, this is not such a confirmation.

No, this is not such a confirmation.
Is that a denial then?
Don't mess around Wrangler, we are already annoyed enough without you trying to be clever and hiding behind semantics.
What is the cap? Does it apply to individual systems, or the node that they are running on?
If you don't know, say so. If you aren't allowed to tell us, say so.
All we want is a little honesty, transparency, and respect. Is that too much to ask?
I didn't even post...
The player limit is per solar system.

In DT today the temporary cap was removed from all systems except Jita. See news here. The temporary cap, which now only applies to Jita, was also raised significantly.
