Is it just me or have I been the only 4sshat that pays 14.95 a month*2 for 6 months straight only to keep up on skill. LetĘs see thatĘs $180 in Americano Crapo dollars to CCP in hopes something revolutionary happens. Train skills, but donĘt play, letĘs hear it! --->Movie: + Trillion damage to CareBear community--->LOL Pic: Mitnal R4pes! |

I've AFK'd a lot, but of course to be AFK you still have to be logged in to the client. As far as paying subscription fees just to train skills, I've never done that, although there was a two month time span where I was paying subscription fees and not training skills.

trick is to set it up so you have some 30 day + skills to train when you dont want to play, good skills are capital ship skills like carrier or dread, best to take them to 5
however if you have no desire to log in then why pay for the accounts? kind of a waste imo unless you have money to spare I guess

***** it i have enough isk to pay for the foreseeable future of all my tooons in time cards, but somehow i would rather pay the $30 a month, lol. Hi, welcome to Eve:SkillTraining
Persoanlly, I've not really playted Eve for nearly 2 years.
However, I still pay the bills and log in to do some stuff every so often, so I consider it a good enough game to have retained some of my attention after 3 years.
Frankly, I spend WAY more every month on cigarettes, alcohol and eating out, so Eve's pretty cheap for a 'vice'.

The reason I can't seem to leave is because I have all the gametime from the days of cheap 90d (390mil ISK ftw) codes...

The EvE skill training game isn't as boring as you think if you imagine your character getting stronger by the minute and will "wtfpwn" next time you log in.
Besides for me it's just as expensive as my daily cup of coffee. ---

Not yet but I'm only one step away. I still log in and play for an hour or two most days but I'm only 'bimbling around' - running missions, grabbing the occasional market bargain. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

i believe all "specialized" capital alts fall under that group. although i gave mine some trade skills and a jump clone to otherwise inaccessible stations here and there, i wouldn't call that playing. aka Roemy Schneider (probably lacking game time again) |

Uh... 3 months?
About that. Just training level 5s, still paying the monthly $22 or whatever it works out for us UK people.
Caldari Cruiser 5 is nearly done though.
So no, you aren't the only one. I've thought about cancelling my account but I literally can't be bothered. I logged in the other day to see if i'd sold all my thrashers (I hadnt)... All i had was an angry email from a neglected agent, yelling at me for not actually doing a mission i'd looked at.
I just can't find a reason to log in. All my pals play WoW so I generally play that and do some BGs, Dungeons etc.
I think about logging into EVE and all i can think of is the shitty PVE, and expensive PVP. And I don't want to spend more money on a GTC just so I can blow up real dollars (in effect).
To be truely honest, i'm waiting for Ambulation. So I probably won't actually play eve for another.. 10 years?

Two accounts for now 4 years each, thats 8 year total of payments. Out of that time, I have played actively EVE (from 4 years) about 1+ year.

I'm guilty of paying for and not playing EVE during times when RL is more important.
If a game takes you away from even your own health, family, friends, and life, something is very wrong. -

Edited by: Misanth on 26/09/2008 11:12:45 I don't do that in EVE, however I do pay for other games (and xbox live) which I don't use. Ironicly I don't benefit from keeping my accounts open there, like I would in EVE with this skill training.
Then again, I pay my EVE playtime with ISK so I kinda feel that the RL-iskies I would pay for this game could as well go to something else I might play at a rainy day (or when EVE would be down). It's all the same sum on my bank account.
I guess CCP would disagree with me tho, but I guess my frequency in game and that someone else is paying my for GTC is making up for that, maybe they'll forgive me.

I do 1 Month on, and 1 month Off, lately, where I train a few 1 week, 1.5 week skills, and then set a 30 day skill at the end - go have more of real life, and more credit crunch, and then come back to the fantasy land of EVE online.
I keep hoping CCP would revamp certain things in game, which I used to enjoy, like the POS, and stuff, so I might stay longer each time.

I have several accounts but don't have time to play them all, which means that some are just sitting training skills and don't see any play time. I am paying for them with game time codes.

You fool ! You're wasting your money. You should change your monthly sub to a six-month sub. Pay straight up for a 6-month-plan @ $ 71.70. That's $ 11.95 a month ! You save $ 18.30.
So for two accounts @ $71.70 for six months => $143.40

I pay via ISK and rotate chars with long skills being expired (used to keep them all going when GTC prices were reasonable). Have undocked maybe 4-5 times in the last year.

Edited by: CrayC on 26/09/2008 13:43:56 I got 3 accounts running, pay them with RL cash and not isk. I subscribe for 1 year at a time on all 3 accounts, which not only saves me money in the long run, it also makes me feel less guilty about playing other games when I don't feel like playing EVE. I KNOW I'll always come back to EVE, especially around new expansions and after the FanFest, and should I get bored somewhere in between, it's not a lot of money I'm losing. It's paid for a full year anyway, so what does it matter if I don't play for a few days or weeks
Sure, I could save even more money by training long skills and making the account inactive for a month or so, but what if I suddenly feel like playing? All the hassle of re-opening the account, trying to find out how long I want to pay for this time etc., it's not worth it. It's so much easier to just keep paying for a full year and then not think about it. And since I can afford to do it, not being a poor student or whatever, it's fine by me.
edit: Oh, and I've had the first 2 accounts for over 5 years, 3rd one will be 3 this christmas
