Hi CCP,
If it would be possible for you to make it an option to only show real news on the character selection screen that would make it a lot easier for players to follow the important news.

I'm all for RP news...if the RP news actually has some effect on the game. But when it's just useless background that's posted up, then never used in the game, it's just a waste of reading, imo.

Explain what you mean by "real news", stuff like "CCP this or that walked away from his desk". Or is it news from CNN you want??

Simple answer really. Dont read it. As soon as you log in quickly click on character.
How do you find it hard to follow the important news? i dont Roleplay, but i enjoy the backstory of eve. Loved the recent book. (WANT MOAR CCP!!!)
Each to his own i guess.

Roleplay News are important news. Besides, even the News involving non-RP 0.0 Alliances are written in character. So where to make the distinction.
So I vote for keeping the news and even to increase their number. Thanks

Subscribe to what you feel is appropriate. There's any number of awesome tools available out there for you to do this, iGoogle and/or Google Reader are web-based ones for example.

ie- info related to the server, such as extended downtime, or the recent news items about Jita max player capacity. basically, news items that actually relate to something visible in-game. the "RP news" the OP wants to opt-out of is basically just story articles with nothing visible in-game that relates to them.
although, like we saw with the last expansion, sometimes there is a visible effect in-game, but are localized to a certain area, and not affecting everyone. like this one time, a story article included a change in the NPC buy orders for certain commodities...

Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

I don't see an issue with being able to opt out of the RP news. As long as I don't have to, I think the RP news stories are great.
Of course the easiest solution is to just subscribe to the RSS feeds you want as Blinky suggested. Job done.

Totally useless feature, its not as if server related news will be buried under RP articles, soon as new news comes out its on top of the list for a few days at least, you cant miss it

Yes please!
That said, I wish there was a lot more news about what is actually happening in the game and a lot less background narrative.
CCP are doing a great job with things like the FW stats page, the economic reports, and so on. I enjoy reading articles about what other players are doing in the game, and I _always_ skip the RP news. More of the 'real' news, please!

does ccp force your eyes to move then click on the "read more" link? (just a little hint there)
and if you cant filter out titles like "Jamyl Sarum's corontaion delayed" as opposed to "Keylogger Alert!!!" and distinguish between them. . . . then your name SHOULD be changed to "Subhuman 43567"
oh, and dont give me the "im dyslexic *****! ! !" because you would have as much difficulty reading real news as you would RP news

I dont mind the rp news but i would def. prefer more 0.0 allaince action news.
Oh and I DONT CARE ABOUT HETHS AFFECT ON THE CALDARI LABOUR FORCE ffs x)

Though i do like the stories with plot etc in them, or situations where x station needs supplies after explosion affecting buy orders blah. They make eve feel interactive

It doesn't bother me at all, and I don't care if it goes or stays. But do people actually read it? Just talking about the "fluff" stuff, here.
