I gave 178.13 a try yesterday and today and looks like the PhysX drivers that they contain crash Eve randomly. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled 175.19 and still Eve crashed.
It wasn't until I uninstalled the PhysX drivers that Eve became stable again. So if you try them and get the same issue make sure the PhysX drivers are uninstalled.

Anyone else having this problem? Usually if it just one person, I've found that its an issue with that person's system. When its 20-30 people, its an issue with the drivers.

I have 178.13 and have no problems with Eve in full screen at 1920x1200. I played for several hours last night and alt-tabbed a few times and didn't crash.

All I can say is I tried those drivers and Eve crashed a lot and since getting rid of the PhysX drivers it hasn't. So basic fault finding for pc's, last thing to be installed is usually the culprit.

I wasn't expecting dev responce but seeing as you are I'll try and trigger it again and get the crash dumps.
Note, I reported this to Nvidia also as I expected it would be a specific driver issue which they would/should fix |

Actually i think it not just a problem on Win XP but also on Vista: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=655516
*Simply* uninstalling the PhysxDrivers didn't helped. I'll maybe try some more things when i'm home again. |

WOW.. no wonder so many devs fail at developing. You really consider using a 8400GS notebook GPU representative for the OP's and any other peoples problems with nVIDIA drivers? Geez...

ok, what exactly is wrong with the 8400GS chip. if you read the thread i linked to you will see i have access to much better hardware, but when i'm in bed reading the forums and making a lame attempt to help people in my spare time, i really have no reason to use anything other than the laptop that i can run 2 eve accounts, proxy, server and DB while debugging.

WOW.. another person talking about what he doesn't understand.
nVidia use what's called a shared GPU path, hence why you can use the same driver for many of the Geforce models. A bug in the drivers will normally be present across multiple GPUs in the range. The 8400GS is a good a place than any to start.

Edited by: Night Breed on 03/10/2008 01:46:47 Well just please keep us updated as I would like to install these drivers and the Physx support if at all possible. I noticed that even on the old drivers(third most recent, cant remember driver number) that atleast with my Dual 8800 GT (alpha dog edition) I still have BSOD's unless i only toggle 1 GPU with Nhancer in eve. So is there anyway to use 2 or am I crap out of luck? Or is it just my damn comp.

I seem to have the same problem, crashing at gates and sometimes undocking/warping... and once or twice clicking on a menu item in station. I've lost three ships to it thus far. I've followed just about every piece of folklore on these forums (from killing sound to reinstalling everything short of my actual OS).
AMD 4200+ Running XP sp2 GF7900 gtx 2gig ram SB Live!
never had any problems untill 1.1.1
oh, i run the classic client too.

EVE doesn't hate ATI, ATI's drivers hate EVE, and other games.
Back in May they got corrupted and would BSOD my computer whenever I tried to play a game that used Pixel Shader 1.1. The uninstall software didn't remove the damaged files and the install software didn't over-write them. I switched to Omega drivers and the problem was fixed.
Now ATI's drivers BSOD my computer when my nightmare loads up in premium graphics. If I log in with my nightmare I get a BSOD with a pink square artifact and a stop code I haven't bothered checking out. If I change ships into my nightmare I get a BSOD with the same stop code I had when trying to install a pre-SP1 version of XP Pro on a 500gb drive indicating that somehow EVE + Premium + Nightmare + ATI's Drivers = something messing with my drives/partitions/boot table/something.
Lots of fun but it seems to be ATI's drivers as the only problem I have with Omega ATI drivers is that running 3 accounts on one computer randomly locks up my system without a BSOD and, so far as I can recall, I didn't have that problem with ATI's drivers. ____________________
