I think so. That's the route I took with all 4 of my characters. ------------

I'd recommend just to 4, then work on T2 guns. Train something else to increase your options in 0.0 (like, say, interceptors) whilst you get your foothold in 0.0. From there, you can decide what to train for next depending upon how you find yourself playing in 0.0.
If you find that you are indeed flying battleships a whole darn lot, go ahead and spend the 30+ days on BS5. -

i'd get BS V then t2 weapons but make sure you have all support gunnery to V, it makes life soo much easier.

I finished Gallente Battleship 5 before I even learned Small Hybrid Turret 5, but then again, I had a time where I needed to learn very long skills for a rather long time, so BB 5 was the way to go for me. Finished Battleship 5 over a year ago, still have to learn Medium Hybrid 5

I had bs 5 first on 1 char, and i had large guns first on another. Either way works, so long as you get what you want :)
the fastest route to being acceptable in 0.0 alliances is obviously guns first.

Golem I guess.
But to the OP I went for the t2 guns prior to BS5. But it's kinda dependent on what you want to do.
I guess in most cases BS5 will give you biggest DPS increase (assuming you're using faction/best named guns). But t2 guns generally give more flexibility (sniping and such). If there were t2 ships requiring bs5 that I really wanted to fly I would have opted for training BS5 first though (like I did with cruisers).

if your aiming to go back to 0,0 i would go for t2 guns first.
not sure what bs your aiming for as that would help a fair bit on choosing, but in general i would say t2 guns is better then bs 5. With t2 guns you can use t2 long range ammo, and thats used quite a lot in 0,0 pvp. t2 guns are also cheaper then best named, and if you only use non named t1 guns then you will see a extreme improvment.
also, if you only have large guns trained to 4 atm you will actually get a 13% dps increase from training it to 5 and getting the spec skills to 4 compared to usally only a 5% increase in damage from training a bs to 5

I have 2 characters that can fly a Golem, Palidin and Kronos with level 5 Marauders, but still can't fit any Large T2 turrets or launchers.
However, that is because I make liberal use of dark training: rank 8/10 skills allow for more effective dark training than rank 3/5 skills.
Train them in whatever order you want, for whatever reason you want. If your goal is 0.0 then go for the T2 turrets as best named is probably not cost effective out there. T2 will provide a wide variety of bonuses over what you could alternatively fit for that price.

And when he says "dark training" he means letting a skill run on an account that has expired. He who defends Everything, Defends Nothing! |

I got Gallente BS 5 in January this year and hopped in a Kronos around March. Back then I was stuck with small hybrid specs at 3. I got t2 rails a month ago and t2 blasters next week. And yeah, dominix was my main ship so BS skill for more drone bonuses was more important than gunnery skills.

Edited by: Xantheous on 03/10/2008 14:05:03 I have always had one rule, never fly anything you can't protect. Just makes you look like an ass when you pull up in a new Cadillac and get popped like a Yugo. Took me 1 vagabond that I raced to get into, to figure that out..it was an expensive and most humbling lesson to say the least.
